Box Office: Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' Tops 100 Crores In India and 200 Crores Worldwide In Record Time

Chennai, October 21 - After the record-breaking opening day, Thalapathy Vijay's action drama film Leo had a fantastic hold on its second day. The movie dropped just around 45% on Friday for approx. 35 crores net after the huge opening day of approx. 65 crores net.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" topped 100 crores net in just two days, becoming the fastest Tamil movie to reach the mark by beating Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's "2.0" which scored approx. 98 crores net in the first two days. However, in terms of gross collection, "2.0" had a higher two-day collection with 126 crores than "Leo" which minted approx. 118 crores domestic gross collection.



At the overseas box office, the Thalapathy Vijay-led movie grossed an estimated 90 crores in two days, pushing worldwide collection to approx. 208 crores gross. With this, it has become the fastest Tamil movie to top 200 crores gross globally.

"Leo" got mixed to positive reception from critics as well as the audiences but it didn't affect the collection much and is unlikely to affect, at least, for the weekend. The movie is a part of director Lokesh's cinematic universe (LCU). Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" is currently the highest-grossing film in the LCU with approx. 415 crores worldwide gross. "Leo" will look to surpass this mark by the end of the first week or in the second weekend.

Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" will also become Thalapathy Vijay's highest-grossing film of all time by tomorrow by topping "Varisu" in just 4 days. The movie, in all probability, could open Thalapathy's account in 500 crores worldwide club.
