Karan Johar Plans To Produce Biographical War Epic For Every Independence Day

Mumbai, August 29, 2021: Karan Johar is one of the biggest filmmakers in the Bollywood film industry. Over the years, he has produced and directed some of the most critically and commercially acclaimed films. The star producer has his hands full of blockbuster movies. ## Karan Johar under his production house, Dharma Productions has plenty of films lined up including Sooryavanshi, Brahmastra, Liger, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, among few others. Apart from these movies, the filmmaker has a plan to produce biographical war epics every Independence day. ## According to reports, Karan Johar, after the critical and mass success of two war-hero bio-pics - Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl in 2020 and Shershaah in 2021, which were both released during the Independence Day weekend, intends to make his Independence Day films a regular occurrence. He has already acquired the biopic rights of a Gandhian and freedom fighter of India, Usha Mehta, which will be released during Independence day weekend in 2022. ## Usha Mehta, who ran an underground pirate radio called Congress Radio during the Quit India Movement and gave tough time to the British Government, was conferred with Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award of India, post-Independence. Her biopic will be directed by Kannan Iyer. ## Apart from Mehta's biopic, Karan recently announced the untold story of C. Sankaran Nair, who fought a legendary courtroom battle to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. However, he is also aware that the movie was ready to release for a long time now, and keeping that in mind, the makers took a decision to release it on the digital platform. ## "After looking at the love and response from the audience, I know for sure that this would not have disappointed at the box office. That being said, we were ready last July and the film was shot keeping the big screen in mind. But this is the new norm. We may not have a full capacity of screens this year and that wouldn't do justice to a film of this scale. Hence, we decided to bring it to the small screen at everyone's home", Sidharth said to Pinkvilla. ## Shershaah also stars Kiara Advani as the female lead. She played the role of Dimple Cheema, Batra's love interest, and was lauded for doing justice to the charactor. The film was produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment. 'Bell Bottom' Director Ranjit Tewari Revealed Casting Lara Dutta As Indira Gandhi Was Akshay Kumar's Idea

Mumbai, August 18, 2021: Ever since the trailer of Akshay Kumar starrer "Bell Bottom", has released, the transformation of Lara Dutta as Indira Gandhi has become a talking point among the fans on social media. ## In an interview with IANS, director Ranjit M. Tewari shared why Lara Dutta was selected for the role despite her facial features not being similar to those of the late former prime minister. The director revealed casting Lara as Indira Gandhi was Akshay's idea while her transformation could be possible because of the science of prosthetics. ## "This was one of the important casting decisions for my film. If we look at Lara in real life, she carries herself with a lot of dignity and has a very strong personality. Initially, the idea of casting Lara came from Akshay sir, so the credit goes to him. Then I was wondering how to make her look like Mrs. Gandhi. She does not look like her in any way", Tewari said. ## "I had two options: either we make Lara look exactly like Mrs. Gandhi, or create a similar look, keeping the essence of the 'Mrs. Gandhi look'. Then I sat with (the makeup artist) Vikram Gaikwad and after several discussions and photoshop sessions, finally, we went for prosthetics". ## "For the first time, when she had 70 percent of her prosthetics on, I saw Lara in her Mrs. Gandhi look. I was like, 'That's it! We found the look!' I am very happy that the effort that has gone into her look has been appreciated.
