Box Office: Simu Liu's Shang-Chi Heading Towards A Legendary $200M In North America

Los Angeles, September 20: Simu Liu-led superhero film "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" is playing like a Marvel movie at the box office. For the third weekend in a row, "Shang Chi" remained number 1 at the domestic box office.
The Marvel movie surpassed "Fast & Furious 9" ($173M) and becomes the second-highest grosser at the domestic box office during the pandemic era with $176.9 million including $21.7M on the third weekend. It just took "Shang-Chi" 17-days to reach the second spot.
"Shang-Chi" is well and truly on track to become the first Hollywood movie to gross a legendary $200 million at the North American box office. Ans in between, it will surpass its fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow" to become the highest-grosser Hollywood pic. The Scarlett Johansson fronted earned $183.4M in North America.
Globally, "Shang-Chi" has crossed a brilliant $300 million mark and currently stands at $320 million. The global box office collection of "Shang-Chi" is remarkable considering it is yet to release in China, which is the biggest and key movie market for Hollywood pics. These are the clear indications that this newest MCU film is pulling in pre-pandemic crowds and creating new fans too, domestically and internationally.
On the other hand, Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' sci-fi epic "Dune" kicked off its international run with a massive $36.8 million in the first 4-days in 24 markets. Warner Bros. had reportedly predicated only but a still good number of a $20 million opening. The Denis Villeneuve directed will open in the US on October 22.
