According to the Prime Video, Farhan Akhtar's sports drama film, Toofan topped the list. ## The Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's directorial was watched by more customers on Prime Video India than any other Hindi Film in its opening week. The film was viewed in over 3,900+ towns and cities in India and in 160+ countries and territories across the globe, making it the most-watched Indian film of 2021 on Prime Video. ## Besides this, in the local languages category, films "Narappa" (Telugu), "Sarpatta Parambarai" (Tamil), and "Malik" (Malayalam), were each watched in over 3,200+ towns and cities in India and in over 150+ countries and territories globally.## In the category of web series, Adarsh Gourav's "Hostel Daze (S2)" emerged as one of the most loved shows amongst young adults within just a week of its launch, with viewership from 3,600+ towns and cities in India and from over 100+ countries and territories around the world. The data comes to light as Amazon marked July 26 and July 27 as Prime Days. ## Toofan was released on Amazon Prime on July 16. The movie, however, received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Mumbai, July 30, 2021: Veteran producer Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP Movies has announced a spy-thriller web series - "Panthers", in association with Premnath Rajagopalan of Blue Monkey Films. The multi-season series will be directed by Rensil D'Silva, whose thriller "Dial 100", starring Manoj Bajpayee, Neena Gupta, and Sakshi Tanwar is debuting August 6 on ZEE5.## "Panthers" marks Screwvala's third collaboration with Blue Monkey after a thriller "A Thursday" and hockey biopic, Dhyanchand. The series, "Panthers" explores the India-Pakistan spy games, set amid Indian intelligence agency RAW. Disney Responds To Scarlett Johansson Over Alleged Breach Of Contract

Los Angeles, July 30, 2021: A few hours after Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Co., the company has hit back at the actress, calling the lawsuit "sad and distressing". ## On Thursday (July 29), Scarlett Johansson suid Disney at the Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that her contract was breached when the Walt Disney Co. released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut. The actress's agreement with Disney's Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Studios guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release of her films, in which her salary was mostly based on the film's box-office performance.## Disney countered Johansson's lawsuit in a rather fiery statement, stating, "There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic", Disney said. ## The company went on to state that the actress has already received $20 million for her work and argued that "the release of 'Black Widow' on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date". ## Black Widow was made available on Disney's streaming service for a $30 rental fee at the same time it debuted in theaters on July 9. "Black Widow" set a pandemic-era box office record with $80 million in North America. It earned an additional $78 million overseas and $60 million on Disney Plus. However, the movie witnessed a historical decline of 67% in the second weekend at the box office. ## Earlier, the US theater association also slammed Disney for making the film available at home. Los Angeles, July 29, 2021: Walt Disney Co. lends in hot water over Black Widow's Disney+ release. Scarlett Johansson, star of Marvel Studios' latest release Black Widow film, filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Co. on Thursday (July 29) at the Los Angeles Superior Court, as reported by The Direct. ## Johansson reportadly alleged that her contract was breached when the Walt Disney Co. released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut. ## The actress's agreement with Disney's Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Studios guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release of her films, in which her salary was mostly based on the film's box-office performance. ## According to the suit's allegations, "Disney intentionally induced Marvel's breach of agreement" to prevent Scarlett Johansson "from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel". There is no official comment from the company yet regarding the lawsuit filed against it. ## Black Widow was released on July 9 simultaneously on Disney+ premiere access at the same time it debuted in theaters. Hyderabad, July 29, 2021: The relentless covid-19 pandemic hardly have allowed the entertainment sector to move ahead in the last one and a half years. While the two-third of 2020 had completely vanished, the year 2021 begin on a positive note for the South Indian film industry, however, it too didn't last long because of the second covid-19 wave. The cinemas were ordered to close again, and with that, the many big stars' movies were again forced to postpone across languages. ## The pandemic has not only wiped out the release plans of the films but also has shortened the release window as there are so many films ready for their big-screen debut. While some movies have opted for direct-to-digital release, most of the others are waiting for cinemas to reopen. Since there is not much wide window available for the films to release, box office clashes are bound to happen. ## To begin with, Sankranthi 2022 seems to be the first festival to light up with the release of some of the biggest Telugu films. As things stand now, Makar Sankranti 2022 may witness a mega box office clash of Telugu biggies. Since it is the first festival of the year, makers would want to cash in the opportunity to lure the audiences which could turn out to be a box office bonanza. If reports are to be believed, there are at least 5 films that will be releasing on the Sankranthi 2022 occasion. ## Pawan Kalyan - Rana Daggubati's yet-untitled film, and Mahesh Babu's "Sarkaru Vaari Paata" have already been confirmed to release on Sankranthi 2022 on January 12 and 13 respectively. Apart from these two films, Prabhas' period romantic film "Radhe Shyam" has also set January 14 release. There is buzz that Dil Raju production's "F3" will also be released around that time. ## Apart from outright Telugu films, Thalapathy Vijay's "Beast" is said to be making its debut on Pongal 2022. Interestingly, "Beast" will be Vijay's second back-to-back Pongal release after "Master" in 2021. "Master" was one of the first biggies to release in cinemas after reopening early this year, and it did wonders at the box office, earning over Rs. 150 crores net in India. There are talks that "Beast" will also be releasing in the Telugu dubbed version. ## There is no doubt that if the covid-19 pandemic remains under control, 2022 could prove to be a game-changing year for the film industry. Chennai, July 29, 2021: Tamil superstar Suriya is working on some of the most exciting and intriguing films. One of them is his 39th film, titled "Jai Bhim", directed by Tha Se Gnanavel and produced by the actor's home banner, 2D Entertainment. ## "Jai Bhim" is based on a real-life courtroom incident. In a recent interview, director TJ Gnanavel has said that the film is based on a real legal battle of a famous lawyer Chandru who brought justice to an Irular tribe woman in 1993. Mr. Chandru was a retired Madras High Court judge when he fought the case for a Tribal woman. Suriya plays justice Chandru's role in the film. ## Though Suriya initially thought of only producing the film, he later read a book on Chandru and came forward to play the particular character. Retd. Judge Chandru is a highly respected Judge, who disposed of 96,000 cases. Gnanavel says contrary to reports, Suriya plays the lead and it's not an extended cameo. ## Manikandan and Lijo Mol Jose play the tribal pair in the film. Rajisha Vijayan is the female lead while Prakash Raj plays an upright cop in Jai Bhim. Sean Roldan is composing the music for the film, SR Kathir cranks the camera, and Philomin Raj takes care of the cuts. ## Apart from Jai Bhim, Suriya will also be starring in Etharkkum Thunindhavan (Suriya 40), directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sun Pictures. It's Official: Aditya Roy Kapur To Headline Hindi Remake Of Tamil Blockbuster Thadam

Mumbai, July 29, 2021: Last year, on March 4, Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani announced his next film as the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster Thadam, in association with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the movie couldn't go on floors as scheduled in May.## The film that was supposed to be headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Mrunal Thakur finally went on floors in November last year with major changes. However, earlier this year, Sidharth did object to the new screenplay which resulted in, the actor opted out of the movie that put a brake on the further proceedings.## And now, Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani have roped in Aditya Roy Kapur, as reported earlier, in the remake of Arun Vijay starrer. The Hindi remake of Thadam will be directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar and it will go on floors in September this year. Apart from Adi, Mrunal said to remain a part of the cast as the female lead. This will also be Aditya's first double role ever. ## "I am excited and inspired to be a part of telling such an interesting story. Akshay Kumar's Bell Bottom was announced for July 28 release (today), and now, it will reportadly be releasing on August 19 in 3D. The film is named after RD Burman's cabaret item number that was filmed on Helen in the 1971 movie, Caravan. ## Announcing the film, Netflix unveiled the first look posters of Radhika Apte, Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi among others featuring in the film. The web show will also star Ashutosh Rana, Raghubir Yadav, and Sharib Hashmi in important roles. ## The "Six Suspects" web series marks Ajay Devgn's digital debut as a producer as well as Priti Sinha's. Priti is the daughter of (late) Vinay Sinha who produced the Salman Khan-Aamir Khan-Raveena Tandon-Karisma Kapoor's unforgettable comedy 'Andaz Apna Apna' (1994). Priti is Ajay's rakhi sister.## It has been reported that Ajay and Priti have acquired the rights to two books of Swaroop- 'Six Suspects' and 'The Accidental Apprentice'. Dhulia has completed 50 percent of the show in places like Delhi, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Allahabad and is currently shooting in Mumbai. ## Vikas Swarup's book "Q & A" was adapted into the academy-award-winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire' directed by Danny Boyle.
