Mumbai, January 22 - Director Prashanth Varma's superhero movie Hanuman has emerged as a big Sankranthi 2024 winner at the domestic and worldwide box office. The film not only surpassed bigger titles but is also on course to become the biggest Sankranthi winner ever in Telugu cinema. ## Hanuman was released on January 12 with superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama "Guntur Kaaram" which is a much bigger movie in terms of star power and scale. Hanuman overcame the initial obstacles to become the big blockbuster and eventually topped Guntur Kaaram at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## Starring Teja Sajja in the lead role, Hanuman scored approximately 198 crores worldwide in the first 10 days, and with today's collection, it has crossed the 200 crore gross mark and becomes the first Indian movie of the year and first ever for director Varma and actor Teja to do so.## The movie, apart from its original Telugu version, has emerged as a success story in the dubbed Hindi version. It has scored around 34 crores net (40+ crores gross) in Hindi in the first 10 days and is on course to finish over 50 crores net mark which is a massive win for the film. ## Hanuman is trending above all other movies at the moment, and it is expected to cross the 250 crores mark by the next week. Hyderabad, January 19 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram is leading among the Sankranthi 2024 releases after the first week. The Trivikram Srinivas' directorial has done well during the festive season, despite the mixed word of mouth. ## Released on January 12, the Haarika & Hassine Creations' produced venture has managed to score approximately 157 crores at the worldwide box office in the first 7 days. In India, the movie has minted around 127 crores gross while the overseas collection is approximately 30 crores. ## Guntur Kaaram needs to hold decently in the coming days to emerge as a successful venture which is now looking very much possible. After the second day, on which the collection dropped by around 70%, the break-even target was looking difficult but the festive season helped the movie to find stability and now, it is in a much better position at the box office. ## Director Prashant Varma's superhero movie Hanuman is giving tough competition to Guntur Kaaram and it will soon overtake the latter at the worldwide box office. The movie has been a revolution since its debut on January 12, and despite getting far fewer screens, the movie is not far behind Babu's film at the worldwide box office.## In the first 7 days, Hanuman grossed approximately 142.50 crores at the worldwide box office, including approximately 104 crores at the domestic box office. Netflix Announces Post-Theatrical Streaming Slate of Upcoming Tamil Films

Mumbai, January 17 - Netflix has been on an announcement spree regarding the post-theatrical streaming slate of South Indian films. The streamer recently announced several Telugu films which will stream on its platform after their theatrical run and now, it has announced Tamil titles. ## One of the biggest Tamil films to stream on Netflix after its theatrical release is superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced but it is expected to release either Diwali this year or Sankranthi 2025. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. ## Netflix also has Lyca's Indian 2, starring legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Indian", it is easily one of the Tamil films of the year, scheduled to release during summer. It will be available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, post its theatrical release. ## Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama Thangalaan, directed by directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, is also grabbed by Netflix. The movie is announced for theatrical release in April 2024. Sony Pictures International Production's debut in Tamil cinema, tentatively titled SK21, also produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is also part of the Netflix lineup. ## Among the other films, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja directed by Nithilan Saminathan along with Keerthy Suresh-led Passion Film Factory and The Route's Revolver Rita directed by K. Chandru, Dream Warrior Pictures’ Kannivedi, SNS Productions' Sorgavaasal, and AGS Entertainment's Conjuring Kannappan is also part of Netflix's line-up. ## The unreleased films will debut on Netflix after their theatrical releases. Hyderabad, January 15 - Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of some of the biggest Telugu Pan-Indian films in 2024 and beyond. The streamer has been putting efforts to make a mark in the Indian digital space and its upcoming South Indian slate is the first major push. ## The biggest film Netflix has acquired is the upcoming Pan India movie Pushpa - The Rule. Starring superstar Allu Arjun, the action drama film is scheduled to release theatrically on August 15, 2024, in multiple languages and it is likely to be available on Netflix after an 8-week theatrical window in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil. ## Superstar Jr. NTR's action drama Devara - Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva, is another big Telugu Pan India film acquired by Netflix after its theatrical release, which is on April 5. The movie, just like Pushpa 2, is expected to be ready to stream after 8 weeks of the theatrical window in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil. ## Director Prashanth Neel and superstar Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, which was released during Christmas 2023 weekend, will also be streaming on Netflix soon. The movie has emerged as a big box office success with a worldwide gross collection of over 600 crores. Netflix will stream it in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil language. ## The line-up also includes Vijay Deverakonda's untitled action drama film VD 12, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The theatrical release date of the movie is not locked yet. It was one of the films released this Sankranthi festival with lower stakes but has now started coming on top. ## Starring Teja Sajja in the lead role, Hanuman has completed its first weekend, grossing over 72 crores at the worldwide box office. In India, the movie has minted 47+ crores gross (including 5 crores previews) while the overseas collection is approximately 25 crores. ## The Hindi dubbed version of the film is a big surprise at the box office. In the first weekend, the Hindi version scored approximately 12 crores net (14+ crores gross), which is higher than the opening weekend totals of Pan Indian blockbusters like "Pushpa - The Rise" and "KGF: Chapter 1". ## The first Monday collection of the film is set to be higher than the opening day, both in Hindi and Telugu. The Jeethu Joseph's directorial venture has not only proved a roaring comeback for Mohanlal but also turned into a big profitable film for makers. ## Neru, which was released during Christmas weekend on December 21, 2023, has been a big blockbuster at the worldwide box office. It has so far grossed approximately 87 crores worldwide, including approximately 52.50 crores at the domestic box office. Los Angeles, January 12 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise will reportedly be returning as Captain Pete "Maverick" in the third instalment of his action drama Top Gun franchise.## There have been speculations about whether Tom Cruise will make the next film in his blockbuster franchise, but now, according to a report by Puck News (via comicbook.com), Top Gun 3 is in development at Paramount Pictures with Cruise returning alongside Top Gun: Maverick co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.## The report further reveals that Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger is currently working on the script, with producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison involved. Maverick director Joseph Kosinski is also expected to return as either director or producer for the same.## While an official announcement hasn't been made yet, the report says "Top Gun 3" could be Tom Cruise's next film after the forthcoming "Mission Impossible 8". It is indeed a major development as Cruise recently signed a deal with Warner Bros. to develop and produce original and franchise theatrical titles which he'll star in. Though it wasn't an exclusive deal it will still keep him busy.## The second instalment of the Top Gun franchise, "Top Gun: Maverick was released in May 2022, and it proved to be one of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and easily the biggest ever for Tom Cruise with a worldwide gross collection of $1.49 billion (12300 crores). Among the Sankranthi 2024 Telugu releases, it has the third-highest worldwide theatrical business with 25 crores. ## In two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the film scored 19 crores in business, including 7 crores in Nizam.
