Mumbai, August 11 - Marvel Studios returns to the billion-dollar club after the superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine crossed this coveted box office mark on its third Sunday at the worldwide box office, becoming only the second movie of 2024 to achieve the feat.## The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-fronted blockbuster has grossed $1.03 billion (8645 crores) at the worldwide box office through the third weekend. In North America, the movie has minted $494.3 million (4150 crores) while the overseas collection is $535.2 million (4495 crores) over 52 markets.## Notably, Deadpool & Wolverine is only the second movie of 2024 after Inside Out 2 to top $1 billion globally. IO2 is currently the biggest grosser with $1.59 billion as the 10th highest-grossing movie of all time, behind The Lion King ($1.65 billion).## Deadpool 3 has broken into the top 50 movies ever and is currently the 48th highest-grossing title. In another amazing feat, it will soon top Joker ($1.07 billion) to become the highest-grossing R-rated title of all time. Mumbai, August 11 - Very few critically acclaimed films get a second life to succeed at the box office after failing on the first occasion. Avinash Tiwary and the new Bollywood sensation Triptii Dimri's romantic drama Laila Manju can be one of those few films. ## Released in 2018, Sajid Ali's directorial largely went unnoticed in its original run with a domestic collection of approximately 3.25 crores gross despite getting critical acclaim. It was re-released a couple of days back amid the growing popularity of the re-release of classic films, and to everyone's surprise, the movie is doing well.## After playing with a couple of shows for over a week since August 2, Laila Majnu grossed approximately 25 lakh on the first day of its proper re-release (August 9, Friday). As the word of mouth grew, the movie witnessed a 200% jump on Saturday to gross approximately 75 lakh collection.## Laila Majnu has topped a 1 crore gross collection in the first 2 days of its re-release which is an excellent figure. Sunday is expected to be the biggest so far for the movie as it is eyeing 2 crores gross collection in the opening weekend. ## Considering the trend, Laila Majnu would have easily topped the final gross collection of the film's original run but the time might be running out for it as it won't get much showcasing once the arrival of the hugely-awaited Stree 2 along with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa on August 15. ## The movie, however, can take inspiration from Ranbir Kapoor's recently re-released Rockstar which grossed over 10 crores in India. Hyderabad, August 11 - Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's 2001 romantic drama thriller film Murari was re-released on August 9 and scored one of the biggest openings for a Telugu re-release title. ## Directed by Krishna Vamsi, Murari grossed approximately 4.75 crores in India and 5.25 crores worldwide on its first day of re-release, and continuing this momentum, the movie remained rock solid on its second day as well. ## On its second day (Saturday), the movie minted approximately 1.75 crores gross collection at the domestic box office. This takes the movie's total domestic collection to approximately 6.50 crores, and including 60 lakh overseas gross, the movie has scored 7.10 crores worldwide in the 2 days of its re-release.## Among the recent Telugu re-release films, Murari is already the second-biggest-grosser, as per the Telugu box office portal T2BLive. Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2' Advance Booking Off To Very Good Start

Mumbai, August 10 - As expected, the pre-sales of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 have taken a very good start in India and have already crossed the final opening day booking of some of the recent movies featuring bankable stars.## Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, is easily the biggest Bollywood movie of the month which Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa are also releasing. Ever since the movie was announced, anticipation has been on the rise which is evident in the advance booking.## As of 5 PM on August 10, Stree 2 has sold approximately 50K tickets worth 1.75 crore (without block seats) for the opening day (not including previews). Written, directed, and headlined by Dhanush, Raayan has been one of the biggest Tamil hits of the year and it has now reached a new milestone.## The A-rated action blockbuster has become the first Tamil movie of 2024 to reach the 100 crores gross collection mark at the Indian box office. The movie grossed approximately 98.50 crores in 15 days and at the time of penning this piece, it has crossed the milestone of 100 crores gross in India within 16 days.## Raayan is already the biggest Tamil grosser of the year domestically by beating Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 which flopped at approximately 96 crores gross collection. James Cameron's 'Avatar 3' Gets An Official Title and Release Date

Mumbai, August 10 - Maverick filmmaker James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar 3 has unveiled its official title on Friday during the D23 expo. The first two movies in the franchise have already been etched in the history books with monstrous box office performances.## During the D23 event, James Cameron along with stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington revealed that the third Avatar blockbuster will be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, setting the stage for the things unfold in Pandora. ## "You'll see a lot more pandora that you never saw before. It's an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it's also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We're going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love", Cameron said (via Variety).## It is to be noted that James Cameron shot most of the portions of Avatar: Fire and Ash with Avatar: The Way of Water (Avatar 2), which depicts the war between humanity and the Na'vi after the rapacious Resources Development Administration (RDA) returns to the alien moon of Pandora.## Fire and Ash will follow the immediate events of Avatar 2, and at the D23 event, Cameron showcased some concept art from the movie, which reportedly was enough to excite the audience present there. The upcoming movie is believed to be more violent than the first two movies, and there will be new characters. ## The first Avatar movie was released in 2009 and remains the highest-grossing movie of all time with $2.92 billion. Its sequel, The Way of Water, took 13 years to come to life but there was no drop in the excitement as it is the third highest-grosser ever with $2.23 billion. It is the sequel to 2018's blockbuster, Stree, directed by Amar Kaushik.## Stree 2 has been certified with a 'U/A' certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes (149 minutes). Among the Bollywood films releasing on August 15, it is the second longest after Vedaa (150 minutes).## Produced by Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios, Stree 2 is the 5th movie in Maddock Supernatural Universe after Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. It is set after the events of Stree, as the town of Chanderi is being haunted again. Both movies were not only unable to attract footfall but were awful from the opening day which led to a disastrous first week. ## The Ajay Devgn-fronted romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was expected to score a decent collection even though the buzz was not there for that to happen. The opening below 2 crores net mark sealed its fate as it scored disappointing around 10 crores net opening week. ## It is one of the lowest opening weeks for an Ajay Devgn-starrer in the last 2 decades and easily the lowest by far in the last decade. It has been no starter from the beginning and it will finish below the 15 crore mark as one of the major disastrous of the last few years.## Janhvi Kapoor-fronted thriller Ulajh which was released on the same day as AMKDT also met the same fate with a disappointing first week of around 7 crores net collection and the lifetime will likely be the same as AMKDT.## Ulajh, after the poor opening, did show a better trend than the Ajay Devgn-starrer but there wasn't much audience for it to capitalize on that as the overall collection remained low throughout the first week. ## The attention now shifts to the Independence Day weekend which will see the much-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2 taking on Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abrahm's Vedaa. Scheduled to be released on August 15, Double iSmart also features Sanjay Dutt in his Telugu debut and Kavya Thapar in prominent roles.## Double iSmart is an important movie for both Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh and they seem to have gone all out for this mass entertainer just like the first part. It is revealed that the sequel has been censored with an A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to strong violence and dialogues. ## The sequel will be lengthier than the first part with approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 42 minutes (162 minutes). iSmart Shankar clocked 2 hours and 21 minutes which made it a neatly packed entertainer. Mumbai, August 7 - The sequel to Ajay Devgn-fronted crime thriller Raid has officially been postponed from November 15 of this year due to a tight release schedule. The movie is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta who confirmed the development.## Raid 2 was well on track until recently when Ajay Devgn-fronted highly-anticipated cop action drama Singham Again was pushed to Diwali 2024, two weeks before Raid 2's original release. It then became almost impossible to release two films of the actor with a tiny gap of just 2 weeks.## Director Rajkumar Gupta confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that the blockbuster will now be released early next year but the exact date is not yet revealed. The filmmaker said that producers will announce the official release date soon.## Raid 2 stars Ajay Devgn who reprises his role as an IRS officer, Amay Patnaik. In the first movie, Saurabh Shukla played the role of the antagonist but in the sequel, Riteish Deshmukh has replaced him to take on Ajay Devgn. Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' Sequel Is In The Works: Report

Mumbai, August 7 - Earlier this year, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn headlined horror-thriller Shaitaan which is the remake of the Gujarati movie Vash. The movie emerged as a big box-office success which led to speculations about its sequel and now, there is a big update on the same.## According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the script work for Shaitaan 2 has already begun and the makers will announce the movie once the script is locked. There is no update on when the film will go on floors and if the rest of the original cast will return.## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan was released in March of this year and went on to gross over 200 crores at the worldwide box office. It is currently the second-highest-grossing Bollywood movie and third biggest in Hindi of 2024. ## While the official confirmation is awaited, Shaitaan marks the 8th film franchise to be headlined by Ajay Devgn, which is the most by any Indian actor.
