Mumbai, May 18 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has flexed his star power at the Indian box office with his latest blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning which has exceeded expectations to score the biggest opening for a non-Marvel and Avatar movie, and one of the biggest for a Hollywood title.
As per the estimates, the spy action thriller scored approximately 20 crores gross (16.50+ crores net) collection in all versions on its Saturday opening day. With this, it has beaten Oppenheimer (17.25 crores gross) to score the biggest Hollywood opening (excluding superhero and Avatar movies).
Overall, The Final Reckoning has delivered the 8th biggest opening day for a non-Indian movie, behind Thor: Love and Thunder, which grossed approximately 22 crores. Avengers: Endgame remains the top opener with approximately 65 crores gross, followed by Avatar: The Way of Water (48.50+ crores gross).
The word of mouth for this Cruise-starrer is positive, which should help to post a big Sunday. It needs to be seen how it performs during the weekdays, but early signs are positive for a strong run at the box office.
