Superstar Shah Rukh Khan To Be Honoured With Locarno Film Festival Career Award

Mumbai, July 2 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan adds another feather to his golden hat as he will be honoured with the prestigious Honorary Leopard Achievement Award by the Locarno Film Festival for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. ## The official X handle of the Locarno Film Festival shared the news, and wrote "To welcome a living legend like #ShahRukhKhan in Locarno is a dream come true. The actor and film producer – a true Indian superstar, a symbol of the vitality of Hindi-language cinema – will receive our career achievement award, the Pardo alla Carriera, at #Locarno77". ## The actor will receive the honour on August 10 at the Swiss fest's 8,000-seat Piazza Grande open-air venue. Sanjay Dutt And Mrunal Thakur To Join Ajay Devgn In 'Son of Sardaar 2'

Mumbai, July 2 - 12 years after the superhit action comedy, Son of Sardaar, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn and team reunite for its sequel with Devgn returning to play the lead role. The movie will reportedly be directed by Punjabi filmmaker Vijay Kumar Arora. ## When the sequel was confirmed, there were rumours that Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha, who played prominent roles in the original movie, would not be returning. Now, according to the latest reports, the makers have brought on board SOS2 with Mrunal Thakur to replace Sonakshi. ## According to the Mid-Day, it is not yet clear whether Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt will reprise their roles as Jassi and Balwinder Singh Sandhu aka Billu as the story of SOS2 is said to be fresh and doesn't pick up where the original ended.## "That said, since the characters of Billu and Jassi were loved by the audiences, the two actors are expected to stick to their characters' names. Their dynamics, however, will be different. While the two were at loggerheads with hilarious results in Son of Sardaar, this time, their rivalry will be intense, with Sanjay's role leaning towards the antagonist", says the report. ## The report further said that the trio of Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Mrunal Thakur who will play the female lead, will commence a 50-day schedule in Scotland this month. Box Office: 'Kalki 2898 AD' First Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 1 - After the fantastic opening weekend, Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD put up an excellent hold on its first Monday in the dubbed Hindi version with a drop of just around 20% from the opening day, Thursday. ## The Nag Ashwin's directorial blockbuster shows the power of super positive word of mouth as it scores an estimated 16.50-17.50 crores net collection. This takes the total Hindi collection of the film to around 128 crores in just 5 days as the first full week is heading for 160+ crores net. ## Despite coming after an extended weekend, the superb hold on Monday, be it single screens or multiplexes indicates a long run for the movie and with the current trend, it will reach 200 crores net in the second weekend itself. Thanks to its sensational run so far, it will beat all but Baahubali 2, RRR, and KGF 2 by the end of the first week to emerge as the 4th highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi. ## Apart from Hindi, Kalki 2898 AD also scored a decent hold in the other versions as all versions are estimated to be 40+ crores gross on the first Monday. The horror-comedy entered the 100 crores gross club on its 17th day. ## Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya has approximately 98.35 crores gross (83.30 crores net) in India and an estimated 4.25 crores overseas for 102.60 crores worldwide gross through the third Sunday. Box Office: Munjya Tops Bhediya To Become Second Highest-Grosser In Maddock Films' Horror-Comedy Universe

Mumbai, June 21 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's horror-comedy Munjya has become the second highest-grossing film in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, behind only Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree. ## The fourth film in the horror-comedy universe, Munjya has scored approximately 68 crores net collection in 2 weeks (14 days) and it will be crossing Bhediya (69 crores net) today to become the second biggest grosser in the series. Stree is currently on top with approximately 130 crores net. ## Munjya has had an excellent hold in the second week, dropping just 7.50% from the first week for approximately 32.65 crores net, despite the release of Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion which is a much bigger movie in terms of scale, budget and star power and also with positive reviews and word of mouth. ## The Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh-starrer are expected to remain strong in its third week in the absence of notable releases. Bombay High Court Allows Release of Annu Kapoor's 'Hamare Baarah'

Mumbai, June 19 - The Bombay High Court has allowed the release of Annu Kapoor's Hamare Baarah after the makers agreed to delete some objectionable scenes. The movie, which was supposed to be released on June 7, will now hit screens on June 21. ## According to Bar and Bench, a bench of Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla watched the film and suggested changes which both the moviemakers and the petitioners agreed to. ## The court, after a thorough review, also said that the movie did not contain any objectionable content against the Quran or the Muslim community, instead, the court found the movie to be aimed at the "upliftment of women", according to NDTV report. ## "The movie is in fact for the upliftment of women. The movie has a Maulana misinterpreting the Quran and in fact, one Muslim man objects to the same in the scene. So this shows that people should apply their mind and not blindly follow such Maulanas", the high court said. ## Meanwhile, the court imposed a fine of Rs. 5 lakh on the makers of the movie for releasing the trailer before getting CBFC certification. The fine is to be donated to a charity of the petitioners' choice. "Violation was there vis-a-vis the trailer. So you will have to pay something towards a charity of the petitioner's choice. The cost will have to be paid. This litigation has got the film so much unpaid publicity", the court added.## Hamare Baarah is directed by Kamal Chandra and it also stars Rahul Bagga, Manoj Joshi, and Ashwini Kalsekar, among others. Mumbai, June 19 - Director Rajesh A Krishnan's Crew has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix, surpassing the total reported viewership of Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies in just 24 days. ## The heist comedy, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, Crew added 1.2 million views from June 10 - June 16, taking its total views to 17.9 million in 24 days. Laapataa Ladies had scored 17.1 million views during its stay in the top 10 on Netflix and is now the second most-watched Indian title of the year. ## Crew premiered on Netflix on May 24 after completing 8 weeks of the theatrical run with over 150 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office.
