Mumbai, February 2 - Director Meghna Gulzar's war biographical grama Sam Bahadur starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role has emerged as an all-time biggest opener for ZEE5 in Hindi-language, according to Deadline. ## Sam Bahadur, based on the life of India's first field marshal Sam Manekshaw, was premiered on ZEE5 on January 26 after 8 weeks of theatrical run. In the first three days of its digital release, the film has risen to the top position among all Hindi titles released on the ZEE5. ## While viewership numbers are not revealed, ZEE5 said that the movie has been watched in over 190 countries on the platform, with the U.S., Australia, the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Canada as the top performers outside of India. ## Produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP, Sam Bahadur was also a theatrical success with a worldwide gross collection of over 130 crores. Mumbai, February 1 - Indian films have started well at the box office in 2024 as three of them are among the top 10 highest-grossing titles worldwide this year so far.## Director Prasanth Varma's superhero film Hanuman emerged as a huge blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of around 265 crores in 20 days. In India, the movie has minted approximately 210 crores while the overseas collection is around 55 crores so far. ## Hanuman is the 5th highest-grossing film globally in 2024 in January, followed by Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. The Siddharth Anand's directorial aerial action thriller was one of the most-awaited films, however, it has underperformed given its size and scale. ## In its first week (7 days), Fighter grossed approximately 241 crores worldwide, including 169 crores domestically and an estimated 72 crores at the overseas box office. It is the 7th highest-grossing film worldwide of 2024 so far. ## Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram is another Indian film in the global top 10 in January 2024. The movie, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, has grossed around 177 crores in 20 days, including 146 crores in India and approximately 31 crores overseas. The movie did well in urban centres, however, it failed to repeat the same in mass areas despite positive reviews and word of mouth. ## Also starring Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, Fighter scored approximately 140.75 crores net collection in the first week (7 days). The movie was a Thursday release and it scored 118.50 crores net during the Republic Day weekend which was good. ## Fighter had a big drop of over 70% on Monday which raised doubts over the film's longevity at the box office, however, after that heavy drop, the movie is showing a better trend as it didn't drop drastically after that. North America is the best-performing overseas market for the film with an estimated $4.3 million (36 crores). ## Fighter beats the Hollywood romantic comedy "Anyone but You" which scored $19 million (158 crores) this weekend at the worldwide box office, including $4.8 million (40 crores) in the USA alone. Despite the juggernaut of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Sam Bahadur managed to get the love of its target audience. ## Produced by RSVP Movies, Sam Bahadur opened to a decent collection of 6.25 crores net and with positive word of mouth, the film managed to clock around 25.50 crores net in the first weekend and approximately 39 crores net in the full week. Mumbai, January 25 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's action drama Animal, which marked the duo's maiden collaboration, has started playing on Netflix, but not before setting new box office benchmarks for Indian cinema.## Animal was released on December 1, 2023, and instantly caught the moviegoers' attention despite the criticism from a section of society for the subject of the movie. The movie was censored with adult adult-only certificate and despite age restrictions, it opened to historic numbers at the box office by taking the opening of 76 crores gross (63.80 crores net) in India. ## The opening of the film was just a trailer for what was coming next as it went on the score over 200 crores net (240+ crores gross) in the 3-day opening weekend and 337+ crores net (402 crores gross) in the first full week. Mumbai, January 24 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's aerial action thriller Fighter, which reunites the duo with director Siddharth Anand, is all set to hit the big screens tomorrow, January 25, amid a lot of expectations. ## Touted as one of its kind aerial actioner in Indian cinema, "Fighter" was censored with a 'U/A' certificate with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes. The movie is expected to have a wide release on over 4200 screens nationwide, as per the industry buzz. ## "Fighter" was expected to be a frontloaded opener at the box office and keeping that in mind, the makers opened the bookings on January 20. The movie did receive a very good response in advances in the first 24 hours but the pace got slow as the release date got nearer. ## With a few hours to go for the first show to begin, the pre-sales are nearing 7 crores gross with over 214K tickets sold. In the first two days, the movie scored 4.7 million viewing hours from 1.6 million views. ## It was the third most-watched non-English film worldwide on Netflix during the week of January 15 - January 21. While the numbers are decent, Netflix would have hoped for more considering the film's box-office performance. Jeetu Joseph's directorial movie grossed over 85 crores at the worldwide box office while total business including OTT and satellite is over 100 crores. ## After Neru, Mohanlal could score another big commercial success in under two months with his upcoming period action drama Malaikottai Vaaliban, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The movie is seen as a potential blockbuster by the Malayalam trade and as far as the opening is concerned, the movie is set for a big start. ## The bookings for Malaikottai Vaaliban are pretty good at around 2.60 crores gross (including block seats) for the opening day, which is one of the biggest for a Malayalam title.
