Akshay Kumar's 'Prithviraj' Director Chandraprakash Dwivedi Conferred With Padma Shri Award

Mumbai, January 26 - The government of India has announced the recipient of civilian awards for this year. Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who has directed Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhiller's upcoming movie "Prithviraj", has been honored with the Padma Shri award, the fourth-highest civilian award of the country for his service in the field of art.## Dr. Dwivedi is humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award and dedicated it the the Republic of India. "I'm deeply humbled to have been bestowed with the prestigious Padma Shri award. I have been fortunate enough to creatively collaborate with some of the best minds of the Hindi film and television industry", the filmmaker said in a statement. ## Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi is best known for directing the historical tv show "Chanakya" in the 90s. His next directorial is the feature film "Prithviraj", which tells the story of valour of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay portrays the title role while the movie is produced by Yash Raj Film. ## "I have always been someone who has tried to tell a story that is immersed in our country's history and culture and I dedicate this award to my country. This recognition will drive me to tell stories that celebrate my motherland in its full glory like my next 'Prithviraj' in which we will honor the valour of one of the bravest warriors that India has ever seen", he added.## "Prithviraj" was supposed to release on January 21 this year but has been postponed amid the 3rd covid-19 wave. Dr. Dwivedi, however, is hopeful that the audience will love the film whenever it will release. "I have had the pleasure to work with a towering actor like Akshay Kumar to essay Prithviraj on screen and I hope my countrymen love the film that we have made with a lot of passion".## Akshay Kumar also took to Twitter and congratulate the filmmaker on receiving the honor. Suriya's 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' New Release Date Revealed

Chennai, January 26 - Suriya's first big-screen release after two back-to-back direct OTT premieres, "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" has been delayed due to the 3rd covid-19 wave. The action-thriller, written & directed by Pandiraj, was supposed to release on February 4 this year. ## According to Only Kollywood, Sun Pictures has pushed the film by a couple of weeks and the movie will now release on either February 17th or 18th. Even though the 3rd covid wave isn't as serious as the 2nd wave, the state government has imposed a weekend curfew to curb the spread of the virus. It was a wise move to push the release of ET by two weeks as makers are hopeful that the situation will be normal by then. ## "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" is Suriya's 40th film. It marked Suriya's 3rd collaboration with Sun Pictures after Ayan (2009) and Singam (2010) while Pandiraj earlier worked with Suriya, whose production company 2D Entertainment had backed his projects "Pasanga 2", which had the latter playing a supporting character and Karthi's "Kadaikutty Singam".## Suriya's 1st film as a lead hero with Pandiraj, "Etharkkum Thunindhavan" has a huge cast in place including Priyanka Arul Mohan, who plays the female lead alongside Sathyaraj, Vinay, and others. The film's music is composed by D. Imman, whilst cinematography was handled by R. Rathnavelu.## Meanwhile, Suriya also has a film with director Vetrimaaran titled "Vaadivaasal". This Kalaippuli S. Set in Telangana will be directed by debutante Srikanth Odela. ## Meanwhile, the makers of the film are prepping a grand village set to shoot a few crucial scenes. It is reported that this huge village set will cost producers a staggering sum of Rs. 12 crores. Avinash Kolla, the art director who worked for "Shyam Singha Roy" will be overseeing the work for the "Dasara" sets as well.## The makers are trying to bring in the village ambiance which would resemble the Singareni coal mines in the Godavarikhani area of Telangana.## "Dasara" is said to be a period action drama film in which Nani plays a rural guy. Keerthy Suresh is the female lead and it reunites her with Nani for the first time after Nenu Local (2017). "I love 'No Way Home' and the audience I was with went crazy".## "It was delightful to watch Alfred play his role, and Willem Dafoe, just seeing these guys take it to the next level. Mumbai, January 25 - After the Hindi theatrical release of the Telugu movie "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" called off, distributor Manish Shah, who holds the Hindi dubbed rights of AVPL, accused Kartik Aaryan of his unprofessional behavior towards the release. Kartik is leading the Hindi remake of AVPL in the form of "Shehzada", and Shah said that he threatened the makers to quit the film if the dubbed film was released in theatres. ## However, a day after Shah's accusations, the makers of "Shehzada" have defended the actor and called him one of the most professional actors. Producer Bhushan Kumar said the Kartik has nothing to do with the AVPL release and said he along with other producers requested Manish Shah to not release the movie as it might affect the Hindi remake which is already in production. ## "We felt that 'Shehzada' should release in theatre first and not the Hindi version of 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', hence we requested Goldmines not to release the Hindi version. I have known Kartik since the beginning of his career. We have done multiple films together. He is one of the most professional actors I have worked with", Bhushan Kumar said as reported by TOI. ## Rohit Dhawan, who is directing "Shehzada", added in the defense of "Dhamaka" actor, "Kartik's intent and excitement for 'Shehzada' is unquestionable. It's been a joy working with him. As director and actor, we share a solid bond and nothing can come in the way of our love for the film".## Producer Aman Gill also has nice things to say about Kartik as he called him one of the most dedicated actors in the industry. "Shehzada", which is co-produced by Allu Arvind, who also co-produced the original Telugu version, is currently under production. Kriti Sanon plays the female lead alongside Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar. Mumbai, January 25 - Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's recently released Pan-India movie, "Pushpa - The Rise" is creating quite a sensation among the youth. While the box office performance of this action-drama film has been phenomenal, the songs of the film have also become quite popular. ## One of the most popular songs of "Pushpa - The Rise" is Srivalli. The Hindi version of the song is sung by Javed Ali from the lyrics penned by Raqueeb Alam. Devi Sri Prasad has composed it along with other languages. Meanwhile, the "Srivalli" Hindi version has breached the first major YouTube milestone by clocking 100 million views. ## T-Series released the official full video of the "Srivalli" song on January 4 and it crossed 100 million views on January 25. Interestingly, the original Telugu version of the song is just 25 million views and it was released on the same day as the Hindi version on Aditya Music's YouTube channel. The Lyrical "Srivalli" song in the Telugu version is the most viewed among all five languages with 133 million views on YouTube. ## ## Directed by Sukumar, "Pushpa - The Rise" was released on December 17 last year and became an instant success at the box office. The Hindi dubbed version of the film has been unstoppable since its release as it crossed Rs. 94 crores. Los Angeles, January 25 - The upcoming HBO Max feature film "Batgirl", based on DC Comics has officially cast Ivory Aquino as Alysia Yeoh. Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action DC Comics feature film will feature an openly trans character.## Ivory Aquino as Alysia Yeoh will play the best friend of the titular superhero, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon played by Leslie Grace in this original HBO Max film. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of "Batgirl" written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.## According to Variety, news of Aquino's casting first leaked online in mid-January after Grace posted a photo seemingly from the set of the film to her Instagram story, tagging Aquino and captioning the shot (of two women crossing the street) with "Barbara and Alysia".## There have been several strides in broadening LGBTQ+ representation in superhero adaptations over the past few years. The latest such example was seen in Marvel Studios' feature film "Eternals", which included the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first same-sex couple, played by Brian Tyree Henry and Haaz Sleiman.## Meanwhile, the "Batgirl" is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie recently went on floors under the production banner of Srinivasa Silver Screen. ## Ram Pothineni is playing the role of a cop in this film, which is touted to be a different kind of movie in this genre. Meanwhile, "The Warrior" is already getting the attention for its Hindi dubbed version as RAPO's previous movies, such as "iSmart Shankar", "Shivam", were quite popular on satellite in Hindi. ## According to reports, the makers of "The Warrior" have sold the Hindi dubbing rights (Satellite & Digital) to RKD Studios for a handsome price of Rs. 16 crores, which is the highest for RAPO's movie. In the last couple of years, South Indian movies are gaining a lot of attention among Hindi audiences, so it is no surprise that #RAPO19 is sold for a whopping sum. ## "The Warrior" marks RAPO's debut in Tamil cinema. Mumbai, January 25 - Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is once again in the spotlight for the negative things as he has again been accused of unprofessional behavior. As we all know, Kartik Aaryan is doing the Hindi remake of Allu Arjun's Telugu blockbuster "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" in the form of "Shehzada". ## Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms, who holds the Hindi dubbing rights of AVPL, was supposed to release the film in theaters on January 26, which has now been called off. ## It was reported that "Shehzada" makers had urged Shah to not release the film as it might harm the Hindi remake when it will be released in theaters. While it is true the "Shehzada" makers did urge for the same, Manish Shah has accused Kartik Aaryan of his unprofessional behavior towards the release of AVPL. ## Shah, in a chat with IndiaToday.in, said that Kartik Aaryan threatened "Shehzada" makers to quit the film if AVPL releases in Hindi. "The makers of Shehzda were not keen to release the Hindi version in cinemas. Also, Kartik Aaryan said if the movie was released in theatres, he would walk out of the film, which would have caused Shehzada producers a loss of Rs 40 crores. It was extremely unprofessional of him", told Manish Shah. ## This is not the first time Kartik has been in the controversy. He was also accused of unprofessional behavior towards Dharma Productions' "Dostana 2", which resulted in his omission from the movie. Dharma, in a statement, however, refused to divulge details and said that it would maintain a 'dignified silence' on the matter. It is said that Kartik had already shot some of his portions for the film and his exit cost the makers rs. 20 crores lose. ## Manish Shah, meanwhile, said that calling off the theatrical release of AVPL has cost him rs. 20 crores lose and prevent more losses, he will now release the film on his channel on February 6. He said that he stopped the theatrical release of AVPL only for Allu Arvind, who is co-producing "Shehzada" with Bhushan Kumar and Aman Gill. Allu Arvind had also co-produced the original Telugu movie. ## "Shehzada", which is being directed by Rohit Dhawan, is slated to release in theaters on November 4, 2022. Mumbai, January 25 - Marvel/Sony Pictures did everything to keep the Spider-Man fans guessing about the elements in "Spider-Man: No Way Home", released a month ago. Even though the secret was revealed with the release of the film in December 2021, the social media users, however, have finally their first official look at the secret, Marvel/Sony was hiding until yesterday. ## For the first time since the film's release in December, fans are seeing a photo from the movie prominently featuring its best and most spoilery part. The image comes courtesy of an interview VFX supervisor Chris Waegner did with the website Befores and Afters, in which he broke down several key special effects sequences in the movie.## One of the first images shows Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man uniting with Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire's web slingers. In the image, the Spider-Man in the front and center with his Stark Industries-built suit is Tom Holland while the leftmost figure is Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and the right one is Andrew Garfield's.## After years of speculation about a multiverse reunion, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" brought together all three actors who had played live-action versions of the Marvel hero in the Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies. Kannada Film Industry Takes Fresh Breath After Karnataka Government Lifts Weekend Curfew

Bangalore, January 24 - The Kannada film industry is heaving a sigh of relief after the Karnataka government decides to lift the weekend curfew, imposed two weeks ago. This news comes at a time when the film industry is looking for revival after a major setback caused by the second covid-19 wave. ## Earlier, just when the Kannada film industry was set for the blockbuster opening of the year, the 3rd covid wave forced the government to announce fresh restrictions in the state. However, with the 3rd wave not resulting in a surge in hospitalization and the recovery rate also being high, the government withdrew its decision of weekend curfew. ## Most of the theatres across the state, which had been closed for two weeks because of the weekend curfew, are all set to reopen and welcome audiences. Though the state government is permitting only 50 percent occupancy at present, multiple reports have suggested that 100 percent occupancy will be allowed by the next weekend. ## Meanwhile, the filmmakers have started rescheduling the release dates of their movies, which were supposed to release two weeks ago. Among the first Kannada films to release in the state after the reopening of cinemas is "DNA", which is slated to hit theaters this week, followed by "Obhattane Dikku", starring Yogesh on January 28.## However, the fans are waiting for the release of Rakshith Shetty's "777 Charlie", Darling Krishna, and Milana's "Love Mocktail 2", Kichcha Sudeepa's Pan-India film "Vikrant Rona", among other Kannada movies. "777 Charlie" was supposed to release last year. The makers will now announce the new release date in the next few days.## Kichcha Sudeepa's big-budget 3D adventure film "Vikrant Rona" is slated for February 24 release, and it looks like the movie will go ahead with its planned release. Interestingly, makers had received a whopping Rs. 100 crores offer from the leading OTT giant for its direct OTT release but rejected it stating that it is made for the big screen experience. ## Meanwhile, the team helming the much-anticipated "Bairagee", starring Shivarajkumar and Dhananjay, has announced the completion of the shooting. The team is all set to launch the teaser soon. Shivarajkumar's last film "Bhajarangi 2" was released on October 29 last year. It opened well at the box before got a major jolt due to the death of Shiva Rajkumar's brother Puneeth.## Last year, the Kannada films were able to catch the attention of movie lovers before and after the second covid-19 wave. Darhsna's "Roberrt", Dhruva Sarja, and Rashmika Mandanna's "Pogaru", late Puneeth Rajkumar's "Yuvarathnaa", Kichcha Sudeepa's "Kotigobba 3", and Duniya Vijay's "Salaga" did very well at the box office.
