Los Angeles, December 10 - Marvel Studios is re-assembling its OG superheroes for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday after seemingly closing that chapter in the last Avengers film - Avengers: Endgame, back in 2019. ## After officially confirming Robert Downey Jr.'s big Marvel comeback, this time as a villain, to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), Hollywood media has reported that Chris Evans who played Captain America, is also returning to the MCU. ## According to the report by Deadline, the role of Evans isn't entirely clear at this point but he in the Captain America costume seems less likely. However, the report states it wouldn't be a shock if he reprises that iconic role as Steve Rogers though Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson character will also return as Captain America. ## It is not that Evans hasn't featured in the MCU title after Endgame, the actor recently had a cameo in the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time, the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine, as his character from the Fox/Marvel early aughts days, which are also pre-Captain America: Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four movies.## Deadline has also reported that apart from Downey Jr., and Evans, many other Marvel OG superheroes are expected to return for Doomsday. Benedict Cumberbatch has already confirmed his appearance as Doctor Strange in this highly anticipated blockbuster while it is also being speculated that Tom Holland would feature in the film. ## The shoot of Doomsday will kick off next year as the movie is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 1st, 2026. The film grossed a tsunamic $225 million over 5-days, a Thanksgiving record and the biggest opening for an animated title. ## Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-led Wicked was the second-best movie during the same frame, which was its second weekend with a gigantic $119.5 million, helping its total domestic cume to reach $262 million in 10 days. Los Angeles, December 1 - Dinsey's animated musical adventure film Moana puts itself in the history book with the record-breaking opening at the domestic and worldwide box office over a 5-day Thanksgiving weekend. ## The Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson voiced blockbuster sequel has beaten Frozen 2 ($358 million) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($375.6 million) to score the biggest worldwide opening for an animated title after a massive $389.2 million over 5-day weekend. ## Moana 2 grossed a gigantic $225.2 million over the 5-day biggest Thanksgiving weekend of all time and the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America) box office. Overseas, the film scored a huge $164 million from 48 overseas markets. ## France was the biggest overseas market for Moana 2 with $18.8 million opening weekend, followed by the UK with $15.5 million, and Mexico at $11.1 million. Chennai, October 31 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's biographical war action drama film Amaran has taken an excellent start at the domestic box office, surpassing all the expectations to deliver the career-best opening for the actor by more than a double margin. ## Amaran was already creating sensation in the advance sales which is one of the highest of the year for a Tamil title. The fantastic pre-sales ensured the big opening but the positive audience reports led to rock-solid spot booking which provided a major boost to the overall collections. ## According to the early estimates, the movie is expected to gross 16-17 crores in Tamil Nadu which is the highest opening for the actor and third biggest of 2024. Amaran is also off to a good start in Telugu states and is estimated to gross in the range of 4.50 crores on its first day. ## In Karnataka, the movie is estimated to score in the range of 2 crore gross while in Kerala and the rest of India market, the gross collection is expected to be in the range of 1.75 crores. Overall, Amaran is estimated to gross 24-25 crores opening in India which is excellent and one of the biggest for a non-superstar. ## One more movie which hit the big screens today is Dulquer Salmaan's Telugu movie Lucky Baskhar. The pre-sales for the movie were decent but the excellent response in the previews, followed by extremely positive word of mouth led to fantastic spot booking. ## According to early estimates, Lucky Bhaskar is expected to gross in the range of 3.75-4 crores in Telugu states while in Kerala, the movie is likely to bring in 1.75-2 crores gross. The film is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the title roles. ## Deadpool and Wolverine will start streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar on November 12 in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages, 108 days after its theatrical release on July 26. It will also stream in the US on the same date on Disney Plus. ## The third instalment of the Deadpool franchise is the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time with a worldwide box office collection of $1.33 billion. Los Angeles, October 30 - Disney's hugely-anticipated animated musical adventure film Moana 2 is bracing up for a massive opening at the domestic (North America) box office after pre-sales off to record start for an animated movie of 2024.## According to the online ticketing platform Fandango, the Walt Disney Animation Studios tentpole set records Monday in terms of first-day advance ticket sales for 2024 animated titles, beating Disney/Pixar's billion-dollar grosser Inside Out 2. The platform didn't provide pre-sales numbers. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first-day pre-sales of Moana 2 are the fourth best for any movie of 2024, behind only Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked and Dune: Part 2.
