Los Angeles, December 3 - James Cameron returns with the third chapter of his long-running epic sci-fi Avatar franchise, and it seems the maverick director has delivered another visual masterpiece. Avatar: Fire and Ash had its worldwide premiere yesterday, and the early critics' reviews, as usual, are highly positive. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar 3 is scheduled to release on December 29, and ahead of it, the critics have seen it and are calling the film an ultimate cinematic spectacle that pushes visuals and emotion to new heights. Some of the journalists are saying that Fire & Ash is the best of the three yet, and something that reminds everyone why movie theatres are built for. The film brings back the original cast, Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet, among others, alongside Oona Chaplin, who plays Varang, the Na'vi leader of the volcano-dwelling Mangkwan clan. Cameron said in an earlier interview that "Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) #AvatarFireAndAsh: 3 films in, James Cameron still has the sauce, making the epic spectacular feel emotionally impactful. A glorious saga. Mumbai, November 30 - Disney has unleashed a global phenomenon with cop buddy Zootopia 2, as the animated sequel delivered a sensational $556 million worldwide in its 5-day opening weekend, thanks to the spectacular weekend in China. The film has not only surpassed expectations but has also rewritten the record books, emerging as the biggest opening weekend ever for an animated film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) A major contributor to this staggering total is the film's stellar performance in the domestic (North America) market, where it grossed a fantastic $156 million across the extended 5-day frame. This marks one of the strongest starts for Disney in recent times and signals a triumphant return for the studio's animation division at the box office. International markets, however, have been the true driving force behind Zootopia 2's colossal debut. It amassed a massive $400 million overseas, with China alone contributing an extraordinary $272 million in just five days, which is the second biggest weekend for a Hollywood title there after Avengers: Endgame ($330.50 million). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The sequel has become a box-office juggernaut in the Middle Kingdom, shattering various records, including the biggest single-day total for Hollywood, and reaffirming the franchise"™s global popularity. Zootopia 2 scored the 4th biggest opening weekend ever for a Hollywood title after Endgame ($1.2 billion), Avengers: Infinity War ($640.5 million), and Spider-Man: No Way Home ($600.5 million). The animated blockbuster has also secured its position as the second biggest opening frame for a Hollywood film in the post-COVID era, behind No Way Home. With rave audience reactions, strong word-of-mouth, and a dominant worldwide presence, Zootopia 2 is now firmly on track for a monumental box-office run, potentially eyeing the billion-dollar mark in the coming weeks. Los Angeles, November 12 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: The Way of Water is among the longest films ever, with a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes. Well, the maverick filmmaker seems to be in no mood to make shorter films anymore, as his next is even longer. The third Avatar instalment - Avatar: Fire And Ash was going to be longer than The Way of Water, as confirmed by the director himself in an earlier interview. While he didn't reveal the exact runtime back then, Cameron confirmed in an interview with Empire magazine that the next film will be a bit longer. With little over a month to go before the release, the film's official runtime has been revealed, and it is 3 hours and 15 minutes (195 minutes), as listed in AMC theatre chains. The Avatar films are anyway longer than most of the Hollywood titles, as the first film of the franchise, released in 2009, was 2 hours and 58 minutes long and is the highest-grossing film in the history of the worldwide box office, while The Way of Water holds the record for the third biggest grosser ever. One can't expect less when it comes to Avatar movies, and unsurprisingly, the expectations are high from Fire And Ash, which debuts in cinemas worldwide on December 19. Cameron had hyped the movie by calling it better than the first two films, and it would be much higher in action. The movie stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet reprise their roles from previous films alongside Oona Chaplin, in prominent roles. There are, at least, two more films in the franchise after Fire And Ash - both scheduled to hit the screens in December 2029 and December 2031, respectively. Stay tuned...

Mumbai, September 8 - Warner Bros. Pictures' horror franchise that has been sending chills down spines for over a decade is back with a bang. The Conjuring: Last Rites, directed by Michael Chaves, opened to massive record-breaking numbers at the global box office, reaffirming the brand's strength among horror fans worldwide. In India, the film grossed over 61 crores ($6.9 million) during its 3-day opening weekend. This makes it by far the biggest debut for a non-Indian horror film and the second-biggest opening weekend ever for a horror film in the country. Multiplex chains in metros saw excellent occupancies, while Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities also contributed significantly to the film's strong numbers. The impressive performance indicates that the horror genre continues to have a loyal following in India, especially when backed by a trusted franchise like The Conjuring. Over the last couple of years, horror films have found success in India, and Last Rites has taken it to another level. Worldwide, The Conjuring: Last Rites delivered a staggering $194 million in its opening frame, which is a record for a horror film, beating 2017's It ($190 million). This includes a phenomenal record $84 million in North America and a record-breaking $110 million from international markets. These numbers not only underline the global appeal of the franchise but also position the film as one of the strongest openers of the year across all genres, not just horror. Mexico was the biggest overseas market for the Last Rites outside the US and Canada, with $13.3 million, followed by the United Kingdom ($8.8 million) and Brazil ($7.7 million). India was the 4th biggest international market for the film, ahead of Indonesia ($5.6 million). Interestingly, the international debut of $104 million of The Last Rites is bigger than any superhero film of 2025. The film is well-positioned for a long and successful run, given its respectable word-of-mouth and the solid foundation of the Conjuring brand. With India showing excellent trending and international markets responding in a big way, The Conjuring: Last Rites is on course to become one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time. Director James Cameron has taken a firm stance against the use of generative artificial intelligence to replace human actors, labeling the concept as horrifying in a recent interview.Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning in a conversation that has since been highlighted by the DiscussingFilm handle, the filmmaker distinguished his own extensive use of technology from the emerging trend of AI-generated characters. Expanding on the industry's future, Cameron predicted that Hollywood will eventually become self-policing regarding the use of such technology. He expressed a belief that the industry will find its own level and navigate a path through the disruption caused by AI. However, he added a profound caveat to this prediction, noting that creators can only find their way through these changes as artists if they continue to exist and practice their craft, implying that the human element is non-negotiable for the survival of artistry. James Cameron says no generative AI was used to make "˜AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH"™"œI"™m not negative about generative AI. I just wanted to point out we don"™t use it on the "˜Avatar"™ films. We honor & celebrate actors. We don"™t replace actors. That"™s going to find its level. I think"¦ pic.twitter.com/DoRntTF4s6— DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) December 2, 2025 He argued that while his films rely heavily on digital tools, they are designed to translate human emotion rather than simulate it from a text prompt.Cameron explained that there is a common misconception that his movies, such as the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash, use computers to replace actors. He clarified that his process of performance capture is actually a celebration of the actor-director connection, ensuring that every nuance of the performance is preserved. In contrast, he described the idea of generative AI creating a character or performance from scratch as the exact opposite of his philosophy. To him, the notion that a machine could fabricate an actor entirely is a horrifying prospect that strips the humanity out of storytelling. These comments arrive just weeks before audiences return to Pandora on December 19, 2025. The third installment in the franchise promises to deepen the lore of the Na'vi with the introduction of the Ash People, a fire-based clan that will present a more antagonistic side to the alien race. By publicly rejecting generative AI, Cameron is reassuring fans that despite the heavy visual effects, the emotional core of the film remains tethered to the real performances of cast members like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, and Sigourney Weaver.

The giant snake is back, but this time, Hollywood is in on the joke. Slated for a Christmas Day release in 2025, the new Anaconda movie is not just a standard creature feature"”it is a star-studded, meta-comedy reimagining that sees two comedy giants facing off against a legendary predator. Unlike the straightforward survival horror of the 90s, this 2025 version offers a unique "meta" twist. The story follows two friends facing mid-life crises"”played by Paul Rudd and Jack Black"”who decide to head into the Amazon rainforest to film an amateur remake of their favorite movie from their youth: the original 1997 Anaconda. Naturally, things go horribly wrong. While attempting to recreate the magic of the B-movie classic, they stumble into a very real survival situation involving violent criminals, natural disasters, and, of course, actual giant anacondas. Watch the Trailer here The film features a star-studded ensemble cast that leans heavily into improv-style comedy, led by Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) as Griff, a struggling actor attempting to 'find his truth' in the jungle, and Jack Black (Jumanji) as Doug, the visionary but amateur director orchestrating their chaotic remake. They are joined by Steve Zahn (The White Lotus) and Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) as the duo's skeptical childhood friends who get dragged into the ill-fated production. Rounding out the lineup are Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) and Selton Mello, with Mello"”a massive star in Brazil"”playing the eccentric local snake handler who adds crucial authenticity (and chaos) to the Amazonian setting. This distinctive meta-approach is the signature style of director Tom Gormican, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022), featuring Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself. Sony specifically tapped Gormican to bring that same brand of self-aware, affectionate mockery to Anaconda, viewing his involvement as a clear signal that the movie would deconstruct the creature feature genre rather than merely adding to it. The 2025 film is fully "in on the joke" regarding the franchise's checkered history, paying homage to the 1997 original which, despite being panned by critics, was a massive financial hit ($136 million worldwide) and became a cult classic starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube. Following a decline where the series spiraled into B-movie obscurity with titles like Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004) and made-for-TV sequels such as Anaconda 3: Offspring, Sony is now orchestrating a major revival. By casting A-listers Paul Rudd and Jack Black, the studio is aiming for a Jumanji-level box office comeback, hoping to transform this into a billion-dollar comedy blockbuster. Releasing on December 25, 2025, Anaconda is entering a crowded holiday market, sharing its release date with two major Indian productions: the emotional war biopic IKKIS and the romantic comedy entertainer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. However, analysts believe the film serves as perfect counter-programming; while its competitors target prestige drama and Bollywood romance audiences respectively, Anaconda positions itself as the fun movie for groups of friends and families looking for a laugh. With the trailer already going viral"”particularly for scenes showing Paul Rudd trying to direct a real snake"”the 2025 reboot looks set to be the surprise comedy hit of the season

Mumbai, November 22 - Disney's highly-awaited animated buddy cop comedy film Zootopia 2 is off to a phenomenal start in China, scoring one of the biggest pre-sales for a Hollywood release. The advance bookings of the movie have surpassed all previous Hollywood animated releases in the country. According to reports, Zootopia 2 pre-sales are the strongest for a Hollywood title in China in the post-pandemic era, and overall, are behind only the last two Avengers movies.
