Mumbai, May 12 - It looks like director Aditya Dhar is hellbent on making his dream project The Immortal Ashwatthama a reality. Despite the continued setbacks, the filmmaker is leaving no stone unturned to make this big-budget epic happen, and in this process, the project seems to have gotten another life. ## Recently, it was reported that "The Immortal Ashwatthama" was put on hold by Jio Studios indefinitely over budget issues, but now, as per the latest reports, the studio and Dhar are in early talks with superstar Allu Arjun to revive this. ## According to Pinkvilla, "The filmmaker and top officials at Jio Studios are in talks with Allu Arjun to play the lead. The conversations are in the initial stages at the moment, and Allu has shown some interest in the unique and ambitious world of the film".## The report further states that a couple of meetings between Allu Arjun and the makers have already taken place over the last few months. The movie is ambitious and the involvement of AA will definitely take to the next year if things materialize which remains to see.## Allu Arjun, meanwhile, has his hands full of blockbuster titles. Akshay Kumar-Fronted Jaswant Singh's Biopic To Be Titled 'The Great Indian Rescue'

Mumbai, May 12 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar hasn't had much success in the last couple of years, and now, the hopes are pinned on his upcoming films which promise to show his versatility as an actor. ## Before the covid-19 pandemic, Akshay delivered back-to-back hits by portraying real-life characters, and one of his upcoming films falls in a similar genre. It is known to everyone that the Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood is doing the biopic of the late Jaswant Singh Gill, a former additional chief mining engineer.## Gill is renowned for his remarkable rescue operation in 1989, where he saved the lives of 65 workers trapped in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal. It has been reported that the movie was titled "Capsule Gill", however, the makers never confirmed the same and have been keeping mum about it.## Now, according to Bollywood Hungama, the movie has been titled The Great Indian Rescue. "The makers feel that it does justice to the plot of the film. Also, they believe that title mein dum hai. It is based on an incredible real rescue mission and what better title than The Great Indian Rescue", the report says.## Akshay plays the titular role of Jaswant Singh in the film which also stars Parineeti Chopra as the female lead. Mumbai, May 12 - Superstar Salman Khan's family action drama Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has completed 3 weeks with an underwhelming box office collection. ## Though the movie still has performed way better than most of the Bollywood films post the covid-19 pandemic those numbers don't justify the stardom of Salman. At the end of the 3rd week, KKBKKJ grossed around 183 crores worldwide, including 130+ crores domestically and over 52 crores overseas.## The film, directed by Farhad Samji, at once looked like a sure shot 200+ crores worldwide grosser but after the Eid opening weekend, it tanked badly and couldn't rise after that. The movie is likely to gross another 1 crore more to around 184 crores finish which is below average number for a Salman Khan film.## Irrespective of where the film finishes at the box office from hereon, KKBKKJ is already the 3rd highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year, after "Pathaan" and "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar". The Kerala Story First Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, May 11 - The blockbuster controversial film The Kerala Story completes its first full week at the box office with flying colors, scoring close to 80 crores net collection. ## After the excellent first six days, TKS remains in the same line and scored an estimated 11-12 crores net, pushing the total net collection to around 80 crores. It may also finish above 80 crores which remains to see. ## The Kerala Story will cross the 100 crore net mark by its second Saturday and will become the fourth Bollywood movie of the year to reach this milestone. For a movie that was made on a low budget, this is an excellent box office return and it is not going to stop anytime soon.## There are a few films releasing this weekend in the form of "IB 71" and "Chatrapathi", among others, but TKS is expected to remain the first choice. During an event hosted by his brother-in-law Dr. AV Guruva Reddy, Rajamouli revealed that even though Baahubali - The Beggining got a positive reception all over, he left highly disappointed with reviews from the Telugu people.## "On the day of the release of Baahubali: The Beginning, it was the first pan-Indian film, so we released it in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, the whole of North India, America, and UAE. We had a positive talk all across the globe. But our main bread and butter are from Telugu-speaking states, (and there) it had a very bad reception. People were saying it is one of the biggest disasters of the film industry".## He further revealed that since the movie was a huge budgeted one, he feared worst if it had become a disaster as that would have put the producer in a huge financial crisis. Thankfully, the paying audience didn't entertain the negativity and made Baahubali the biggest blockbuster of that time before "Baahubali 2" shattered all the records everywhere. ## The first part of the epic historical drama grossed approx. 650 crores worldwide against the budget of approx. 180 crores, before "Baahubali 2" scored over 1700 crores and is currently the second highest-grossing Indian film of all time.## Stay tuned...

After winning appreciation in "Goodbye" and "Mission Majnu", Rashmika now seems to be in a hurry to sign multiple Bollywood films. ## The actress is already in director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Animal" opposite Ranbir Kapoor and also reportedly signed Dinesh Vijan's historical drama "Chhava" with Vicky Kaushal playing the lead. And now, according to the latest reports, the 27-year-old grabs director Anees Bazmee's next. ## It has been reported that Anees Bazmee would be teaming up with Shahid Kapoor for an action comedy film and the latest reports say that Rashmika has joined the cast as the female lead. The yet-untitled movie will be produced by Dil Raju and Ekta Kapoor with whom Rashmika previously worked on "Goodbye" and "Varisu". ## The movie will reportedly feature Shahid Kapoor in a double role for the first time in his career. It is an action comedy entertainer with a quirky storyline. The rest of the cast is being finalized and will be announced soon. ## The shoot of the film is expected to begin in August this year after Shahid completes Rosshan Andrrews' investigative thriller, which is the remake of the Malayalam movie "Mumbai Police" for Roy Kapur Films. The actor, meanwhile, will next be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar's "Bloody Daddy" which premieres on Jio Cinema on June 9, and also has Dinesh Vijan's robotic romance comedy, scheduled to release later this year.## Rashmika Mandanna, on the other hand, will be seen in "Animal", scheduled for August 11 release, along with a slice-of-life Telugu film "Rainbow" and an untitled film with Nithiin. The Kerala Story First Wednesday Early Estimates

Mumbai, May 10 - The Kerala Story continues to go up at the box office as the movie sees another good jump in collection on its first Wednesday. ## On its first Wednesday, the movie scores a growth of around 10% over Tuesday's collection for an estimated 12 crores net. This is the second back-to-back jump in the collection of the film despite the working days and takes the total net collection to around 69 crores in 6 days. ## The full opening week collection of The Kerala Story is now expected to be around 80+ crores net and then, it will breach the 100 crores net mark, mostly on its second Saturday.## The film showing a jump during weekdays despite the fact that it is facing difficulties in getting a proper release in a few states shows that TKS has become a rage, just like Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" last year. As said earlier, the lifetime collection of the movie is hard to predict but it is certain to finish over 200 crores net.## TKS will be released internationally on May 12 and it is expected to witness a good response as domestic. Chennai, May 10 - Blockbuster filmmaker Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 has crossed the 300 crores mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first Tamil and the second Indian movie of the year to reach the milestone. ## The second of two cinematic parts based on the 1954 novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy reached the triple-century mark on its 11th day, 5 days more than the first part last year. "PS-2" has underperformed compared to the first part but it still has done well enough to be called a successful venture.## The total worldwide collection of "PS-2" is around 304 crores worldwide in 12 days, including 187 crores domestically and around 117 crores overseas. The first had grossed around 490 crores in its lifetime run, including 315 crores domestically and 175 crores overseas.## "PS-2" has done well at the Tamil Nadu box office with around 114 crores gross, becoming the third film of the year after "Varisu" and "Thunivu" to breach the 100 crores mark in the state. Tovino Thomas Confirms Superhero Movie 'Minnal Murali 2' Will Release Only In Theaters

Mumbai, May 10 - Malayalam star actor Tovino Thomas is on cloud nine after the massive success of his latest film 2018 which is based on the true events of the Kerala floods in 2018. The movie has grossed over 40 crores worldwide so far and now, the makers are gearing up to release it in other languages. ## Before "2018", Tovino Thomas made his way into the hearts of the nationwide audience with the fun critically acclaimed superhero movie Minnal Murali (2021). The audiences, however, were left disappointed that it didn't release in theaters after Netflix acquired rights for direct streaming. ## Since the movie turned into a huge success on OTT, Tovino confirmed in a recent interview that a sequel was in early development. Now, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama for "2018" promotion in Mumbai, the actor confirmed Minnal Murali 2 is being written, and this time, it will release only in theaters.## "We will release Minnal Murali 2 only in theaters. After it releases in the theaters, I want Netflix to acquire its OTT rights", said the actor.## The actor further said the movie was made keeping theaters in mind but due to the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions on theaters, it was not possible for the makers to release it on the big screens. He also lauded the efforts Netflix put into promoting the film on a wide scale which made Minnal Murali a nationwide sensation. ## "Having said that, when the second part (Minnal Murali 2) releases, I want it to be released in theaters only", he added.## The movie was directed by Basil Joseph from the script written by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. It stars Tovino as Jaison, a young tailor who gains superpowers after being struck by lightning and transforms into a superhero.
