Academy Announced The Leaderboard Of Oscars Fan Favorite Movie Prize

Mumbai, March 2 - The Academy Awards 2022 is quickly approaching and the audience around the world is predicting their favorites for the Oscars. This year, the Academy, in an attempt to honour as many movies as possible, has started a new initiative named "Oscars Fan Favorite". ## In conjunction with Twitter, the Academy has created a new unofficial category as a fan-favorite movie that will be announced during this year's show. Fans can vote for their favorite movies from 2021 on Oscars' official website or can tweet with the hashtag #OscarsFanFavorite. ## The initiative was launched on February 18 and the fans can vote or tweet their favorite movie till March 3rd. Meanwhile, the Academy has announced the leaderboard of the fan-favorite poll, which includes 10 movies that will compete for the prize at the 94th Academy Awards, scheduled to held on March 27.## In the top 10 movies for the Oscars Fan Favorite category, there are only two films ("Dune", & "The Power of the Dog") that have been nominated for the Oscars' main Best Pictures category. Sony/Marvel's "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which surprisingly missed out on Best Pictures, is currently among the 10 movies in Fan Favorite. ## Universal Pictures' computer-animated jukebox musical comedy, "Sing 2", which is the highest-grossing animated movie of the pandemic era, will also be competing for the newly announced prize. After months of speculation and eagerness among the fans, Yash Raj Films finally decided to put a brake on that and announced Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's big-screen comeback with spy action thriller film, "Pathaan". ## Even though the movie has been in production since 2020, YRF finally made the official announcement regarding the same and also confirmed its arrival date. For the first time, a Shah Rukh Khan movie will be released in multiple languages as "Pathan" will hit screens on January 25, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. ## The announcement of "Pathaan" has already hyped the fans. It is currently in the last leg of production and will be completed soon. Siddharth Anand is directing this high-octane actioner that is said to be the beginning of YRF's spy universe. John Abraham and Deepika Padukone have also featured in prominent roles in the film. ## Meanwhile, the much-awaited comeback of SRK might be challenged at the box office. It will, in fact, will be challenged as Republic Day 2023 is already booked for big-ticket ariel actioner, "Fighter", starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. The "Krish" actor is in the red hot form as his last film, "War" did wonder at the box office. ## There are a lot of similarities between "Pathaan", and "Fighter", and the biggest of them is director Sidharth Anand himself, who will also be directing the Hrithik Roshan fronted. Siddharth had also directed "War". Deepika is the leading lady in both movies. ## However, there are high chances that "Fighter" may get postponed to a later date to make the road clear of "Pathaan". Siddharth Anand is not only directing this film but also is the producer along with Viacom18 Studios of it. It is unlikely that Sidharth will bring his maiden production venture on the same date as his other directorial. ## "Fighter" is not the only hurdle in the way of "Pathaan". The movie also crosses Rs. 100 crores gross at the Indian box office. ## Overseas, "Bheemla Nayak" is super strong, grossing approx. Rs. 25 crores so far. At the USA box office, the Pawan Kalyan-fronted movie has already crossed a magical milestone of $2 million. The total worldwide collection of the film currently stands at approx. Rs. 135 crores after 5 days. ## Meanwhile, Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's "Valimai" couldn't get the benefit of the holiday as it continues to take a further dip at the domestic box office. On Tuesday, the action thriller drops 20% for Rs. 3.80 crores net total for all languages. It dropped big on Monday for Rs. 4.75 crores. ## The Tuesday estimated, however, takes "Valimai" past Rs. 100 crores gross in India with approx. Rs. 102 crores. It is touted to be a unique subject with a message for the audience. Los Angeles, March 1 - The month of March is all set to kick off with the release of Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated DC Superhero movie, "The Batman". The Robert Pattinson-fronted will debut internationally on March 3rd ahead of its domestic debut on the next day. ## Warner Bros. and theater owners have high expectations from this Matt Reeves-directed, which is touted to be darker and more to be a detective story than the previous Batman movies. The movie had its world premiere on Feb. 28, in which, it received an anonymous positive response from the critics.## As far as the box office is concerned, "The Batman" is all set to take the biggest opening of 2022. The latest projections are indicating the movie to open between $115M-$145M at the domestic (North America) box office in the opening weekend. While these are just indications, it might surpass the projection to take the biggest opening in the Batman franchise of all time. ## The reboot of the Batman film franchise, The Batman may become only the 6th Hollywood movie of all time to debut with $100M+ at the domestic box office, for a film released in the month of March. Only five movies in the past have reached the box office milestone, in which, Beauty and the Beast is at number 1 with $174 million for $504 million total domestic collections.## The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the second biggest Hollywood movie to release in March with $166 million in 2016 for a $330 million lifetime domestic haul. Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel followed at number 3 with a $153 million domestic debut in 2019. It is one of the highest-grossing solo superhero movies of all time with $1.12 billion worldwide, including $426 million at the domestic box office. ## The dystopian action film The Hunger Games was the second-biggest March movie at the time of its debut in 2012. It debuted with $152 million, for $408 million total domestic cume. The Alice in Wonderland was the first $100 million domestic grosser in March with a $116 million debut at the box office. The dark fantasy movie, starring Johnny Depp, grossed $334 million during its entire domestic run. ## Moving back to "The Batman", it is set in his second year of fighting crime, the film sees Batman uncover corruption in Gotham City while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite. Mumbai, March 1 - Warner Bros. has decided to pause the release of its highly-anticipated DC movie, "The Batman" in Russia amid the continuous invasion of Ukraine. "The Batman", starring Robert Pattinson, was slated for March 3rd release in Russia, which has now been pulled at the 11th hour.## "In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia", a WarnerMedia spokesperson said in a statement. "We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy". ## Apart from Warner Bros., Sony Pictures has also taken a decision to not release its upcoming movies in Russia, including the high-profile Marvel pic "Morbius", starring Jared Leto. "Morbius" was slated for January 28 release this year, but now, postponed to April 1st.## "Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius", a Sony spokesperson said late Monday.## Russia has been one of the biggest international markets for Hollywood films. The recently released Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has so far grossed $44.5 million in Russia since its debut in December 2021. ## It is to be known that Disney was the first to take the decision of not releasing its film in Russia. Mumbai, February 28 - Kangana Ranaut-fronted spy action thriller, "Dhaakad" has been postponed from April 8 due to unknown reasons. On Monday (Feb. 28), Kangana took to Instagram and dropped a new still and announced that the movie will now release on May 27, 2022, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, languages. ## "Dhaakad" was originally announced for Hindi release only. However, due to recent developments, the makers have also decided to release the film in the dubbed South languages. It will, however, have to face stiff competition for Telugu biggie, "F3: Fun Frustration More Fun", starring Venkatesh, Varun Tej, Tamanna Bhatia, and Mehreen Pirzada. ## Apart from "F3", the long-awaited Hindi-Telugu bilingual movie, "Major", starring Adivi Sesh, will also be released on May 27, making things tough for "Dhaakad", especially in Telugu states. Interestingly, Kangana's last film "Thalaivi" had also been released in multiple languages but couldn't attract audiences to the theaters and became a box office failure. ## "Dhaakad" is touted to be an action-packed thriller film based on child trafficking and the exploitation of women. It is directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai and produced by Deepak Mukut and Sohel Maklai, and co-produced by Hunar Mukut.
