Sony Announces Two New Untitled Marvel Movies In 2023

Mumbai, October 23 - Sony Pictures is expanding its Marvel Universe and announced two new untitled Marvel films for the 2023 release. While the studio already has "Kraven the Hunter" for January 2023, it has also added release dates for unannounced projects on June 23, 2023, and October 6, 2023. ## While it is unclear when Sony intends to reveal what movies will fill those dates, fans have already started speculating that one of the two could be the third film in the Venom series. If the speculations are on spot, then the sequel to "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" might fill October 2023 release date as both Venom movies thus far have had October release dates. ## The third "Venom" movie is a no-brainer that it is going to be made in a live-action franchise featuring characters from the Spider-Man family, after "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" is going strong at the box worldwide. However, it will come out in October 2023, remains a secret yet. The June 2023 release date again remains the secret, and again the speculations are that it could be filled with the 4th Spidy movie in the MCU (pure rumors). ## Meanwhile, Sony has pushed Columbia Pictures' "A Journal for Jordan" to Dec. 25 of this year. The film was previously slated to premiere in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 10 before getting a wide release on Dec. 22. Additionally, TriStar Pictures' The Nightingale, previously scheduled for release on Dec. 23, 2022, has now been delayed indefinitely.## On the other hand, Sony/Marvel's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is scheduled to release on December 17, 2021, and "Morbius" is slated for January 28, 2022. Aditya Chopra's Directorial Debut 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' To Be Adapted Into A Broadway Musical

Mumbai, October 23 - Aditya Chopra is all set to mark his Broadway debut as a director with "Come Fall in Love — The DDLJ Musical", based on his 1995 blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge". The musical version of Chopra's Bollywood directorial debut will open during the 2022-23 season, producers announced on Friday.## Chopra said in a statement that while DDLJ changed his and many others' life forever, he never intended to make this film in Hindi. "As a 23-year-old young man greatly influenced by Hollywood and American pop culture, I thought I would make a couple of Indian films, and then I would be off to Hollywood and make DDLJ for a worldwide English-speaking audience with Tom Cruise as my leading man", he said. ## "Twenty-six years later, I'm going back to my original vision of the story of DDLJ, a love story of an American guy and an Indian girl, a love story of two cultures … two worlds", he added. "But this time the medium is not cinema but theater. 26 year later I will be directing DDLJ all over again but this time as an English language Broadway musical for a worldwide audience". ## He added, "I'm terribly nervous and incredibly excited". ## The show will be produced by Yash Raj Films, and it will be a collaboration between an American and Indian creative team. Nell Benjamin ("Legally Blonde", "Mean Girls") will write the book and lyrics, and the Indian songwriters Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani will compose the music. Choreography will be by Rob Ashford, who won a Tony Award for "Thoroughly Modern Millie", and Derek McLane ("Moulin Rouge!", "Hairspray Live!") will design the set.## The musical will have its world premiere at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego in September 2022, with Broadway dates to be announced later. DDLJ, which marked Chopra's debut as director at the age of 23, was both critically and commercially hit and is one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. Chennai, October 22 - Yogi Babu's acclaimed political satire comedy-drama film "Mandela" is among the 14 films shortlisted for India's entry to the Academy Awards 2022. Yogi Babu, who has become a popular name in Tamil cinema, won praise for his role in the film, which is set on the backdrop of a village panchayat election scenario between two political parties where a local barber's vote will determine the fate of the election. ## Apart from Mandela, Vidya Balan starrer "Sherni" has also been named on the list. In the film, directed by Amit V. Masurkar, Vidya plays an upright forest officer battling social barriers set by the patriarchal society and lackadaisical attitudes within her department. The movie was released directly on Amazon Prime Video and was one of the top-rated films on the streamer. ## Vicky Kaushal's recently released biographical historical drama, Sardar Udham, will also be battling out to become India's official entry in next year's Oscars. The direct-to-digital release is based on the life of Udham Singh, a revolutionary freedom fighter known for assassinating Michael O'Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, Sardar Udham is one of the highest-rated Indian films of 2021 on IMDb. ## Among the 14 films, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, and Kunchacko Boban's Malayalam film, Nayattu, has also made the cut on the list. Directed by Martin Prakkat, the movie received critical attention at the time for its tightly packed script and great performances of the actors, though there has been some criticism of its take on caste. ## The 14 selected films from across industries have reached the jury in Kolkata which contains 15 members. Filmmaker Shaji N Karun is the Chairman of the jury who will select India's final entry to the Academy Awards for the category Best International Film category. She is playing one of the female leads in this Ramesh Varma directorial. The movie is currently under the pre-production stage and will reportedly release in December this year. Chaudhary is also shooting for Hit 2 while her Tamil debut film, Kolai The Film is in the post-production stage.## SSMB28, on the other hand, marks the third collaboration between Mahesh Babu and Trivikram. Mumbai, October 22 - One of the leading multiplex chains in India, PVR Cinemas continues to increase its overall business properties. Having already 151 screens in the heartland of Hindi cinema, Maharashtra, PVR has now launched a new build six-screen luxury multiplex in Mumbai. ## Called Maison PVR, the new multiplex has been opened in Mumbai's Jio World Drive at BKC. The capacity of this luxury 6-screen multiplex is 882-seats, making it one of the largest multiplex in the area. PVR Cinemas now has 157 screens across 38 properties in Maharashtra. ## "Innovation and improvisation are in the DNA of our business which has echoed through our every offering. It is a proud moment for us to finally introduce our unique concept to the audience after the unprecedented times we battled through", said Ajay Bijli, the chairman and managing director of PVR Ltd. ## The luxury property will house two new LUXE screens and one viewing room for private screenings. The theater also features lounges, libraries with art, grand living rooms, and open kitchens with premium food concepts.## "PVR Maison is inspired by the French archetype and was born out of the quest to explore deeper and newer facets of luxury. It had a global creative team working on each aspect intricately to bring the best for our India patrons", he added.## Theaters in Maharashtra have been permitted to operate from October 22 with 50% seating capacity. Los Angeles, October 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' strategy of releasing its 2021 films day-and-date on HBO Max and in theaters is coming to haunt them big time. The Studio made it's one of the most ambitious films of 2021 "Dune" available on its streaming platform HBO Max a day before theatrical release.## However, Denis Villeneuve-directed couldn't prevent itself from hitting piracy as this epic sci-fi film leaked online in full HD quality a day before its American release. According to Variety, at least three major illegal streaming sites are hosting HD quality streaming copies of "Dune" in English, Danish, Spanish and Arabic subtitles.## Apart from leaking online, thousands of users are also hosting and sharing copies of the film on torrent sites, making it available easily to the users without getting paid. "Dune" isn't the only Hollywood blockbuster leaked online. The recently released "Black Widow" and Venom: Let There Be Carnage" had also succumbed to piracy. However, both "Black Widow" and "Venom 2" rarely leaked in high resolution unlike "Dune". ## "Black Widow" is said to be the most pirated Hollywood film ever. Just like "Dune", "Black Widow" had also been released on Disney+ and in theaters simultaneousouly. It grossed approx $380M worldwide and was also a big hit on Disney+. ## "Dune", however, despite leaking online in full HD prints, is not bothering Warner Bros. Pictures as reports say that the piracy is within normal studio expectations and it is also tracking to be half as much as other blockbusters in 2021. Meanwhile, according to a report from the Global Innovation Policy Center (via CNBC), the U.S. economy loses between $29.9 billion and $71 billion in revenue each year due to piracy.## Meanwhile, "Dune", which stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, has already been released in the international market and earned approx $130 million so far. At domestic market, where it was released on October 22, is projected to earn between $30 million and 40 million in the 3-day opening weekend. And now, the filmmaker himself clarified that "Takht" has not been shelved and will go on floors after his ongoing film "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead. ## In a conversation with Film Companion, Karan Johar explained the reason behind the project getting delayed and also said that it will be his immediate next film after the currently on floors, romantic-comedy RRKPK. "No, I am going to make that movie right after Rocky Aur Rani. I can't let that getaway. That film is a piece of my heart. It's got two and a half years of my prep work on it. We were rearing to go", Karan told. ## "I still remember we were starting on April 24 when the pandemic hit us in March. The film was so vast, voluminous and on a large scale, that on a daily basis, it needed a thousand people on set. It was that kind of film", he added. ## Calling the film his passion project, Karan further said, "I will always say, Rocky Aur Rani is my excitement project, but Takht is my passion project. Los Angeles, October 21 - There is some great news for Hulk's fans. Marvel Studios is reportedly developing the sequel to "The Incredible Hulk" (2008) which is currently being called, World War Hulk. Having starred in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Hulk is the only MCU's Phase 1 film to not have a sequel yet. ## According to GWW, the first solo film for Mark Ruffalo as Hulk will begin production in late 2022 with a likely release window in the later half of 2023 or the beginning of 2024. The first Hulk movie since 2008, likely to follow the events of the upcoming She-Hulk series on Disney+.## "The Incredible Hulk" was the only second film in MCU. Earlier, Universal Pictures had the film rights, and a movie titled "Hulk" was made under Universal in 2003, which starred Eric Bana as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
