Hyderabad, August 14, 2021: Telugu cinema is again leading from the front after the second covid-19 wave with back-to-back releasing movies in theaters. In the process, debutante director Naresh Kuppili's "Paagal" has been released in theaters on August 14. Starring Vishwak Sen and Nivetha Pethuraj, Paagal is the biggest Telugu release so far after the second wave. ## Paagal is produced by Bekkem Venugopal under the banner of Lucky Media while Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations has presented the movie. Los Angeles, August 14, 2021: Amid the criticism of its theatrical - Disney+ Premier model, Disney has been able to crack a deal with Oscar winner, Emma Stone to return to star in the sequel to crime comedy film "Cruella", based on the character Cruella de Vil from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians. ## Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Disney opted for a two-way release on theaters and on Disney+ PVOD tier for some of its releases including "Cruella", which debuted on May 26 this year. The movie earned more than $222 million in worldwide ticket sales, making it a fruitful outing for Disney. Stone joins returning director Craig Gillespie and returning writer Tony McNamara in the sequel ## Earlier, Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney over its hybrid release model, alleging that it has breached her contract which reportadly promised an exclusive theatrical release of her films. After Johansson's lawsuit, there were speculations that Emma Stone might also take the same route over Cruella's release, however, that hasn't happened yet. ## Dwayne Johnson, however, supported Disney for its release model during the pandemic for his action-adventure film, Jungle Cruise, which debuted on July 30. The film has so far grossed $73.1M domestic, $201M+ worldwide, and $50M in estimated Disney+ Premier global PVOD monies, good for a current estimated global haul of $251M+. ## Meanwhile, Cruella 2 is still in the pre-production stage, and it's not certain yet whether the movie will be an outright theatrical release or like its predecessor released simultaneously in homes. The film, titled "Fighter", is to be India's first-ever aerial action-thriller franchise, for which, Anand joined hands with Viacom18 Studios to produce the movie. ## Initially, the movie was announced with the release date, which was September 30, 2022. However, due to the second covid-19 wave, the movie couldn't go on floors. Chandigarh, August 13, 2021: The first big Punjabi movie in one and a half years, Puaada starring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa takes a good start at the box office upon its release on August 12. The rom-com hasn't got a wider release due to restrictions but it has done well to bring the audience to the theaters. ## The film has been released in around 75 theatres only when normally it would be around 175 in East Punjab. With the help of decent buzz before its release, the movie sold around 2800 tickets to PVR cinemas before its release which is on par with the 2020 Punjabi release, Sufna. Sufna also had sold 2800 tickets in PVR before release. ## Puaada saw good footfalls on day 1 even without three key properties including the highest collecting cinema for Punjabi films PVR Mohali and also no night shows in Delhi or Chandigarh. After seeing the good response on the first day, more and more shows and theaters are expected to come into play in the coming days. ## There were some multiplexes that recorded around 100 audience counts in the morning shows while single screens and non-national multiplex chains were even better as they recorded audience counts of 200 and even full houses. The collection of the movie is expected to remain low due to limited release in the first couple of days but it should pick up the pace over the weekend as more theaters and shows will be added. ## Irrespective of what will be the collection of Puaada, the audience is coming to theaters which is a good sign and a big boost to upcoming Hindi films. Mumbai, August 12, 2021: Bollywood's Mr. perfectionist, Aamir Khan has expressed concern over films releasing directly on digital platforms, ditching theaters. In the last and a half years, many Bollywood films including Laxmii, Sadak 2, Shershaah, Shakuntla Devi, among others have gone to direct OTT release. Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India is also ready for Disney Plus Hotstar release on August 13. ## While some more films are gearing up for OTT release, Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom has sealed the theatrical release worldwide on August 19 and it brought joy among theater owners as it will kick off the unlocking of cinemas. Aamir Khan, however, admitted that theaters can only be open if the health situation in the country improves and that people get vaccinated.## At an event recently, Aamir Khan was quoted as saying, "Some films are releasing on OTT platforms, and as a film person, I am very concerned. I hope in the near future things will improve. It is not easy to talk about reopening cinema halls. Theatres can be opened up only when the health situation improves, and we control the Covid-19 situation as a society, we are all trying and working on it. As more and more people get vaccinated things will get better". ## Meanwhile, as cinemas are reopening gradually, more and more films are executed to announce the release date, and it has begun as Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer mystery thriller, Chehre, will be the second Hindi film after Bell Bottom to hit the big screen. It is scheduled to release on August 27. ## On the other hand, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is one of the films that has been pushed from the last year. Bengaluru, August 12, 2021: The Kannada movie, which has made the nation go crazy, KGF: Chapter 2 has been waiting for its release for a long time now. The fans of Yash are eager to watch this magnum opus on the big screen and their wait is getting longer, all because of the covid-19 pandemic. Despite the delay in release, the movie is creating the right amount of buzz, and it has been building up with each passing day. ## While the covid-19 situation is easing up across the country, the fact that still haunts everyone is the announcement of the KGF Chapter 2 final release date.
