Suriya Plays A Retired Madras High Court Judge In 'Jai Bhim' Based On A Real 1993 Legal Battle!

Chennai, July 29, 2021: Tamil superstar Suriya is working on some of the most exciting and intriguing films. One of them is his 39th film, titled "Jai Bhim", directed by Tha Se Gnanavel and produced by the actor's home banner, 2D Entertainment.
"Jai Bhim" is based on a real-life courtroom incident. In a recent interview, director TJ Gnanavel has said that the film is based on a real legal battle of a famous lawyer Chandru who brought justice to an Irular tribe woman in 1993. Mr. Chandru was a retired Madras High Court judge when he fought the case for a Tribal woman. Suriya plays justice Chandru's role in the film.
Though Suriya initially thought of only producing the film, he later read a book on Chandru and came forward to play the particular character. Retd. Judge Chandru is a highly respected Judge, who disposed of 96,000 cases. Gnanavel says contrary to reports, Suriya plays the lead and it's not an extended cameo.
Manikandan and Lijo Mol Jose play the tribal pair in the film. Rajisha Vijayan is the female lead while Prakash Raj plays an upright cop in Jai Bhim. Sean Roldan is composing the music for the film, SR Kathir cranks the camera, and Philomin Raj takes care of the cuts.
Apart from Jai Bhim, Suriya will also be starring in Etharkkum Thunindhavan (Suriya 40), directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sun Pictures. The production house treated his fans with first, second, and third looks posters on his 46th birthday recently. The Soorarai Pottru actor also has National Award-Winning director, Vetrimaaran's "Vaadivaasal".
