Sony's 'Uncharted' Surpasses Warner Bros. 'The Suicide Squad' At The Domestic Box Office
Los Angeles, February 24 - The Sony Pictures' video game adaptation, "Uncharted" has surpassed the entire domestic box office total of James Gunn-directed "The Suicide Squad", starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and John Cena, among others, in just 6 days. ## The Tom Holland-fronted adventure movie, based on the popular PlayStation game series from publisher Naughty Dog, "Uncharted" has grossed $57.9 million through Wednesday (Feb. 23), overtaking "The Suicide Squad" ($55.8M) along with "The Addams Family 2" ($56.5M), and "The Boss Baby 2" ($57.3M). ## Warner Bros. "The Suicide Squad", based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad, was a day-and-date release on HBO Max in 2021 while "Uncharted" is an exclusive theatrical release, which has been Sony's top priority, despite the covid-19 pandemic. On Thursday, it will cross "Tenet" ($58.5M), and "The Croods 2" ($58.6M) entire North American box office total. ## Directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Venom"), "Uncharted" stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor Sullivan. In the film, Drake is recruited by Sullivan in a race against corrupt billionaire Santiago Moncada (Banderas) and his hired mercenary Jo Braddock (Gabrielle) to locate the treasure of the Magellan expedition.## Stay tuned...
