Mumbai, May 10 - Malayalam cinema continues to amaze nationwide audiences by bringing out-of-the-box films, and the latest in the list is 2018 which is based on the true events of the 2018 Kerala floods. ## The movie, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, is doing historic business in Kerala as well as at the worldwide box office and becomes the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all-time. Amid the exceptional response to the original Malayalam version all over the country, the movie is now gearing up for the Hindi release. ## According to the latest reports, the Hindi version along with Telugu, and Tamil of "2018" will be hitting theaters on May 26. It will be released by E4 Entertainment in Hindi. ## While speaking about the film, Tovino Thomas previously made an emotional appeal to the distributors and Hindi audience to support Malayalam movies in order to get a bigger release. "We are a small state in the southernmost corner of India. Our pioneers have been making very good movies. Our films, however, release in a very less number of theatres".## "I wish more distributors came to release Malayalam films. We don't want them to distribute it for free or out of love for our cinema. Let them watch the film. If they like it and if they give it a proper release, it'll be great. The trailer is getting blockbuster responses all-over and has turned the tide in favor of the film. ## Thanks to the huge response, the 3 minutes 19-second-long promo has become the most-viewed trailer on YouTube in the Hindi language in the first 24 hours. 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' Scores Big On Netflix In The Opening Weekend

Mumbai, May 10 - Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-fronted romantic comedy film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar continues to attract audiences, this time on the digital platform. ## After the big box office success, Luv Ranjan's directorial movie debuted on Netflix on May 3rd and was the second most-viewed non-English film worldwide during the week of May 1 - May 7. ## The movie scored 11.35 million viewing hours in its 5-day opening weekend, which is one of the biggest post-theatrical digital debuts for an Indian film. Previously, Alia Bhatt's "Gangubai Kathiawadi" debuted with higher viewership at 13.81 million viewing hours after its theatrical release last year on Netflix. ## SS Rajamouli's global sensation "RRR" had scored 7.18 million viewing hours in its opening weekend on Netflix in May 2022. Talking about TJMM, it is probably the second most viewed Indian title in the opening weekend on the streamer after the theatrical release. ## TJMM is trending in the top 10 in 24 countries, including number 1 in India, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius. Amid huge expectations, the trailer of the film was launched on Tuesday and it exceeded expectations of all. ## The story of Adipurush is set in the time when Ram was in exile with Sita and Laxman and it mainly focuses on the Ram-Sita-Ravan conflict. Prabhas plays the role of Lord Rama and his look is different from the conventional one purely because he has been presented as a warrior which is Raut's strong point. ## The scene between Prabhas and Kriti Sanon who plays the role of Sita is beautiful and mesmerizing though their scenes are less in the trailer. Sunny Singh as Laxman is ok and so is Devdatta Nage as Hanuman. The makers have also kept fewer scenes of Raavan played by Saif Ali Khan but those in the trailer are brilliant.## The CGI is much better and looks believable than the teaser which was launched last year. The background music by Ajay-Atul is the major highlight and is perfectly in sync with the trailer. Despite the negligible animated touch, the Adipurush trailer hits the right notes and is surely going to increase the excitement among the fans. ## The movie is a big attempt by Om Raut to bring the timeless tale of Ramayana to life and it will unanimous audience turnaround to justify this big move. After taking a fantastic start, "2018" jumped big on Saturday and Sunday to clock an excellent weekend, grossing 10.55 crores domestically. ## During the weekdays, the "2018" movie remains solid with a collection coming in the range of 4 crores each day. The total domestic collection in the first full week is 29.35 crores gross which is a fantastic result for a Malayalam title.## Domestic aside, the "2018" movie had a sensational opening weekend overseas as well approx. 15.05 crores gross, before very good working days to take the first-week overseas collection to around 28 crores. Strouse, the romantic comedy-drama film flopped after taking just a $2.38 million start in its 3-day domestic (North America) opening weekend from 2,703 theaters. The movie doesn't seem to be having a long life at the box office after poor critics and audience scores. ## The remake of the 2016 German film "SMS für Dich", "Love Again" earned a poor "B" CinemaScore and holds 19% on Rotten Tomatoes from 21 critics though the audience score on RT is on the higher side at 93% from 100+ users.## "Love Again" was projected to score $5 million - $10 million in its opening weekend but it failed to top even the lower point of projections. Luckily for Sony Pictures, the movie only cost $9 million to produce. It also stars Sam Heughan and Nick Jonas, among others in key roles. ## The movie is about a lady, Mira Ray (Priyanka), who is struggling to cope with the death of her fiancé. She unintentionally sends a sequence of romantic messages to his old cell phone number, which has been reassigned to Rob Burns' new work phone. As a journalist, Rob is drawn to the candidness in Mira's beautifully written texts. The movie had an excellent first weekend with 35.25 crores net coming in. ## Despite facing bans and backlash, The Kerala Story scored is showing a jump of around 30% on Monday from Friday for an estimated 10-11+ crores net, which is phenomenal, to say the least. The drop from Sunday is around 30% which shows the power of solid word of mouth. ## Directed by Sudipto Sen, TKS is going The Kashmir Films' way which created a sensation last year. TKF, however, had a lower opening but was unstoppable after the opening day, and the same is seem to be happening with TKS. The total collection of the film stands at 46 crores net after today's collection. ## TKS is performing very well everywhere, especially in the Maharashtra region. Even in Kerala state, which is the core plot of the film's story, TKS is performing well on the limited shows available. The movie, however, is not able to get more shows due to the boycott it is facing in the state. ## The lifetime collection of the film is hard to predict as this sort of film doesn't follow a pattern but it is certain to cross 100 crores and even 200 crores net collection is looking well within the reach. Los Angeles, May 20 - Lionsgate Films' action thriller franchise John Wick has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office through the 4 films released so far in the series. ## John Wick is one of the most profitable action film franchises of all time. The combined budget of the 4 films in the series is around $230 million while the total gross collection now stands at $1.01 billion, including $425 million for the 4th installment. ## The first film in the series, "John Wick" was released in 2014 and grossed $87.08 million at the global box office against a budget of around $20 million. The domestic and overseas grosses of the film were almost similar at $43 million and $44.08 million, respectively. ## The sequel to "John Wick" debuted in 2017 and cost around $40 million to bring to the big screen. The movie topped the grosses of the first film by more than double margin and scored $171.50 million worldwide, including $92 million domestically and $79.50 million overseas. ## The trade of topping the collection of its predecessor continued with "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" (2019) which breached the $200 million as well as $300 million mark for the franchise globally. Against the budget of $70 million, the movie scored $326.70 million, including $171 million domestically and $155.70 million overseas. ## The 4th and latest in the franchise, "John Wick - Chapter 4" was released in March this year and still playing in a handful of cinemas with a worldwide total currently standing at $425.30 million. Domestically, it is the highest-grossing film in the series with $184 million while it is also the biggest overseas as well with $241.30 million.
