Los Angeles, August 22 - Indian movies are set to conquer the USA box office in the month of September, as after Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", which is scheduled to release on September 7, Prabhas-fronted "Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire" has taken a super strong start in the pre-sales there.## The advance booking of "Salaar" was opened on August 22 and the response has been excellent so far. With 35 days still to go for the premieres, the film sold approximately 6400 tickets worth $183.70K from 410 shows in 154 locations, according to tracker Venky Reviews (as of 9:30 AM, August 24 (IST).## The pre-sales collection of the movie is increasing rapidly with each passing minute which will be reported after official data gets available. Directed by Prashanth Neel, "Salaar" has been planned for a massive release across North America. It has already been confirmed to release in over 1979 locations, including approximately 315 Cinemark theaters which is the widest release for an Indian movie ever.## As for the initial advance booking response, the period action drama film is projected to score, at least, $1.5+ million from premiere shows alone in the USA which is going to be excellent numbers. Overall, the overseas pre-sales of "Salaar" is expected to be one of the highest ever for an Indian title, and if the talks are positive, then expect unheard numbers at the box office.## The film is produced by Hombale Films and it also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and Tinnu Anand, among others in key roles. Chennai, August 22 - Superstar Rajinikanth basking on the mega success of his latest blockbuster "Jailer", directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The superstar is now gearing up for his projects and one of them is with Lokesh Kanagaraj. ## Rajinikanth and Lokesh's collaboration has been in the news for the last few weeks. The makers haven't made the project official yet but multiple reports have confirmed the development and the previous reports also claimed that it could be a part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). ## Now, according to the latest reports, the project, tentatively called "Thalaivaar 171", will be a standalone movie with no connection with the LCU. The shoot for the movie is expected to commence by the end of this year or early next year. ## LCU has been the talk of the town since last year. The first movie in this universe was Karthi's "Kaithi", followed by Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" last year. It has become the first 500 crores grosser for the entire primary cast as well as for director Anil Sharma. ## "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" has been sensational so far with its day-wise trending at the domestic as well as overseas box office. In India, the movie has so far grossed approximately 459 crores (388.60 crores net) while the overseas collection is around 48 crores (estimated) which takes its total collection to around 507 crores in just 11 days.## Produced by Anil Sharma Productions in association with Zee Studios, "Gadar 2" becomes the 3rd Indian movie of 2023 and 17th overall to top 500 crores worldwide. Mumbai, August 21 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama OMG 2 has a drop of around 70% today on its second Monday which is a bit higher but the overall collection remains decent considering various factors.## Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 scored an estimated 3.75 crores net collection on its second Monday/11th day. This takes the total collection to around 117.50 crores net to date. The trend in multiplex centers is strong while mass centers continue to perform low for the movie.## OMG 2 will reach around 125 crores net mark by the end of the second week. The movie will have additional competition in the coming weekend in the form of Dream Girl 2, however, it should be able to retain maximum screens, especially in multiplexes.## It will be interesting to see if OMG 2 can go near the 150 crores mark as that should be its target from now on. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", which is scheduled to release on September 7, has faced such challenges as many set pics as well as video clips have been leaked online, and to prevent such things, makers had to take a legal route.## Prabhas-fronted "Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire", which is probably the biggest Pan India movie of the year at the moment, has reportedly shifted the post-production to a different place to safeguard the movie. Bengaluru, August 21 - In 2022, the Kannada film industry had a major box office success besides Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 in the form of an action thriller "Kantara". Rishab Shetty's directorial movie, which also featured Shetty in the lead role, grossed over 400 crores worldwide against a budget of just around 15 crores. ## Produced by Hombale Films, "Kantara" is one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema of all time, and very rightly so, the second part of the movie was also officially confirmed earlier this year. Now, according to Pinkvilla, "Kantara 2" will go on floors in November this year in Mangalore.## The script work of the movie has been completed and the makers are now busy with the pre-production work. "While the first part was shot in Shetty's hometown in Kandapura, Kantara 2 will prominently be shot in Mangalore. This location encompasses the required elements of jungle, land, and water as dictated by the script", says the report.## The movie will be shot over a period of 4 months on a bigger scale than the first part. The film has got bigger in budget and cast as well this time as makers plan to make it a proper Pan India blockbuster. "Kantara 2" is a prequel that explores the backstory of the folklore featured in the first part. The hyper-local story will delve into the origin of the deity, Panjurli Daiva.## "Kantara" was a massive success in Hindi as well with a gross collection approx. 100 crores, making it the second highest-grossing Kannada movie in the Hindi language. The Cillian Murphy-led movie has generated $146.4 million worldwide, including $80.8 million domestically (North America) and $146.4 million overseas after the 5th weekend.## "Oppenheimer" surpassed the final IMAX gross collection of Marvel Studios' "Avengers Infinity War" which made $143 million in this premium format. The movie, however, dethroned Margot Robbie's mega-blockbuster " Barbie" to claim the number 1 spot during the weekend of August 18-20.## "Blue Beetle" scored $25.4 million in its opening weekend, which is the second lowest opening in the modern DC era, ahead of just "Wonder Woman 1984" ($16.7 million) which had a debacle day and date release on HBO Max during the peak of covid-19 pandemic in December 2020.## Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, "Blue Beetle" was expected to project to score $30 million which would have still made it the lowest DC starter in 2023, behind "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" which grossed $30.1 million earlier this year.## At the international box office, "Blue Beetle" starring Xolo Maridueña as the alien symbiote, added $18 million from 63 markets. With $43 million globally, it's one of the softest starts in the history of the DC Cinematic Universe. In India, the movie has one of the lowest superhero openings with just around $720K (6 crores gross) in the 3-day weekend.## The audience word of mouth is positive for the movie with 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore is B+. Mumbai, August 20 - Mega blockbuster Gadar 2 scored a sensational second weekend at the domestic box office, showing a drop of just around 30% from the first weekend. The second-weekend hold for the movie is nothing short of extraordinary considering the first weekend itself was massive.## The Anil Sharma's directorial movie scored an estimated around 40 crores net on its second Sunday, showing a massive jump of around 30% from Saturday. The jump over the second weekend is massive, especially on Saturday and Sunday where collection nearly jumped by 1.5x from the previous day which is phenomenal.## The second Sunday estimates of the movie take the total collection to around 377 crores, which makes it the 4th highest net-earning movie in Hindi of all time, beating Aamir Khan's Dangal which scored 374 crores net in Hindi languages. The second-weekend collection of Gadar 2 is around 91 crores, which is the highest second weekend of all time by a huge margin.## Gadar 2 will go past 400 crores net mark by the second Tuesday or Wednesday and it will be crossing KGF: Chapter 2 in the third weekend to become the third biggest Hindi movie of all time, behind Pathaan and Baahubali 2. Mumbai, August 20 - OMG 2 has a very good second weekend, dropping just around 30% from the first weekend which is a fantastic hold. The movie scored a jump of around 20% on its second Sunday from the second Saturday collection. ## The early estimate suggests a second Sunday/10th-day collection of OMG 2 around 12.50-13 crores net which takes the total collection to over 114 crores net. The second-weekend collection is over 29 crores net which is one of the highest for a mid-budget Bollywood movie this year.## OMG 2 has been excellent in multiplex chains as the majority of its collection has come through those chains while smaller centers continue to remain low due to the domination of Gadar 2. The low performances in single screens have reduced OMG 2 to around its current total otherwise it could have easily around 150 crores net by now. A solo release would have done that for it.## The movie is the first 100 crores net scorer for director Amit Rai as well as Pankaj Tripathi who plays the center role in the movie.
