Hyderabad, August 13, 2021: Actress Samantha Akkineni, who recently made her Hindi debut with Amazon Prime Video's web series, "The Family Man 2", has posted an emotional note as she has wrapped up the shoot of Telugu mythological drama 'Shaakuntalam'.

"And it's a wrap on Shaakuntalam !! This film will stay with me for the rest of my life. As a little girl I believed in fairy tales .. not much has changed. I still do.... and @Gunasekhar1 sir my fairy godfather for making my dream a reality", Sam wrote on Twitter.

"When he narrated this film to me I was immediately transported to a most beautiful world .. the world of Shaakuntalam.. a world like no other. But I was nervous and scared. Was it possible for us to create such beauty on celluloid.??" she added.

Expressing gratitude towards director Gunasekhar, Sam concluded the post by saying, "Today as I say my goodbyes, I have such an immense feeling of love and gratitude, to this absolutely incredible human @gunasekhar1 sir, for he has created a world that has exceeded all my expectations. The inner child in me is dancing with joy. Thankyou sir".

Directed by Gunasekhar and produced by Neelima Guna of Gunaa Teamworks, Shaakuntalam is based on Kalidasa's epic Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam, set in the Himalayas. The film tells the love story of king Dushyantha and Shakuntala, daughter of sage Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka. The plot is reportedly based upon a love affair, a secret marriage, separation of imprecation, and the reunion of the immortal love of Dushyanta and Shakuntala.

The film features Samantha Akkineni in the titular role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta along with Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu, and Gautami in supporting roles. The movie also marks the movie debut of actor Allu Arjun's four-year-old daughter Allu Arha. It marks the entry of the Allu clan's fourth generation into the Telugu film industry.
