Pictures. ## The animated fantasy action adventure film will be released on April 25, almost three months after the original release on January 29. Directed by Jiaozi, Ne Zha 2 has been a box office storm ever since its release to become the first animated title to gross $2+ billion globally. ## Ne Zha 2 has grossed $2.10+ billion at the worldwide box office so far, including $2.07 billion in China alone. The movie had already crossed $2 billion and now become the 5th biggest grosser ever worldwide. ## Made on a budget of $80 million, the animated blockbuster has overtaken Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) to climb the 5th spot among the all-time biggest grossers globally. The movie has grossed $2.08+ billion, including $2.05 billion in China alone through Sunday (March 16).## The sequel is projected to finish its box office run with $2.10 billion in the home market. Overall, the film has scored $302+ million globally so far.## The previous highest admissions in theatres for a movie of the modern era in China was Wolf Warrior 2 with 160+ million. Inside Out 2 minted $1.698 billion in its lifetime run in 2024. ## Ne Zha 2 has become a never-before-seen phenomenon which is breaking record after record. The film is likely to enter the $1 billion club at the end of the day and by the first hour of its 12th day, second Sunday. ## Before unlocking the billion club at the China box office, Ne Zha 2 scripted history on Saturday by becoming the highest-grossing movie ever in a single market, beating the Hollywood blockbuster 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens which grossed $936.7 million in North America. ## Ne Zha 2 has been running riot since its opening during the Chinese New Year weekend on January 29. The movie is setting new day-wise box office records and is about to become the biggest grosser in the country. ## Released on January 29 on Wednesday, the sequel to the 2019 movie took a massive opening of approximately $68 million before exploding during the Friday-Sunday weekend. It grossed an insane approximately $666 million (RMB 4.84B) in the first 7 days. ## This is the single-film box office record for the Chinese New Year period in the history of the Chinese box office. It is set to become the biggest grosser in China by beating 2021's The Battle at Lake Changjin, which grossed RMB 5.77 billion ($800 million) by Thursday (9 days) already. ## According to Deadline, the total Mainland grosses of all movies reached RMB 9.51B ($1.3 billion) from January 28-February 4, making it the biggest Lunar New Year weekend by outgrossing the previous record of RMB 8.02 billion. Los Angeles, May 12 - Hollywood actor and filmmaker Johnny Depp is all set to make his return to the director's chair and announced that he will be directing Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani's biopic, titled Modi. He was fondly called Modi among his friends.## The last film directed by Depp is "The Brave" which was released in 1997. According to Deadline, "Modi" will be headlined by Italian star Riccardo Scamarcio who is known for his roles in "John Wick: Chapter 2", "The Best of Youth", and Paolo Sorrentino's "Loro".## Johnny Depp will also co-produce the film alongside Al Pacino and Barry Navidi. Apart from Riccardo Scamarcio who will play the titular role, the movie will also feature Pierre Niney as French artist Maurice Utrillo, and Pacino as art collector Gangnat. ## Written by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski, "Modi" is based on Dennis McIntyre's play "Modigliani". It takes place over a 48-hour period and follows Modigliani as he tries to end his career and flee the city while being chased by the police. Japanese Anime Film 'Suzume' Creates A New Box Office Record

Tokyo, April 9 - Japanese animated fantasy adventure film Suzume has created a new box office record for an anime movie. ## Directed by Makoto Shinkai, the movie has crossed the $100 million mark (¥13.2 billion) in China, becoming the first ever Anime title to reach this landmark in a market outside Japan. It reached the $100 million mark on its 16th day after getting released on March 24 in the country.## Suzume had already become the highest-grossing Japanese film ever in China, after crossing director Shinkai's own anime blockbuster Your Name which grossed around $82 million in the country, according to Shinkai. China has been the biggest market for Suzume outside the home market Japan where it has grossed around $110 million (¥14.50 billion) so far. ## Produced by CoMix Wave Films, Suzume's worldwide gross collection is around $250 million (¥32.95 billion), including approx. $140 million internationally.
