Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' Hits 100 Crore Advance Gross Collection Worldwide For The Opening Weekend

Chennai, October 16 - Thalapathy Vijay's mega-stardom and his second collaboration with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj in the form of Leo is on full display at the worldwide box office as far as the advance bookings are concerned.

Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" is gearing up to hit the big screens on October 19 and it is set to become the biggest opening day grosser ever for a Tamil title. The film's advance booking was opened a few weeks back in some of the international markets while the same was opened yesterday (October 15) morning in India, and the response is exceptional.



"Leo", within the first 24 hours, sold over 800K tickets in India for the opening day, and at the time of writing this piece, the pre-sales of the movie had crossed 1 million tickets. The pre-sales gross collection for the movie has crossed the 20 crore mark in no time and the weekend sales are nearing the 40 crore mark.

The overseas pre-sales of the film have topped $4 million (33 crores) on the opening day while the same is around $7 million (58 crores) for the opening weekend. As I type this, "Leo" has stormed past 100 crores advance booking gross collection at the worldwide box office for the opening weekend, including around 60 crores for opening day.

The response to the movie in the advance booking has been historic so far which is like never before seen for a Tamil title. The advance booking is justifying the massive hype around the movie and if it receives favourable reviews upon its release on October 19, then it will surely re-write box office history in Tamil cinema.

The movie stars Thalapathy Vijay in the title role and Trisha Krishnan as the female lead alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, and Mysskin, among others in key roles. It will release on in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada, in the regular as well as the IMAX format.
