Netflix Acquires Streaming Rights To Sony Feature Films Starting In 2022 In US

The leading streaming giant, Netflix has grabbed gold by signing a new multiyear deal with Sony Pictures. According to the contract, Netflix will be the first to stream Sony Feature Films beginning from 2022 after they complete their theatrical run in the USA. These films include Uncharted, Morbius, Bullet Train & Where The Crawdads Sing, along with future sequels to Venom, Jumanji, Bad Boys & Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse.## Sony Pictures' primary pay-TV partner has been Starz, now owned by Lionsgate, since 2006. The new theatrical output deal with Netflix is believed to run about five years and is said to have worth hundreds of millions of dollars to the studio over the term. Industry sources said (according to Variety) Sony executives are working on another significant theatrical movie licensing pact outside the Netflix agreement.## Netflix is an obvious first pay window choice for Sony, given that the company already has a deal for its animated releases with Netflix. But the new deal is far more comprehensive and will see Sony's theatrical films from its Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Screen Gems, and TriStar Pictures studios all head to Netflix after completing their theatrical run. ## Starting in 2022, Netflix will be the first US streaming home for Sony Pictures films following their theatrical releases. One of the biggest stars of Telugu cinema, power star Pawan Kalyan's Vakeel Saab is released on April 9. The official remake of the Hindi movie "Pink", Vakeel Saab marks the comeback for PSPK in cinema after almost 3 years. His last film was Agnyaathavaasi, which was released on 10 January 2018. ## Vakeel Saab is directed by Venu Sriram and produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations in association with Boney Kapoor's Bay View Projects LLP. The recently released Tamil movie, Sulthan starring Karthi, and Rashmika Mandanna is having a successful run at the box office. Billed on a lot of expectations, the action entertainer has emerged victorious with nearly INR 25 crore in the first six days. The movie opened with INR 6.45 crores which is one of the biggest openings for Karthi. ## On Wednesday (April 7), the team of Sulthan came together in Chennai for the film's thanksgiving meet, where they spoke highly of the audience and the media's support for the film. However, some of the crew members look disappointed with negative reviews by some critics but Karthi did manage by saying that they are happy with the response the movie received. ## Apart from acknowledging the media and public support, Karthi specifically mentioned Rashmika Mandanna who made her Tamil debut with Sulthan. Karthi said that the actress's ever-expanding fanbase was one of the reasons for the film's grand opening. It is well known that fitness enthusiast Rashmika has a crazy fan following in every part of the country. ## Talking about Sulthan, it is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and co-produced by S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures. Apart from Karthi and Rashmika, the movie also stars Ramachandra Raju, Lal, Yogi Babu, and Nawab Shah in key roles. It was released on April 2 in Tamil and Telugu languages. ## Meanwhile, Rashmika has four films in the pipeline including her Bollywood debut film Mission Majnu along with one more Hindi film, Goodbye, in which she is starring alongside Amitabh Bachchan as his daughter. Amid the covid-19 second wave across the country, Salman Khan, on Wednesday (April 7), said that his long and highly-awaited, "Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai" might get postpone for the next Eid if the cases do not drop. However, the superstar said that if people follow guidelines and the second covid-19 wave dies down then "Radhe" is very much on for the Eid 2021 release i.e. May 13. ## Maharashtra, which is the biggest market for Hindi films, is under a partial lockdown, with night curfew and weekend lockdown being imposed earlier this week to curb the virus. The restrictions will remain in place till April 30 which has forced theaters to close. ## Salman was speaking at the book launch of veteran actor Kabir Bedi's memoir, titled "Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Life Of An Actor". When Bedi asked Salman about the status of Radhe, the superstar said, "We still are trying our best to release it on Eid. But if the lockdown continues, we might have to push it to the next Eid. But if people wear their masks and keep social distance, and take good care of themselves, don't go out, don't break any of these laws that the government has put on us right now, I think this (second wave) will die off really soon". ## Adding that Radhe will release this Eid if the second wave of Covid-19 dies down, Salman said a lockdown will adversely affect not only the theater owners but also the daily wage workers. "If it happens, we will have Radhe in theaters in Eid. But, if the citizens do not follow these, it will not only be a problem for theatre-owners but also the daily wage workers. It is just going to be a really bad one like it was earlier. Everyone should be really serious and ensure we kill this coronavirus and move on in our lives before it kills us all".## "The most important thing is that we had promised for last Eid. Nambi Narayanan. As a senior official at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Narayanan was in charge of the cryogenics division.
