Makers Changes Format After Priyanka Chopra's TV Reality Show 'The Activist' Sparked Controversy

Mumbai, September 16, 2021: The American TV reality show "The Activist" lead by judges Priyanka Chopra Jonas, multiple-Grammy winning singer-songwriter Usher, and 'Dancing with the Stars' star Julianne Hough, came under fire for its concept, which led the makers of the show to change its concept. ## "The Activist", which was supposed to be a five-week series, has now shifted to a one-time documentary special format, according to Variety. ICYDK, the reality show (now documentary) will consist of six activists from around the world, who will work "to bring meaningful change to one of three urgent universal causes: health, education, and the environment". ## However, the format of the show sparked huge controversy as many called it the "worst idea ever" and a business-minded show. And after facing criticism, CBS and producing partners Global Citizen and Live Nation issued a statement announcing the change in the show's format.## "The Activist was designed to show a wide audience the passion, long hours, and ingenuity that activists put into changing the world, hopefully inspiring others to do the same. However, it has become apparent the format of the show as announced distracts from the vital work these incredible activists do in their communities every day. The push for global change is not a competition and requires a global effort", the statement read.## "As a result, we are changing the format to remove the competitive element and reimagining the concept into a primetime documentary special (air date to be announced), it will showcase the tireless work of six activists and the impact they have advocating for causes they deeply believe in. Each activist will be awarded a cash grant for the organization of their choice, as was planned for the original show", the statement continued.## Global Citizen has even apologized to people for hurting their sentiments. "Global activism centers on collaboration and cooperation, not competition. We apologize to the activists, hosts, and the larger activist community -- we got it wrong. The actor played PVC Vikram Batra in Vishnuvardhan directed biopic war film that was released on Amazon Prime Video on August 12.## After winning accolades for Shershaah, Sidharth recently wrapped up filming of Mission Majnu, which is also a patriotic film. Talking about "Mission Majnu", the SOTY actor told Pinkvilla, "The shooting experience of Mission Majnu has been a very special journey and I am extremely excited about this collaboration with Ronnie Screwvala". ## Sidharth plays a RAW agent in Mission Majnu, which explores the journey of India's covert operation in the heart of Pakistan. He has been paired with Rashmika Mandanna, who marks her Bollywood debut with a spy-thriller film. Los Angeles, September 15, 2021: Sony Pictures' "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" is all set to debut in theaters in the next couple of weeks and fans will get to watch two of Spider-Man's most legendary villains go toe to toe. However, despite being connected with each other, at least in Comic books, Venom 2 won't feature Spider-Man. ## The fact that Sony has built a new Spider-Man movie franchise with Marvel Studios as well as a Venom movie franchise under its own roof. This may look like that a Spider-Man and a Venom crossover can happen anytime, like all the marvel movies. But this isn't that easy as again, the fact, Venom isn't an official part of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)" like Spider-Man. ## Because Venom isn't a part of MCU despite being connected to Spider-Man, has kept fans guessing whether or not there will be an official crossover between Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Tom Hardy's Venom. Well, it is not happening anytime soon but a future crossover is definitely on the cards, as Venom director Andy Serkis said. ## In a new interview, "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" director Andy Serkis addresses the question of a Spider-Man and Venom crossover and confirms that yes it will happen, but "when" is the question. "Look, that's the question on everyone's lips", Serkis told IGN (via comicbook). "They want to know if Venom is gonna meet Spider-Man, but personally, it's never gonna happen. I'm only joking, of course, it's gonna happen". ## While a Spider-Man and a Venom crossover is inevitable, Andy Serkis adds the important contextual note that to reach that stage, the most-awaited crossover, one will have to wait because by rushing to get there, fans could miss out on the potentially richer journey in between. ## "Look, it depends when you want to get there, and also, what the appetite is", Serkis explains. "If people want more Venom stories, then, to jump straight to Spider-Man, you could be missing out on so many great supervillain characters in between now and then. The movie has been titled "Garud" and is set for August 15, 2022, release. ## Having backed films like "Parmanu", "Romeo Akbar Walter", Ajay Kapoor returns to the same zone with his upcoming film "Attack" and newly announced "Garud", collaborating with Subhash Kale after working together in "Roy" and "All Is Well". While the official announcement is yet to be made, according to reports, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt will be reuniting with NTR to play the female lead. This, if happens, will be the second time when Alia and NTR share screen space together. The duo will be seen in SS Rajamouli's upcoming period action drama film, RRR. ## Earlier, the name of Kiara Advani was also surfaced to star opposite Jr. NTR in NTR30. It was reported that Kiara Advani was approached by makers to play the female lead. "Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service", Nolan had said to THR. ## Meanwhile, Nolan has reportedly put forth few demands to Universal Pictures while choosing the studio for his next. He has demanded an exclusive theatrical release for at least 100 days plus, the studio can't release another film 3 weeks before and after his movie. He also asked for total creative control over the film and set a production budget of around $100 million and equal marketing spend while asking 20 percent of first-dollar gross.## Nolan's next movie is a biopic based on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who is considered one of the developers of the atom bomb during World War II. Nolan will produce the film alongside his wife and longtime producing partner Emma Thomas for their Syncopy Inc. banner. Mumbai, September 13, 2021: Marvel Studios' popular and critically acclaimed superhero series, "WandaVision", which premiered on Disney Plus, scored big at the 2021 Creative Arts Emmys, presented across three ceremonies over Saturday and Sunday. ## WandaVision, which focuses on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), won three Emmy awards including Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, Outstanding Production Design, and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for 'Agatha All Along'. This is the first-ever victory for Marvel Studios at the Emmys. ## WandaVision had also earned 23 Emmy nominations, making it the highest for a limited series and second-highest for a series, overall. Meanwhile, Netflix's chess-themed drama show "The Queen's Gambit" topped with 9 awards followed by "The Mandalorian" with seven Emmys. ## Another Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan was nominated for five Emmy awards.
