Pondicherry, June 30, 2021: Actress Raashii Khanna seems to be super busy these days with a lot of projects of her are in the pipeline. The Tholi Prema fame currently working on as many as 8 films along with two Hindi web series with Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgn. ## Meanwhile, Raashii has commenced the final shooting schedule of the Malayalam remake of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Hindi film Andhadhun. The Malayalam remake, titled Bhramam, stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead reprising Ayushmann's role along with Unni Mukundan, and Mamta Mohandas. ## Raashii headed off to Pondicherry to shoot for the last schedule of the film, directed by Ravi K. Chandran and produced by AP International. ## "Shooting for 'Bhramam' has been an incredible journey. The experience of being directed by Ravi K. Chandran and working alongside Prithviraj has been amazing. I'm glad we're on our way to wrap up the shooting despite the challenges of the time. Top Filmmakers Have Written Against The Government's Proposed Changes To Cinematograph Act

Mumbai, June 30, 2021: Some of the top filmmakers of the country - Vetrimaaran, Anuraga Kashyap, Kamal Haasan, Hansal Mehta, among others have slammed the union government for proposed amendments to the 1952 Cinematograph Act, which, after the proposed changes, will grant the Centre "revisionary powers" and allow it to "re-examine" films that have already been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). ## These actors and filmmakers have written an open letter to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) opposing the government's proposed amendments to the 1952 Cinematograph Act. The letter was written just days after filmmaker-musician Vishal Bhardwaj used Twitter to urge his peers in the industry to oppose the move. ## I urge the Indian film fraternity and film lovers to oppose this unfair and unreasonable provision by writing an email to [email protected] and sharing their opinion before the deadline of 2 July. @producers_guild @DirectorsIFTDA @fwicemum— Vishal Bhardwaj (@VishalBhardwaj) June 25, 2021 ## On Sunday evening, filmmaker Prateek Vats and documentary filmmaker Shilpi Gulati, along with an academician and a lawyer, produced an online letter with over 1400 signatories from various walks of life.## "As another blow to the film fraternity, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has proposed new amendments to the Cinematograph Act under which the Central Government would have the power to revoke or recall certification of films which have already been cleared by the Censor Board", the letter read. ## "Undermining the sovereignty of the Censor Board and the Supreme Court, this provision will effectively give the Central Government supreme power over cinema exhibition in the country potentially endangering freedom of expression and democratic dissent".## "This will also render filmmakers powerless at the hands of the state as more vulnerable to threats, vandalism, and intimidation of mob censors. The proposal to amend the Cinematograph Act comes two month Centre dissolved the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) in April 2021", the letter said.## Kamal Haasan, who has often criticized the BJP-led central government, has again come hard on the government and slammed the proposed changes. "Cinema, media and the literati cannot afford to be the three iconic monkeys of India. Chennai, June 30, 2021: Two brilliant filmmakers and multiple national award winners, actor Kamal Haasan and director Vetrimaaran will reportadly be teaming up for the first time for a film. This film, like Vetri Maaran's previous blockbusters, too is said to be based on a popular novel and will be made with a huge budget.## It is also said that famous producer Anbu Chezhiyan of Gopuram Film has arranged this meet and Haasan has given his nod for the script narrated by the Asuran filmmaker. The official announcement is expected to be made soon once the paperwork is done. ## Earlier, Kamal Haasan was supposed to do films with Mysskin and Selvaraghavan but those projects never happened after the actor interfered and tried to make changes in the script. Los Angeles, June 29, 2021: Hollywood star Vin Diesel has praised Universal Pictures for going outright theatrical release of long-awaited, F9. The actor, who fronted the latest installment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise, along with John Cena and others, is all praise for the studio to support theaters amid the covid-19 pandemic. ## "You can't fault another studio for wanting to stream a movie, but the ones like Universal are bold enough to say, 'Hey, we're going to support the theatrical release. I take my hat off to them", Diesel said to variety. ## The Justin Lin directorial, F9 debuted in the USA on June 25 and broke the pandemic era box office record in the domestic market. He had said that he will be producing this action thriller film under his banner JA Entertainment. ## While the casting of the film was not announced then, it has now been said that John Abraham will play one of the lead roles in the film. And to make things even more interesting, Abhishek Bachchan, who has starred with John in Dostana and Dhoom earlier, will reportadly reunite with him in the Ayyappanum Koshiyum Hindi remake. ## The official announcement on the casting is yet to be made, but according to reports, John and Abhishek will step into the shoes of Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively. Mumbai, June 29, 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Tuesday (June 29) that ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17 to November 14. It was earlier scheduled to be held in India but due to the covid-19 pandemic, it has been moved out of the country. The BCCI, however, will still be remained the host of the tournament. ## "Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 safely, in full, and in its current window. Whilst we are incredibly disappointed not to be hosting the event in India, the decision gives us the certainty we need to stage the event in a country that is a proven international host of multi-team events in a bio-secure environment", said acting ICC CEO Geoff Allardice. ## "The BCCI is looking forward to hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 tournament in UAE and Oman. We would have been happier hosting it in India but considering the uncertainty due to the COVID-19 situation and the importance of a world championship, the BCCI will now continue to host this tournament in UAE and Oman", said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.## For matches to be played, four venues, which have been shortlisted are - Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. ## The first round of the tournament, comprising the eight qualifying teams, will be split between Oman and UAE. The four teams progressing to the Super 12s round will be joined by the eight automatic qualifiers. Chennai, June 29, 2021: Actor Sivakarthikeyan's medical action film, Doctor, has been a talk of the town for a long time now. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is ready for release since the last year, however, due to the covid-19 pandemic, it kept getting postponed. The movie was all set to hit theaters on March 26, 2021, however, due to the elections in Tamil Nadu, makers again postponed the release indefinitely. ## While the makers had a chance to release the "Doctor" in March this year before they announced the postponement, the second covid-19 wave made sure their wait gets longer if they still want theatrical release. As of June 2021, there are still no signs of releasing the movie anytime soon. However, there are a lot of rumors that have started making noise regarding the medium "Doctor" will release on. ## Recently, the producer of the film, KJR Studios had announced that the film will get the right release when things become normal. Ever since it has been speculated that Doctor has been sold to Disney+Hostar for direct-to-digital release in 4 South Indian languages. However, there is no official confirmation yet from the makers of the film. ## On the other hand, as per the latest buzz in Kollywood, the movie is still very much in line to get a theatrical release. While Disney Plus indeed approached the "Doctor" team to grab the streaming rights, it has also been said that the streaming giant also wanted the satellite rights to be given to Vijay TV. But KJR Studios had already inked a deal with Sun TV for the TV premiere, so things didn't go as per plan. ## And now, if there is anything to go by the buzz, Doctor will be hitting theaters on August 14 or 15 this year. However, the OTT release of the film can not be ruled out as theaters in Tamil Nadu are yet to reopen, which may (or already) force the makers to take the OTT route. It will be interesting to see what medium makers choose to release the film.## Priyanka Arul Mohan plays Sivakarthikeyan's pair in the film while Vinay Rai plays the antagonist. Mumbai, June 29, 2021: Recently, it was reported that Akshay Kumar will be doing one more film with the makers of his upcoming spy thriller film, Bell Bottom (scheduled to release on July 27). It was said that producer Vashu Bhagnani narrated the script to Akshay during the shoot of Bell Bottom and was agreed to star in it. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon, the reports were indeed true and the movie is the official remake of the 2018 Tamil psychological crime thriller film, Ratsasan. The report said that Akshay will be stepping into the shoes of Vishnu Vishal in the critically-acclaimed film. Rakul Preet Singh has reportadly been cast opposite Akshay to play the female lead. ## It will be directed by Ranjit M Tewari, who also helmed Bell Bottom while Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment will be producing it. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on the floors in August in London following the bio-bubble protocols. Hyderabad, June 28, 2021: Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to be directed by Mohan Raja for the first time in the Telugu remake of the 2019 Malayalam film, Lucifer, starring superstar Mohanlal. While the original Lucifer was a political drama film, the Telugu remake is said to be gone through a lot of changes to appeal to the mass audience. ## Mohan Raja has said to be re-worked on the script and now the Telugu version will have new flashback episodes where Chiranjeevi will have a romantic story. The Telugu remake will reportadly have Nayanthara romancing the superstar in the film, for which, Nayan's role has been given a significant space unlike Manju Warrior;s in original film. ## It will be Chiranjeevi's 153th film of his career which will be jointly produced by Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films. Chennai, June 28, 2021: The dynamic trio of Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha Akkineni, and Nayanthara have teamed up together for the first time in Vignesh Shivan's Tamil romantic comedy "Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal". ## While Samantha and Nayanthara have already worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Super Deluxe and Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, respectively, it is also the first time when two leading ladies of South India working together in a film. ## The shooting of the film was supposed to take place in April 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. In May 2020, the production house announced that the film will go on floors from August 2020. On 10 December 2020, the team officially kickstarted the film on floors in Chennai. ## And now, according to reports, only 15 days of shoot left for Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, and the team is gearing up for the release in October this year in theaters. Apart from direction, Vignesh Shivan has also written and jointly produced the film with Nayanthara and Lalit Kumar under the banners of Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio. ## Earlier in February on Valentine’s Day, director Vignesh Shivan unveiled the title logo and revealed that his fourth feature film is titled 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal'.
