Box Office: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Tops $200 Million Worldwide; Decent In India
Mumbai, May 20 - Disney's science fiction action film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has topped $200 million at the worldwide box office. Directed by Wes Ball, the film showed a solid hold in the domestic and overseas markets in the second weekend which pushed the collection past $200 million.
At the domestic box office, the stand-alone sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) crossed $100 million and currently stands at $101.2 million (845 crores) after the second weekend. Overseas, the movie showed a much better hold and added another $40.6 million to its tally for $136.3 million (1135 crores), pushing the worldwide total to $237.5 million (1980 crores).
Made on a budget of $160 million, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is projected to finish its box office run at around $400 million worldwide, which would be less than War for the Planet of the Apes ($490 million) which was made on a budget of $150 million.
Meanwhile, at the Indian box office, Kingdom has been decent with approximately 27.75 crores gross collection in 10 days. It is already the 4th highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 in India and is expected to finish over Dune: Part 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4 as the second biggest grosser.
