Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone are all set to reunite once again after Piku in the Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood movie, "The Intern". While Deepika was already on board, Amitabh Bachchan replaces late Rishi Kapoor to play the lead role. The remake will be helmed by Badhaai Ho director Amit Ravindernath Sharma while it will be co-produced by Sunir Kheterpal and Deepika Padukone in association with Warner Bros India.
"The Intern is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey", Deepika had said in a statement last year.
The original "The Intern", which was directed by Nancy Meyers, starred Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in the lead roles. The film made almost $200 million worldwide. It tells the story of a widower who re-enters the workforce to get his life back on track. He finds a job as an intern at a company headed by a career-oriented woman battling her own personal challenges.
Apart from The Intern, Deepika Padukone will be seen in the sports drama 83, where she will be playing the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi Bhatia. She also has the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathan and actioner Fighter in her kitty, where she will be sharing screen space with Hrithik Roshan for the first time.
On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan has Chehre, Jhund and Brahmastra lined up for release along with Ajay Devgn directorial "Mayday".
