Pathaan, a new Bollywood film, is a stylish, slick, and action-packed blockbuster that delivers thrills, suspense, and a gripping storyline. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan will be delighted to see him back in action, delivering a powerful performance that makes the long wait worth it. John Abraham also shines in his negative role, while Deepika Padukone looks stunning and delivers some impressive action scenes. The fight sequences and chases are marvelously picturized and very captivating, with full marks given to the VFX and CGI. It's a spy thriller that expands YRF's spy universe and offers much more than what we have seen in the trailer, meeting Hollywood standards for action.
The story is exciting and riveting, as a private terrorist group, Outfit X, led by Jim, plans to attack the president of India at a scientific conference in Dubai. Pathaan, a courageous RAW agent, stands tall against Jim's plans and tries to stop him. From there, the chase of cat and mouse begins, taking them to different countries with various chase sequences involving bikes, trains, planes, helicopters, ice skating, trucks, cars, and more. The film is a wholesome entertainer, offering action, patriotism, soft wit, and a remarkable cameo from Salman Khan, alongside the star power of Shah Rukh Khan.
However, there are some things that went wrong with the film, including a poor characterization of the protagonist, Pathaan. While he had the patriotism and all the qualities of a veteran spy, the forced goofy part did not click with the audience. The VFX was also not up to par in some action sequences, which was surprising given YRF's standard for such scenes. The unnecessary love angle between SRK and Deepika was not needed, and the dialogues were over the top and not in the right environment. While the script was not bad, it could have been better, with some instances where the audience could anticipate what would happen next.
Despite these shortcomings, Pathaan is a complete showbiz package that delivers on its promise of action, thrills, and a gripping storyline. It's a family film that will ignite the flame of patriotism in the audience's hearts, making it a must-watch for those who enjoy spy thrillers and action movies. Siddharth Anand's direction is power-packed, ensuring that there are no dull moments even for a while, and the film feeds throughout with action-packed sequences one after another.
