Box Office: 'Bad Newz' Third Day/First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 21 - Dharma Productions' comedy drama Bad Newz has a good first weekend at the domestic box office with close to 30 crores net mark after a jump of 5%-10% on Sunday.## According to the early estimates, the film scored in the range of 10.75-11.25 crores net collection on its third day/first Sunday, pushing the total collection to around 29.50 crores in 3 days. It is the fifth biggest opening weekend for a Bollywood title of 2024.## The jump on Sunday is pretty flat or limited which is often the case with multiplex movies, plus there is a strong holdover in Kalki 2898 AD which is ruling mass centres as well as multiplex. Bad Newz needs to hold well on its first Monday which is crucial for the sake of its long legs at the box office.## Overall, the opening weekend total of around 30 crores net is respected but the real game for the movie begins on Monday which will determine where it will go. Mumbai, July 21 - The hugely-anticipated comedy entertainer Son of Sardaar 2, starring Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, has commenced filming on July 20 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dharma Productions' Clarifies On The Rumours of 'Kill' Remake

Mumbai, July 16 - Producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has issued an official statement on the recent speculations about the remake rights of its action thriller Kill which is currently playing in theatres and doing decent business.## Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill was announced to be remade in Hollywood by John Wick director Chad Stahelski even before the film's official release in India on July 5. The action thriller, which will mark SRK's daughter Suahana Khan's big-screen debut, has been in the news since last year despite no official announcement from the makers yet. Now, as the movie is gearing up to commence shooting in the next few weeks, the makers are speeding up to lock the rest of the cast. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Abhishek Bachchan has been locked in to play the antagonist role to take on Shah Rukh Khan in this big-scale action entertainer. As reported previously, SRK will be playing the role of Don while Suhana Khan will be in the parallel lead, essaying the role of a young girl who finds herself in perilous circumstances after a life-altering incident. It will be the first major negative role for Abhishek Bachchan, who was said to be surprised by the character when it was offered to him but accepted it immediately, intrigued by the depth of the role. It is said to be a special role, and Siddharth Anand, who produces the film with SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment, has grand plans to present Abhishek in a manner audiences have never seen before. Box Office: 'Sarfira' and 'Indian 2' First Sunday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 14 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira has a low first weekend at the domestic box office with a collection of around 12 crores net which is one of the lowest for the actor in many many years. ## Sarfira opened to poor numbers which proved to be fatal for the movie despite the good jump in the collection. On its first Sunday/third day, the movie scored an estimated 5-5.25 crores net, jumping around 20% from yesterday, for around 12 crores opening weekend. ## These are good collections for a non-star film but for someone like Akshay Kumar along with a top star cast, 12 crores weekend is disappointing. There is an appreciation for the movie but it hasn't been able to covert this into footfalls in large numbers. ## To have some sort of legs at the box office, Sarfira will have to beat the opening-day collection and try to come close to second-day figures of around 4 crores on its make-or-break first Monday. It, however, won't be easy due to competition and a proper working day. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) remained in the similar range as yesterday as estimates suggest the first Sunday collection around 1.30 crores net for approximately 3.80 crores opening weekend in Hindi which is very poor. ## The movie witnessed a drop of around 15% in the collection for all languages on its third Sunday for an estimated 17.50+ crores gross (15+ crores net). All India opening weekend of Indian 2 is around 69+ crores gross (59 crores net) which is underwhelming as there were huge expectations from the film. Mumbai, July 13 - After the low start, Akshay Kumar's Sarfira witnessed a jump of around 70% on its second day, however, the overall collection remains low due to the poor start which was one of the lowest for the actor in many many years.## According to the early estimates, Sarfira has earned in the range of 4-4.25 crores net on its first Saturday/second day, pushing the total to around 6.50+ crores net in 2 days which is poor collection. The weekend total is headed to finish around 12 crores net.## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) hasn't seen any growth today as estimates suggest the second-day collection of the dubbed version to be around 1.25 crores net, pushing the total to approx. 2.50 crores net in two days as opening weekend heading for around 4 crores net.## There was some drop in the collection of the Telugu version of the film as the first Saturday estimates for all versions of Indian 2 suggest the collection to be around 20 crores gross (17 crores net) for around 50 crores total domestic gross in two days.
