Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyan' Announces October 2024 Release; Date Revealed

Chennai, April 7 - Tamil superstar Rajinikanth teamed up with Jai Bhim director T. J. Gnanavel for an action drama film, titled Vettaiyan, produced by Lyca Productions. ## Vettaiyan is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year and the makers have locked the October 2024 release date in multiple languages. While the exact date is not revealed yet, reports say that the film will hit big screens on October 31st on the occasion of Diwali. ## The film boasts a solid star cast which also includes legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and Ritika Singh, among others. Mumbai, January 17 - Netflix has been on an announcement spree regarding the post-theatrical streaming slate of South Indian films. The streamer recently announced several Telugu films which will stream on its platform after their theatrical run and now, it has announced Tamil titles. ## One of the biggest Tamil films to stream on Netflix after its theatrical release is superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced but it is expected to release either Diwali this year or Sankranthi 2025. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. ## Netflix also has Lyca's Indian 2, starring legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Indian", it is easily one of the Tamil films of the year, scheduled to release during summer. It will be available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, post its theatrical release. ## Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama Thangalaan, directed by directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, is also grabbed by Netflix. The movie is announced for theatrical release in April 2024. Mumbai, November 29 - After completing its box office run, Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster Leo recently started streaming on Netflix, and surprisingly, the Hindi version turned out to be the most-watched in India in its first weekend. ## "Leo" debuted on Netflix on November 24 in India while it started streaming globally on November 28. Chennai, November 20 - Thalapathy Vijay's action blockbuster Leo is nearing its box office run after debuting in theatres on October 19. The Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial has grossed over 600 crores at the worldwide box office and is currently the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. ## There is not much gas left in the film to fire at the box office, and as pre-scheduled, the gangster drama is gearing up for its streaming debut on Netflix. The shoot of the movie is currently in progress for 2024 release, and as speculated, the movie will be released in two parts.## Over the last few months, it has been reported that director Shankar would split the "Indian" sequel into 2 parts as the story of the movie can't be told in one film. Superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" is the third highest-grossing movie in the state with over 189 crores. ## "Leo" has been on a dream run since its debut on October 19. The movie has slowed down over the last few days but still has enough gas in it to keep going. The film is now targeting history in Tamil Nadu of becoming the biggest-grosser by crossing "PS-1's" 213 crores gross. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" has grossed approximately 561 crores at the worldwide box office in 16 days. The Rajini-led movie scored approximately 189.50 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu and "Leo" scored around 191.50 crores. It is now behind only Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" which grossed approx. 213 crores last year. ## "Leo" will become only the second movie to top 200 crores gross in Tamil Nadu and it is heading towards finishing around 210 crores gross.
