Chennai, August 18 - Sree Gokulam Movies, the leading distribution house in Kerala, has acquired the theatrical rights of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for an all-time highest price for a Bollywood movie.## According to Kerala industry tracker Ab George, Gokulam Movies has paid an unheard non-refundable royalty amount of 50 crores to grab the rights. This is by far the biggest-ever distribution deal for any Bollywood movie in the South Indian market. ## Gokulam Movies will release "Jawan" via Dream Big Films in Kerala while Tamil Nadu release will be done through market leader Red Giant Movies. The movie is carrying massive buzz in these two states and it is expected to emerge a big success. ## This is the third straight huge film acquired by Gokulam Movies after Rajinikanth's "Jailer" and Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo" in Kerala. "Jailer" is currently playing in theaters and has already emerged as an all-time blockbuster success in the state with 37+ crores gross in just 8 days.## Directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, "Jawan" stars Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role, alongside Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, and Sanya Malhotra while Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt play special appearances. Tokyo, August 18 - The highest-grossing Indian movie of 2023, "Pathaan" starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and Deepika Padukone, is set for a huge release in Japan on September 1st. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films.## "Pathaan" will have a wide release in Japan and for the first time for a non-Hollywood international movie, the local distributors will release the movie on a record number of IMAX screens. It is revealed that the spy action thriller movie will debut on 33 IMAX screens across the country. ## The distributors will also gift an exclusive IMAX poster to the audiences in those theaters. Mumbai, August 18 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next blockbuster, action thriller "Jawan" which is scheduled to release on September 7. Directed by Atlee Kumar, the movie is a hotly-awaited Pan India movie that is expected to be a big box office winner.## The movie is less than four weeks away from its worldwide release and the advance booking has already started opening in some of the international markets. The early overseas pre-sales of the movie are highly encouraging and are better than SRK's recent blockbuster "Pathaan" in many territories.## In the USA, "Jawan" is off to a very good start and has already sold approximately 10430 tickets worth $161.40K from 385 locations, according to Venky Reviews, as of 9 AM, August 24 (IST). The locations and shows will be increased in the coming days as the movie is projected to take a bigger start than Pathaan in the USA. ## Pathaan grossed approx. $1.85 million on the opening day in North America, and Jawan will be looking to outgross that number comfortably. Mumbai, August 17 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" sees a drop of around 35% on its first Thursday. The drop was expected considering the movie is coming after a long holiday period, however, the drop is slightly on the higher side. ## The early estimates suggest the first Thursday collection of the movie in the range of 5.25 crores net which takes the total collection of the movie to over 84.50 crores net in the full first week. The multiplexes continue to drive the biz while smaller centers remain dull due to Gadar 2. ## "OMG 2" will be targeting 22+ net collections in the second weekend which will take its total collection to over 100 crores net. It has emerged as a clean hit and the hold during the second week will decide how long it can go at the box office. ## The film has had a couple of major challenges in its way which has affected its biz big time. Firstly, the movie is "A" rated, and secondly, it was released with a volcano like "Gadar 2" which is going bonkers at the box office. Director Amit Rai Reveals How Akshay Kumar's Courage Saved 'OMG 2'

Mumbai, August 17 - The sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal-starrer 2012's film "Oh My God - OMG" was finally released on August 11, 2023, and against all odds, it is set to emerge a big success. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" features Akshay as Lord Shiva in an extended appearance while this time, Pankaj Tripathi takes the central role with Yami Gautam.## "OMG 2" has had its own struggle story before hitting cinemas. The makers had to fight an internal battle with the censor board as board members were initially not willing to grant a censor certificate to the movie. However, after continued efforts, the movie got censored but not the way the makers would have liked. It was granted an "A" rating (18+ only) while the team wanted "U/A" which was denied.## During a recent interview with ETimes, Amit Rai said that he is still trying to convince the censor board members to change their decision and give the movie "U/A" certificate. He also revealed that he took some intelligent steps to save the film from so many cuts for which, the VFX team worked continuously to make certain changes. ## Censorship issues aside, Amit Rai revealed that "OMG 2" would have never been made had Akshay Kumar not backed it. The movie deals with sex education in India and it has been given a religious angle to convey the message. Rai said that due to its subject, filmmakers like Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sony Pictures, and others had rejected the script and it was on the verge of getting shelved.## After many filmmakers rejected it, Akshay Kumar came forward and showed the courage to back it. "He was very open to the script and said that the film needs to be made. Because of him, we're still standing strong otherwise 'OMG 2' wouldn't have got made. I met Ashwin Varde, Vipul D Shah, and Rajesh Bahl and through them, I reached Akshay Kumar. If I hadn't managed to reach him, the script would have remained in some corner", the filmmaker said.## Produced by Akshay's Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios, and Wakaoo Films, "OMG 2" is going strong at the box office and scored approx. 108 crores gross collection worldwide in just 6 days. The filmmaker has managed to maintain his 100% success streak as a director.## Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring powerhouse of talent Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is heading towards 300+ crores finish at the worldwide box office. It has so far grossed approximately 291.50 crores through the third Wednesday (20 days). The movie is expected to enter 300 crores club in the coming week.## RRKPK has managed to hold really well so far with the day-wise trend being much better than most of the recent movies. Mumbai, August 17 - The second season of Bigg Boss OTT, hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has turned out to be a massive success for Jio Cinema which stream the reality show 24x7 for free. The first season was hosted by Karan Johar.## The show has broken records for Jio Cinema and becomes the most-watched non-sporting event for the streamer. On August 14, some 23 million viewers streamed the season finale live, per data provided by JioCinema (via Variety), hitting a peak concurrency of 7.2 million. ## Overall, the second season attracted more than 100 million viewers, with a total watch time of 30 billion minutes. These numbers are said to be the highest viewership for a live-streamed event in India, excluding sports.## Apart from the record viewership, around 250 million people voted when voting opened for 15 minutes for the top two finalists, Elvish Yadav and Abhishek Malhan. In all, there were 5.4 billion votes during the season and 55 million users engaged with the show's interactive features.## Earlier, Jio Cinema created an all-time viewership record during Indian Premiere League 2023. The movie marks the superstar's biggest comeback story after back-to-back underwhelming box office performances.## Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer grossed 17.50 crores on its 7th day at the domestic box office, and this takes the total collection of the movie to past 400 crores worldwide, becoming only the fourth Tamil movie of all-time to hit this rare box office mark. ## Jailer has so far grossed approximately 265 crores in India and an estimated 155 crores overseas, for a total of 420 crores at the worldwide box office in 7 days. Mumbai, August 16 - Director Raaj Shaandilyaa and actor Ayushmann Khurrana return with the sequel to their 2019's super hit comedy-drama film "Dream Girl". Ananya Panday is the female lead this time, replacing Nushrat Bharucha from the original movie. ## "Dream Girl 2" is scheduled to release on August 25 and this is the best bet for Ayushmann Khurrana as far as the box office prospects are concerned. Meanwhile, the movie has been certified with a "U/A" certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes. (133 minutes). ## The original movie's runtime was almost similar to its predecessor with 132 minutes (2 hours and 12 minutes) while it also got a "U/A" certificate from the censor board. As far as the box office collection is concerned, "Dream Girl" grossed 195 crores worldwide, including 163 crores domestically.## "Dream Girl 2" may not have a smooth outing at the box office due to the strong trend of the latest sensation "Gadar 2" as well as "OMG 2".
