Mumbai, October 19 - Arun Govil, known for playing Lord Ram in the iconic and epic tv serial, Ramayan, has reportedly been roped in to reprise the role in Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer "Oh My God" sequel. Govil has become synonymous with the character of Lord Ram after playing the iconic role in Ramanand Sagar's 1987 TV show. ## Directed by Amit Rai and produced by Ashwin Varde and Akshay Kumar, "Oh My God 2" is the follow-up to the 2012 blockbuster film starring Akshay and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. The sequel will feature Akshay reprising his role of Lord Krishna with Pankaj Tripathi stepping into the shoes of Paresh Rawal. Yami Gautam is said to be the leading lady in the film. ## According to India Today, Akshay Kumar was keen to bring Arun Govil on board to play Lord Ram. "There is no other face more recognizable to play Lord Ram than Arun Govil. It was a decision that the makers took unanimously", said the source to India Today.## Meanwhile, OMG 2 will be different from the first part. While the first part was based on religious fanaticism and superstitions, the sequel will reportedly be based on the Indian education system with Pankaj Tripathi taking the center stage. The shooting of the film has started recently and is expected to begin next schedule on October 23 in Ujjain. ## Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, has several films in the pipeline. While "Eternals" is still arriving on November 5, Disney and Marvel have postponed the releases of the upcoming films, starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness moving from March 25, 2022, to May 5, 2022.## Every Marvel / Disney's film has taken the release date of the next Marvel film. "Doctor Strange 2" takes the slot of "Thor: Love And Thunder", which has been pushed from May 5, 2022, to July 8, 2022, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has shifted from that July date to November 11, 2022.## Brie Larson's "Captain Marvel" sequel, "The Marvels", which was supposed to release on November 11, 2022, will now be debuting on February 17, 2023, while Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has moved from February 2023 to July 28, 2023.## The only Disney-released MCU movie to stick where it was is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, which will still be released on May 5, 2023. Meanwhile, Disney has once again pushed the untitled "Indiana Jones" movie to June 30, 2023, from the previously dated July 29, 2022. ## Disney has also moved the entire schedule of the untitled MCU films. One of those on July 28, 2023, is now the release date for the new Ant-Man movie, while the other on October 6, 2023, has not been replaced by anything.## It's still unclear why Disney has moved the release of MCU films as its recently released "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" performed very well at the box office and earned $414 million worldwide so far. The Tom Hardy starrer performed much better than some of the regional movies and earned Rs. 15.50 crores gross in all languages (Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu). ## Directed by Andy Serkis, "Venom 2" opened with Rs. 3.48 crore gross on Thursday and maintained the pace throughout the rest of the weekend with Rs. 3.77 crores on Friday, Rs. 3.45 crores on Saturday, and Rs. 3.50 crores on Sunday at the box office. The collection is without the biggest movie market in India, Maharashtra. ## "Venom 2" will debut in Maharashtra theaters on October 22 upon the reopening of cinemas in the state after almost 7 months in English and Hindi. The movie is expected to witness the jump after opening in Maharashtra including the economic capital city of India, Mumbai. ## On the worldwide front, "Venom 2" is nearing a $300 million hauls. According to a Bloomberg report (via Business, Netflix will generate approx $900 million in value for the company from the show, which is 43 times higher than the show's production cost. The report revealed that "Squid Game" cost just $21.4 million to produce, at around $2.4 million an episode. This is cheaper than most of the other Netflix shows. ## Last week, Netflix revealed that Squid Game became its biggest series launch ever with 111 million views in less than four weeks. That's the metric that Netflix, which operates a subscription model, uses to gauge the financial importance of shows. Box Office: Halloween Kills Hits Big At North America BO Despite Simultaneous Streaming Release

Los Angeles, October 17 - The worldwide box office is slowly returning to the pre-covid level with each passing day as the pandemic is slowing down. The recent box office numbers, especially in North America, are indicating that the good days are not far away for exhibitors and distributors. ## The latest Hollywood slasher film, Halloween Kills, which is a sequel to 2018's Halloween and the twelfth installment in the Halloween franchise, surprised at the domestic box office and debuted with $50.4M in a 3-day weekend from 3705 theaters, the biggest opening for a horror film in two years. ## The David Gordon Green-directed had by far the biggest opening weekend box office for any Hollywood film during the pandemic releasing both in theaters and on a streaming platform simultaneously. Halloween Kills earned approx $19 million more than Warner Bros.' Godzilla vs Kong ($31.7M) in the first weekend despite its day-and-day release on Peacock.## Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney among others, Halloween Kills was the number one film at the domestic box office weekend and doubled the second-best James Bond "No Time To Die" ($24.3M). Daniel Craig's swansong as Agent 007, the 25th Bond film is about to cross the $100M mark in North America. At the end of its second weekend, the movie stands at $99.5M while the worldwide collection is heading towards $450M without China. ## Meanwhile, Marvel/Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" grossed approx $54M this weekend at the international box office and takes its total worldwide to $284 million, including a $168M domestic collection. Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings", the biggest Hollywood blockbuster of pandemic-era, has earned over $400 million worldwide, including $218.1M in North America. ## Stay tuned...
