Box Office: Adipurush Sees An Epic Fall After Opening Weekend Wonder

Mumbai, June 22 - Director Om Raut's magnum opus Adipurush was one of the most-awaited films of the year and it proved with an excellent opening at the domestic box office.

The effect of Ramayana, plus the star power of Prabhas worked wonders for the film in the opening weekend despite the negative word of mouth as the movie scored 261 crores gross in India. However, what happened next was unexpected as "Adipurush" slipped to a historic low after the opening weekend wonder.



Despite the word of mouth being against the film, it was still expected to score at a decent level during the weekdays but it faced a near-complete rejection from the audiences. From Monday to Thursday, "Adipurush" grossed just around 46 crores domestically in all languages, for approx. 307 crores opening week domestic collection.

While the opening week numbers of "Adipurush" are big, the drastic fall during the weekdays has more or less sealed the fate of the film as it will be extremely tough to regain the momentum. The controversy around the movie is also not helping it either as there seems another big drop in its second Friday collections.

The overseas collection of the film is around 51 crores in the first week, which takes its total worldwide gross collection to around 358 crores.
