Los Angeles, August 28 - The global box office phenomena, Barbenheimer, the blockbuster combination of two summer tentpoles Barbie and Oppenheimer, have jointly taken their ship past $2 billion at the worldwide box office. The current global total of both the movies stands at $2.12 billion (17510 crores).## Barbie - Directed by Greta Gerwig and headlined by Margot Robbie, the fantasy comedy drama film has grossed solid $1.34 billion (11070 crores) through 6th weekend. It is set to become the highest-grossing movie of the year by beating "Super Mario Bros." ($1.36 billion) in the next couple of day. ## At the domestic (North America) box office, Barbie has minted $595 million (4915 crores) so far, which makes it the highest-grossing film domestically in Warner Bros. history. Overseas, the movie has grossed excellent $745 million (6155 crores), with the UK being the biggest international market for the movie with $115 million.## Oppenheimer - It has become the highest-grossing non-Batman movie for director Christopher Nolan worldwide with $777 million (6420 crores) through 6th week. The atom bomb movie has scored $300 million (2480 crores) at the domestic box office while overseas gross reached $477 million (3940 crores).## The UK is again the biggest international market for the movie with $67.5 million. The movie has been exceptional in India as well with $18.8 million (155 crores) so far. Mumbai, August 27 - Ayushmann Khurrana's Dream Girl 2 ends the opening weekend with the very good collection after another good jump of around 15% on Sunday. The movie nearly managed to match the weekend collection of its predecessor despite facing a huge competition with Gadar 2 and OMG 2. ## As per the early estimates, Dream Girl 2 scores around 16-16.50 crores net collection on its first Sunday/third day, which takes the total 3-day opening collection to around 41 crores. This is a very good result for the movie as these sort of numbers were looking a far cry before the release.## The audience word of mouth for the movie is mixed, plus the brand value of the franchise help the movie to post these weekend numbers at the box office. The full first week collection could be around 65 crores net, considering the Raksha Bandhan holiday coming up.## Dream Girl 2 will get, at least, one more weekend to score before Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan arrives on September 7. Mumbai, August 26 - After scoring the biggest opening for actor Ayushmann Khurrana, the comedy-drama film "Dream Girl 2" witnesses a very good jump of around 35% on its second day/first Saturday which is a very good sign for the movie.## The early estimates suggest 14-14.50 crores net collection on the film's first Saturday which takes the total collection to around 25 crores net in two days. Mumbai, August 26 - Sunny Deol-fronted Gadar 2: The Katha Continues has become the 3rd highest-grossing film of all time in the Hindi language at the domestic box office. It has surpassed Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 which scored 435 crores net last year, to claim the 3rd spot.## Gadar 2, on its 3rd Saturday (16 days), reached around 440 crores net collection. It is now behind only Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion (511 crores net) and Pathaan (524 crores net). G2 is expected to reach 500 crores net mark by 4th week to become only the 3rd film ever in Hindi to do so.## At the same point in time (16 days), G2 is ahead of SS Rajamouli's directorial BB2 (415.05 crores net) and is behind Pathaan (442.50 crores net), but only just. With the current trend, G2 should come close to (or may cross) BB2 and then, it will be interesting to see how it withstands Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie "Jawan" which is scheduled to release on September 7. ## Directed by Anil Sharma who also produced it under Anil Sharma Productions with Zee Studios, Gadar 2 is a sequel to the 2001 film "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha". Mumbai, August 26 - Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurana is finally back in the game and delivered the biggest opener of his career in the form of Dream Girl 2. ## Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the comedy-drama scored 10.69 crores net collection on its opening day, which is the biggest ever start for Ayushmann Khurrana, beating Bala which scored 10.15 crores net opening and went on to score 116.38 crores lifetime collection.## This is also the only third time that the actor's film has taken a double-digit opening. Earlier, apart from Bala, the original Dream Gil scored 10.05 crores net collection on its opening day and is now the third biggest opener for the actor. Dream Girl is the highest-grossing film of Ayushmann with 141.30 crores in lifetime net collection.## The initial word of mouth for Dream Girl 2 is mixed to positive, plus the franchise value should help the movie grow on Saturday and Sunday. Los Angeles, August 26 - Two of the biggest Indian movies of the year, Prabhas-fronted Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan on course to emerge massive openers at the US box office as the advance booking for both the movies are continuing with the great momentum. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar is literally going berserk in its pre-booking and is certain to emerge as one of the biggest Indian openers there. According to the tracker, Venky Reviews, the film has sold approximately 14620 tickets worth $418.8K (3.50 crores) so far from 1012 shows in 337 locations for the premieres. ## The advances opened just a few days back and there are still 31 days left for the first show (28 Sept. release). The movie will be eyeing at least $1.5+ million in premiere advance sales and the opening day (including premieres) could well be around $4 million. At this point in time, the movie is competing with SS Rajamouli's RRR opening in the USA. ## Shah Rukh Khan's action thriller Jawan, on the other hand, is also having strong advance sales in the USA. The movie, scheduled to release on September 7, has crossed $200K (1.65 crores) for the opening day in the advance booking. At the time of the last report, it reached $210.40K (1.75 crores). It is set to score the biggest opening day for a Bollywood film ever in North America.## Jawan is also having excellent trends in other international markets as well. In the UK, it has grossed approximately £80K (85 lakh) for the opening day with one of the biggest chains in this region, Vue International yet to open advances. Mumbai, August 26 - After Pathaan earlier this year, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set for another potential blockbuster ride with the action thriller film Jawan which is scheduled to release on September 7, 2023. The movie is directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. ## Jawan will be released in the regular 2D format along with a premium IMAX version. Now, it has been revealed that it will be screened on the world's largest IMAX screen in Germany. The screen, which stands in Leonberg near Stuttgart in Germany, measures 38 by 22 m (125 by 72 ft). Jawan is said to be the first Indian film that is set to release on such a grand scale. ## IMAX is a fast-growing big-screen cinema format as audiences are visiting IMAX theaters more than before. Pathaan was also released in this premium format and delivered the biggest global opening ever for an Indian movie. After back-to-back major box office success along with the maiden National Award of the Best Actress for "Gangubai Kathiawadi", Alia is now set to headline Yash Raj Films' first female-led spy action thriller film.## A few weeks back, it was revealed that the "Raazi" actress roped in to lead YRF's yet untitled spy action thriller movie, part of the studios' ambitious Spy Universe. With this, the actress joins some of the biggest stars of the country, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Jr. NTR in this spy universe.## Now, according to Pinkvilla, "Bunty Aur Babli 2" actress Sharvari Wagh joins Alia Bhatt in YRF's first female-led spy movie. The report says that the shoot of this untitled big-budget action entertainer will commence in May 2024. "Given the film's dynamic, action-packed nature, both Alia and Sharvari will undergo a rigorous three-month preparation regimen for their action sequences. This will include training in mixed martial arts", the report says.## The movie will be made on a huge scale which requires both actresses to be in prime physical condition, ready for the demanding action sequences they will tackle together. It will be shot in multiple locations in India and abroad. The movie is currently in the development stage and will begin pre-production by the end of this year.## Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt will wrap up two films before starting YRF's biggie. Mumbai, August 25 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2", which features Pankaj Tripathi in the central role along with Yami Gautam, is having a very good run at the box office. It has hit 176 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office in two weeks and emerged as a big success.## "OMG 2", which is based on sex education in India, was heavily censored as reports suggest that CBFC asked for as many as 27 cuts in the film to avoid any controversy. It was still censored with an "A" certificate (adults only) despite these many cuts but the good thing is that these things didn't affect much as far as the box office is concerned though it kept a section of the audience away from theaters.## While the movie was released in cinemas with a censored version, director Amit Rai has confirmed that the post-theatrical OTT release of the movie will have a complete director's version.
