Sanjay Dutt Officially Joins Akshay Kumar's 'Housefull 5'

Mumbai, July 13 - Actor Sanjay Dutt has officially confirmed on board comedy entertainer Housefull 5. He will star alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan in the prominent role in the film, to be directed by Dostana fame Tarun Mansukhani. ## Sanjay Dutt is the newest member to join the Housefull franchise and it marks the reunion of Akshay, Riteish, and Abhishek after Housefull 3 (2016), directed by Sajid-Farhad. The 5th instalment of the blockbuster franchise by producer Sajid Nadiadwala's Nadiadwala Grandon Entertainment is one of the costliest Indian films with a budget of over 300 crores.## Housefull 5 will start shooting in August and entirely be filmed on a cruise ship in the UK. The major part of the movie will be shot in the 45 days of the first schedule and the entire cast will join the schedule. Box Office: 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2' Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 12 - Akshay Kumar's drama film Sarfira takes a low start at the box office with poor occupancy throughout the day. The movie was expected to see some boost due to the positive reviews which don't seem happening as it opens in the range of Selfiee. ## Sarfira, directed by Sudha Kongara, has had pre-sales between Akshay Kumar's previous two low starters, Selfiee and Mission Raniganj which indicated a low start which turns out to be true as it scored an estimated 2.25-2.50 crores net opening day. ## The movie was always going to open in a similar range due to its remake status which has struggled in the post-COVID era, and its subject which doesn't have mass appeal. The initial word of mouth, however, seems to be positive which can come into play over the weekend but it will be hard for it to make up for the very low opening. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) also has a poor start which was expected due to negligible pre-sales. As per the early estimates, the movie is expected to open in the range of 1.25 crores net collection which might vary on either side when the actuals come. ## Indian 2, however, has a much better showing in all versions on its opening day as it is expected to score an estimated 25-26 crores net (30-31 crores gross) collection. The movie has opened on the expected lines with a slightly lower of the optimistic projections. ## In Tamil Nadu, it is expected to gross in the range of 13+ crores, followed by 9-10 crores in Telugu states which is a good collection. The rest of India gross of the movie is estimated to be around 8 crores, including around 4 crores in Karnataka. The Aditya Sarpotdar's directorial achieved the feat in its 5th week of the box office run.## Part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe, Munjya minted approximately 3 crores net collection in its 5th week, which took its total collection over 100 crores net. It is the 121st film to enter the 100 crores net club in the Hindi language.## Munjya is the fourth movie of the year to hit the 100 crores net mark in Hindi, which also includes Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which is currently the biggest Hindi grosser of the year at the domestic box office with over 232 crores net collection. ## Starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma in the leading roles, Munjya is the maiden 100-crore net movie for the duo as well as for director Aditya Sarpotdar. Box Office: Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, July 11 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira, a remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, is finally hitting the big screens on July 12 after multiple delays and postponements. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the original movie starring Suriya. ## Sarfira has been the most anticipated new movie for the last couple of weeks, as per the IMDb's real-time popularity but the pre-sales response is telling a completely different story. The advance booking of Sarfira opened a couple of days ago but it has been progressing at a snail's pace and is not going anywhere. ## As of 4 PM on July 11, the pre-sales gross collection of Sarfira is only approximately 32 lakh with 15.6K sold for the opening day. With not much time left for the first show to start, the advance sales of the movie are heading for around 50+ lakh for the opening day which is very low. ## In comparison to the previous movies of Akshay, the pre-sales of Sarfira are trending a little above Selfiee which finished opening day sales at just around 40 lahks, and below Mission Raniganj (76 lakh gross), which are among the lowest for the actor in many years. Sarfira's pre-sales will probably finish somewhere between Selfiee and Mission Raniganj.## Selfiee opened at around 2.50 crores net while Mission Ranigang took the start of 2.80 crores net and a similar sort of opening is expected for Sarfira with a possibility of 3+ crores start depending on word of mouth. However, unlike Selfiee, Sarfira has to face challenges, first with holdover Kalki 2898 AD which is running strongly and second with Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 which is also releasing on July 12. ## Sarfira is not a mass entertainer, plus the original version of the film has widely been watched by the Hindi audience so the areas where a movie can grow are limited. Mumbai, July 4 - Kalki 2898 AD ends the extended first week on a high with another double-digit collection in the Hindi version with a drop of just around 10% from yesterday which is a very good hold to go into the second week. ## On its second Thursday (8th day), Kalki 2898 AD scored an estimated 10+ crores net collection which can go up to 11 crores depending on the single screens. Mumbai, July 4 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Tamil director Sudha Kongara teamed up for the first time for the drama film Sarfira which is the remake of Kongara's Soorarai Pottru with Suriya in the lead role. ## Sarfira, produced by Abundantia Entertainment, 2D Entertainment, and Cape Of Good Films, completed censorship formalities today (July 4) and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the movie a clean 'U' certificate with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes (155 minutes). ## Sarfira follows a man who sets out to make affordable airlines for low-income people, which several enemies try to impede. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role along with Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal who also featured in the original movie while Suriya has played a special appearance in the movie.## The movie was originally scheduled to be released in September 2023 before the makers postponed it to February 2024, from which it was again moved and now, it is finally hitting the big screens on July 12. Salman Khan To Play A Cameo Role In Varun Dhawan's 'Baby John', Produced by Atlee

Mumbai, July 3 - Over the last few weeks, reports about the potential collaboration between Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and director Atlee have been all over media headlines. Touted to be a 2-hero project with Kamal Haasan as the parallel lead, will mark the first movie together for the trio if materializes. ## While the aforementioned collaboration is making fans go crazy, another one between the duo of Salman Khan and Atlee is shaping up and is reportedly confirmed. June 2024 Indian Box Office Report

Mumbai, July 2 - June was the second biggest month of the year at the Indian box office with close to 1000 crores gross collection after January which is the only month to cross this milestone so far. ## In June 2024, films across languages grossed approximately 985 crores at the domestic box office, as Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD being the biggest grosser with approximately 370 crores gross, followed by Bollywood movie, Munjya with approximately 111 crores gross. ## In terms of language, Hindi once again topped the month and also saw the biggest of the year so far by topping March month's collection of 386 crores with approximately 390 crores gross which includes Kalki (130+ crores) and Munjay (111 crores) as the two biggest grossers. The Telugu version is also back in the top 2 with approximately 275 crores gross, thanks to Kalki with 200 crores gross. ## Meanwhile, the Malayalam language collection slipped to 4th spot after being the second biggest for four consecutive months. The Tamil industry also witnessed a rebound and has had the biggest month of the year with approximately 137 crores gross, thanks to Maharaja (60 crores) and Garudan (45 crores). ## The total domestic collection after the first 6 months is approximately 4700 crores gross. The second half of the year, however, is expected to see a big jump in the collection with multiple much-awaited movies lined up for release, including Pushpa 2, Singham Again, Indian 2, Devara, Game Changer, Kanguva, Stree 2, GOAT, along with Hollywood movies like Deadpool 3, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Joker 2, among many local and international films. ## Stay tuned...

Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment's 'Kill' To Be Remade In Hollywood By 'John Wick' Director

Mumbai, July 2 - Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment's A-rated action thriller Kill, which is scheduled to be released theatrically on July 5, is set to be remade in Hollywood by the John Wick director Chad Stahelski who will produce the movie for Lionsgate. ## Kill has been rated 'A' by CBFC for extreme violence and it is billed as the Indian version of the John Wick franchise.
