Mumbai, February 28 - Marvel/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has clearly refused to die down at the box office, be it domestic or overseas.## The superhero movie, starring Tom Holland in the title role, grossed $12.8 million worldwide this weekend, pushing the global haul to $1.85 billion. The domestic cume stands at $779.9 million while overseas, it has grossed. $1.07 billion. ## In a major achievement, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has surpassed "Titanic's" original 1997/1998 global box office run of $1.84 billion. Including revenue from the 2012 and 2017 reissues, "Titanic's" final global box office reached $2.2 billion, which is the 3rd biggest of all time. ## The Top 10 markets outside North America for "No Way Home" to date are the UK ($127.3M), Mexico ($76.2M), France ($65.2M), Korea ($63.1M), Australia ($67.9M), Brazil ($56.1M), Germany ($50M), Russia ($46.7M), India ($36.7M), Japan ($35.1M).## "Spider-Man: No Way Home" has already become the 3rd highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic (North America) box office by surpassing "Avatar's $759 million. Ukrainian Film Academy Urges For International Boycott Of Russian Cinema After Invasion

Mumbai, February 27 - Following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine earlier this week, the Ukrainian Film Academy, the national group representing the country's film professionals, has urged the international authorities to boycott Russian cinema and the Russian film industry. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, an online petition has been filed in which Academy has called on producers to stop licensing Russian movies and series, for international festivals to ban Russian films from their line-ups and for international producers to terminate any business dealings with Russian companies.## "Several films made by Russia are regularly admitted to the programs of most world film festivals, and significant resources are spent on their promotion", the petition by Ukrainian Academy reads (via THR). "We urge you to terminate all contracts with them. Remember that the business that will use your films pays taxes to the Russian budget, which finances the army that violated the borders of an independent state and buys missiles to bomb the civilian population of Europe", the statement reads.## Specifically, the Academy is calling on producers and license holders, which include Hollywood studios, to "terminate any business with business entities of the Russian Federation and not to transfer intellectual property rights to any films to the territory of the Russian Federation".## Meanwhile, there have already been cultural sanctions on Russia, with the European Broadcasting Union on Friday banning Russia from participating in its hugely-popular Eurovision Song Contest in the wake of the Ukraine invasion, besides other economical sanctions by Western governments, including the U.S., European Union, the U.K. and Canada. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, February 26 - Tamil action thriller, "Valimai", starring Ajith Kumar has opened with a bang at the box office, breaking several past records. ## Released on Feb. 24, the H Vinoth-directed has set a new record in Tamil Nadu, netting Rs. 25.30 crores on the first day. Producer Boney Kapoor has said in a recent interview that the film has come out as the best day one opening in TN on a non-holiday.## While "Valimai" mostly received a positive response from critics and audiences alike, the makers have taken note of the film's critical part, which is its prolonged run-time, especially in the second half. According to reports, Ajith Kumar, producer Boney Kapoor, and director Vinoth have taken the feedback seriously and have decided to trim the film by 14 minutes in order to make it racier. ## It is said that the Hindi version of the film gets trimmed by 15 minutes while the other version faces a 14-minutes trimming, including 2 minutes from the first half and 12 minutes from the second half. The reports state that makers have also decided to remove the first song, Naanga Vera Maari from the Hindi version. The original version was 179 minutes long which has now been reduced to 165 minutes (2 hours 45 minutes). ## "Valimai" has been praised for its high octane action sequence which, many believe, are on par with Hollywood films.
