Hindi Box Office Success of Prabhas-Fronted 'Kalki 2898 AD' Inspired Early Release of Suriya's 'Kanguva'

Chennai, July 10 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action thriller Kanguva with director Siva is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a proper Pan India tentpole. ## The makers have been careful about Kanguva's release and were looking to bring it on the big screen after Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule which is scheduled to release on December 6 this year. However, the success of the recently released Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD changed everything. ## During a recent interview, Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green opened up that he was looking to postpone the movie further to the next year but then Kalki 2898 AD happened and made him change his mind due to its strong box office performance in North India. ## "I didn't sleep for three days ahead of Kalki 2898 AD's release. Because its success or failure will directly impact every South film released in the North. The trust of the audience and trade would have gone away from South films that are released in Hindi if Kalki hadn't worked", the filmmaker told Galatta Plus. ## Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, has been a force at the Hindi box office. It has already become the biggest grosser of the year in Hindi with over 225 crores net collection and still going strong while worldwide, the movie is nearing 900 crores gross.## "I announced the release date for Kanguva the day Kalki was released after it started performing well in Hindi-speaking states. Otherwise, I would have waited for the release of Pushpa 2 to bring back the positivity. As a producer, I need to find the right time to release, devise the right promotional strategy, and ensure the quality of the content", KE Gnanavel Raja added.## Kanguva is scheduled to be released on October 10, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Kanguva 2: Makers Officially Announce Sequel To Suriya's 'Kanguva'; Shooting And Release Plans Locked

Chennai, July 9 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action Kanguva is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and even before its release, the makers have officially confirmed its sequel. The movie is directed by Siva whose last directorial venture was superstar Rajinikanth's Annaatthe (2021).## As Kanguva is gearing up for the Pan India release on October 10 this year, producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, confirmed in a recent interview that there will be two parts of Kanguva. The filmmaker revealed that they wrote the story for both parts and finished shooting for the first one. ## The filmmaker further revealed that Kanguva Part 1 was shot in over 185 days and the shoot for the second part will start at the end of 2025 or early 2026 as the makers are planning to release in January or summer of 2027. Director Shankar Reveals Reason Behind Splitting Indian 2 In Two Parts

Chennai, June 26 - Legendary Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy to fight corruption in the country in the sequel to his 1996 film, Indian. Directed by S. Shankar, the first of the two-part Indian 2 is set to hit screens on July 12 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. ## Originally, Indian 2 was planned as a single movie but the makers have now split it into two parts. At the trailer launch event on June 25, director Shankar and Kamal Haasan talked about the reasons behind splitting the movie into two parts. ## While Kamal Haasan revealed that bringing the film in 2 parts was purely director Shankar's decision as he was the right man to judge his script, the director said that the decision was taken due to the demand of the script which is lengthy and goes from regional to pan India. ## Shankar explained that the story of the film, which is based on corruption, revolves around just 1 state in Indian 2 but as the story spreads all over the country, it became important to tell this in another part, which is Indian 3. The first part is over 3 hours long. ## "Our initial idea was to do only one part. After I started filming and when I sat in the editing room, all the scenes from my point of view came out very well. If, for the sake of it, you have to make it in one part, if I compressed the whole thing, the soul of every scene, the feel of every scene would have been lost". Shankar clarified (via Times of India).## Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, appreciated the hard work put in by director Shankar and Lyca Productions to stay with the film despite many hurdles. In case you don't know, Indian 2 has been in the making since 2019, but the production was halted due to an accident in 2020 while filming that killed some crew members before the COVID-19 pandemic put a further dent. Prabhas' 'Kalki 2898 AD' Worldwide Pre-Release Business Details

Hyderabad, June 22 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit the big screens on June 27 amid massive expectations. The second trailer, which was launched on June 21, has raised excitement among the fans and trade which is expecting the movie to do wonders at the box office. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to do a huge worldwide theatrical business as the makers locked record deals for all major areas. According to T2BLive.com, the worldwide business of the film has been valued at 370 crores with a break-even target is 372 crores. ## Kalki will need to score over 700 crores gross collection to emerge as a clean hit and if it does not reach its target mark, the makers will need to return the balance amount to buyers to make for their losses, however, the film is expected to project to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.## In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Kalki 2898 AD theatrical business has been valued at 168 crores, including 65 crores in Nizam, 27 crores in Ceeded, 21 crores in UA, 14 and 10 crores in East and West, respectively, 12 crores each for Guntur and Krishna and 7 crores for Nallore area. Box Office: Vijay Sethupathi's 'Maharaja' Scored Excellent Opening Weekend

Chennai, June 17 - The Tamil film industry has returned to winning ways with a fourth success within two months at the domestic box office. After no-hit for the first four months of the year, the industry scored first hit in horror-comedy Aranmanai 4, followed by Garudan. Now, Vijay Setupathi's Maharaja joins the list. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja was released on June 14 and scored an excellent first weekend at the domestic box office with approximately 25.15 crores gross mark, which is the second biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2024, behind Dhanush's Captain Miller. ## Maharaja opened to an estimated 5.40 crores gross collection, including 1.20 crores in Telugu. The action thriller witnessed a big jump of over 60% on Saturday to score an estimated 9 crores gross, and there was a further jump of around 20% on Sunday for around 10.75 crores gross. ## The Tamil version of Maharaja has minted an estimated 19 crores gross while the Telugu version has grossed approximately 6 crores gross. The movie surpassed expectations after opening to excellent reviews and audience word of mouth. ## Maharaja is expected to have another solid day today due to the Bakrid holiday. Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. The movie joined horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 as the only Tamil movie of 2024 to score success at the box office. ## Directed by R. S.
