Mumbai, August 10, 2021: Actress Kareena Kapoor is all set to turn producer for the first time for director Hansal Mehta's next film. Kareena has signed the film which is a gritty thriller, inspired by a real-life incident. The yet-untitled film will be co-produced by Kareena and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms. ## Having enjoyed an envy-inducing career over the past two decades, Kareena is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Set in the UK, it's her first venture for the actress since the birth of her second son Jehangir. "I'm honored to work as a producer on this film with Ekta. I am a huge fan of Hansal's movies, and to work with him for the first time will be special. This film marks a lot of firsts", Kareena said. ## Hansal Mehta, who already has Faraaz and Kartik Aaryan-led Captain India in the pipeline, is intended to take Kareena's film on floors soon. With two powerhouses of talent (Kareena and Ekta), Mehta aims to create a gripping and moody thriller that will do justice to Kareena's talent as an actor.## On the other hand, Ekta had previously teamed up with Kareena on Veere Di Wedding (2018). The actor-director duo joined hands for the third time after Athadu (2005), and Khaleja (2010), for their next film, tentatively titled, SSMB28 (Babu's 28th film). ## Now, on August 9 on Mahesh Babu's birthday, the makers announced the cast & crew of the film, wishing SSMB a very happy birthday. As speculated earlier, the Maharshi combo of Mahesh Babu and Pooja Hegde will be reuniting in SSMB28. Pooja Hegde is a busy bee these days, and now with SSMB28, the actress adds more film to her growing list. ## SSMB will be produced by S. Los Angeles, August 9, 2021: Warner Bros. R-rated comic book adaptation, The Suicide Squad, has had a disappointing debut at the domestic box office. The James Gunn directorial collects only $26.5 million from 4,002 North American theatres, $3.5 million short from Warner Bros. prediction of $30 million domestic debut. ## There are many factors that went against the film's strong opening, including the growing concerns of the delta variant of the covid-19, the Warner Bros. film's hybrid release on HBO Max at no extra cost to subscribers, and its R-rating. The makers cost $185 million on film's making, and its low performance will surely make Warner Bros. rethink its simultaneous release strategy. ## At the international box office, 'The Suicide Squad ' added another $45.7 million from 70 overseas territories, bringing its global tally to $72.2 million. The standalone sequel to Suicide Squad (2016), opened with largely positive reviews from critics and audiences but it fell way short to reprise the success of the original movie. ## The original Suicide Squad had a massive $133.7 million opening weekend at the North American box office. Despite those eye-popping numbers, critics and audiences were left unimpressed by the film, though it ended up grossing $746 million worldwide. Of course, that film didn`t open during a deadly pandemic and wasn`t offered simultaneously on HBO Max. ## While it's still unclear how many HBO Max customers watched the film at home—and how many more were enticed to sign up for the streaming service - it is clear that the film's $185 million production budget is going to be tough to turn into the sort of huge moneymaker that comic-book movies were guaranteed to be prior to the pandemic. ## The Suicide Squad stars an ensemble cast including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Peter Capaldi. The teaser, which is titled Superstar Birthday Blaster, was supposed to release at 9:09 am on August 9, the makers decided to drop it hours before the actual time to surprise the fans. ## The teaser video, which is 1 minute and 16 seconds long, is all about Mahesh Babu's intriguing character in the film and his chemistry with the leading lady of the film, Keerthy Suresh. The teaser showcased Babu's personified swag which he has carried throughout his career. It also shows the high-octane action sequences. ## The teaser begins with Babu's stunning entry from a red-car and his massy dialogue, "If Tiger takes a rabbit, how it will be? It'll be interesting to see how the actress, a firebrand in her own right, essays the role of one of India's most powerful women politicians who was a lioness in her prime. Directed by A. L. Vijay, Thalaivi will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. ## Gangubai Kathiawadi - Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi stars Alia Bhatt in the title role. The movie narrates the true story of young Ganga who in no time marks her own territory and becomes Gangubai – a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura. The biographical crime drama is based on the book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The movie boost with a solid cast led by supremely talented Alia and fans' can't wait to watch the movie on the big screens. ## 83 - A much-awaited biographical sports film directed by Kabir Khan, '83' stars Ranveer Singh as Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev. The film chronicles the glorious moments of the 1983 cricket World Cup, which India had won for the first time under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. '83' features an ensemble cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar, and Amrita Puri. ## Maidaan - Ajay Devgn is all set to bring back the golden era of Indian football (1952-1962) with the upcoming biopic 'Maidaan'. The film is based on legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, played by Ajay Devgn, who coached the Indian football team from 1950 to 1963. It is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Bayview Projects LLP. As of now, the movie is slated for release on October 15, 2021. ## Dhyan Chand's biopic - Producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Abhishek Chaubey, who previously came together for the late Sushant Singh Rajpur starrer Sonchiriya, are collaborating again, this time with Premnath Rajagopalan as co-producer to bring the story of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand, to the big screen. The biopic is yet to hit the floors but it is definitely one of the most-awaited biopics.
