Mumbai, September 23: Bollywood filmmakers may be facing criticism for going after remakes of regional movies, but their love affair with remakes seems unending. With over 30 South film remakes already in the various stages of production, Bollywood filmmakers are continuously adding more and more films to this list and proving the critics right that they lack originality and are widely dependent on remakes. ## Speaking about the latest soon-to-be remade in Hindi, Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan's Tamil blockbuster "96" was recently confirmed to be remade in Hindi by "Attack" producer Ajay Kapoor and now, there are reports that Nani's one of the most loved Telugu movie "Gang Leader" is also ready for Bollywood makeover. ## According to Peepingmoon, producer Akshai Puri of 12th Street Entertainment has bought the rights to this 2019 Telugu comedy thriller directed by Vikram Kumar. He said to have got the remake rights just last week and will soon set up a team of writers to adapt the screenplay to suit it with Hindi audiences. ## Even before the reports of the Hindi remake of "Gang Leader" came out, this Nani starrer was in news recently after a rumored plot line of Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee's film emerged on social media. Speculations started doing rounds regarding the similarity between two films after a web portal claimed that "Atlee film will be a massive revenge action-entertainer that will have Shah Rukh Khan assembling a team of women, who wanted to seek revenge for their past, to rob something untouchable". ## While it's true that SRK-Atlee's much-anticipated Pan-India offering is a robbery drama, it has nothing to do with Nani's Gang Leader as the film's remake rights are with Akshai Puri. "Gang Leader" revolves around five women who seek the help of a budding crime novelist (played by Nani) to avenge the death of their loved ones. Rowling's Harry Potter spinoff "Fantastic Beasts" has been titled "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" and also set a release date of April 15, 2022.## The previous "Fantastic Beasts" film "The Crimes of Grindelwald" performed brilliantly at the box office and the expectations will be higher from the next film in this fantasy film series directed by David Yates. The new "Fantastic Beasts" film will revolve around Albus Dumbledore, a famous Harry Potter figure that many original Potter fans will always line up to see more of.## Things will be a little bit different in Fantastic Beasts 3 on the casting front as Johnny Depp who was a part of the franchise's second film is no longer a part of the third film. Mads Mikkelsen will step in for Johnny Depp in this entry. While "Golmaal 5" might take a little more time to take off, Rohit Shetty will most probably be directing the third installment of his cop-film "Singham" as early as next year. ## Rohit Shetty is currently working on Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Pooja Hegde's starrer comedy film "Cirkus", which is the filmmaker's first outright comedy film outside the Golmaal franchise. While "Cirkus" is scheduled to release on 31st December this year, Shetty has reportedly locked the script of Bollywood's biggest cop franchise, "Singham 3". ## The second film of the Singham franchise "Singham Returns" was released in 2014 and it's already been almost seven years since then. According to reports, the story of "Singham 3" will take off from where "Sooryavanshi" ends. Ajay Devgn will once again don police uniform and will reprise his role as the daring cop and take on the main villain from the Akshay Kumar starrer. It is said that Akshay and Ranveer will play cameos in "Singham 3". ## "The climax of Sooryavanshi will lead to Singham 3 with Ajay Devgn taking over the charge from Veer Sooryavanshi. The entire film is about Akshay's character racing against time to stop terror attacks in Mumbai, and they successfully stop the same in the climax of the film by capturing the negative leads, only to discover that it's not game over yet and the actual mastermind of the attack is still hiding safely at his whereabouts", a source said to a leading media publication.## Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn has his hands full of films at the moment. Zee Entertainment Announces Merger With Sony India

Mumbai, September 22: In a major development, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has announced a merger with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) on Wednesday. According to the merger, Sony will hold a majority of the stake of 52.93% and will invest $1.575 billion while ZEE shareholders will hold the remaining 47.07% stake. ## The merger was approved by the ZEEL's Board of Directors in a meeting held on September 22, according to a statement by ZEE. The company also said that Puneet Goenka (CEO of Zee) will remain the Managing Director and CEO of the merged entity for five years. ## The statement said that both the companies have entered into a non-binding agreement and combine their linear networks, digital assets, production operations, and program libraries. The merged entity will still be a listed company in India and Sony Group will have the right to nominate majority directors on the board of the merged entity.## This combined entity will own 75 TV channels, two video streaming services ZEE5 & SonyLIV along with two film studios, Zee Studios & Sony Pictures India as well as a digital content studio Studio NXT. This makes it the largest entertainment network in India. ## The merger announcement comes a week after Zee Entertainment witnessed shareholder activism that saw an open call for the ouster of promoters and the incumbent management led by Punit Goenka. For the third weekend in a row, "Shang Chi" remained number 1 at the domestic box office. ## The Marvel movie surpassed "Fast & Furious 9" ($173M) and becomes the second-highest grosser at the domestic box office during the pandemic era with $176.9 million including $21.7M on the third weekend. It just took "Shang-Chi" 17-days to reach the second spot.## "Shang-Chi" is well and truly on track to become the first Hollywood movie to gross a legendary $200 million at the North American box office. Ans in between, it will surpass its fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow" to become the highest-grosser Hollywood pic. The Scarlett Johansson fronted earned $183.4M in North America. ## Globally, "Shang-Chi" has crossed a brilliant $300 million mark and currently stands at $320 million.
