Mumbai, August 7, 2021: Kartik Aaryan has started shooting for his next film, Freddy. The romantic thriller is being helmed by Veere Di Wedding fame Shashanka Ghosh while Ekta Kapoor and Jay Shewakramani have bankrolled this under their production banner Balaji Telefilms and Northern Lights Films. ## And now, the leading lady of the film has been finalized to romance Freddy aka Kartik. According to reports, Jawaani Jaaneman actress, Alaya F, has signed the film. It is Alaya's second film under Ekta Kapoor's banner. She was recently announced to star in the Hindi remake of the Kannada movie, U-Turn. ## Freddy is Alaya's third film. She made her debut with Jawaani Jaaneman and later singed U-Turn. She won the Filmfare Award for the best female debut in Jawaani Jaaneman. Freddy is her first collaboration with Kartik. However, due to the tensions in the region, the filmmakers began to avoid shooting here. And now, to make J&K a shooting hub, the government is working towards it taking important steps to invite filmmakers to shoot their projects. ## In this process, Lt governer of J&K Manoj Sinha, the presence of actor Aamir Khan, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, and producer Mahaveer Jain launched a new Jammu & Kashmir's Film Policy-2021 in Srinagar, on Thursday (August 5). ## "I invite filmmakers from across the world to explore the beauty of J&K. At the same time, also avail a host of incentives, besides world-class facilities", Sinha said. The government has set up a single-window clearance mechanism; prepared equipment, location, and talent directories, besides offering a host of incentives for filmmakers coming to the UT.## The policy will facilitate overall growth of the film industry in the region, setting up of J&K Film Development Council, a website for talent pool and shooting destinations; development of shooting locales, infrastructure for film screening, the revival of closed cinema halls, upgrade of cinema halls, setting up of multiplexes and cinema halls, destination marketing, J&K film festival, and restoration and preservation of J&K films.## "The new policy also aims at maximizing the potential of promising local talent and creating livelihood opportunities. The policy has been drafted after consultation with experts and in-depth study of similar policies of other states/UTs. Suggestions of renowned personalities of the film industry have also been incorporated", the L-G added. ## Sinha said to assist in film shooting, they have manpower of more than 1,500 trained artists which will also provide an opportunity to the local talent. As part of this collaboration, the next four Tamil movies from 2D Entertainment will premiere directly on Prime Video worldwide, over the next four months, starting from September. ## Interestingly, Suriya's last film as an actor, Soorarai Pottru, was also directly premiered on Amazon Prime Video and got a thundering response from viewers all around the world. Meanwhile, a day before the title announcement, Sun Pictures introduced the stellar star cast of D44. The Mission Mangal actress, Nithya Menon has been roped in to play one of the female leads. She will be sharing screen space with Dhanush for the first time, and she is likely to be paired opposite his character in the post-college portions. ## Raashii Khanna has also been roped in to play an important role. There were rumors that Hansika might be pairing up with Dhanush after 2011's Maappillai, however, the makers have finally roped in Raashi for this multi-starrer. The National Award-winning actor, Prakash Raj, has also been confirmed to be acting alongside Dhanush for the third time, after Thiruvilayadal Aarambam (2006), and Asuran (2019).## Priya Bhavani Shankar, who will be starring in Kamal Haasan's much-awaited, Indian 2, is confirmed in D44, and likely to be seen in the college portions in the film. The veteran actor, Bharathirajaa, is another actor who comes on board for D44. He will be acting alongside Dhanush for the first in this film. ## Meanwhile, Dhanush is currently shooting for director Karthick Naren's "Maaran". The shooting is in its final leg and will soon be wrapped up. Dhanush also completed his Hollywood debut film, "The Gray Man", directed by Russo Brothers. The actor also has Aayirathil Oruvan 2, Naane Varuven, Sekhar Kammula's trilingual film, and Venki Atluri's next Telugu flick. ## Stay tuned...
