Release Dates Of Much-Awaited Films Prithviraj, Laal Singh Chaddha, 83, Bachchan Pandey, Jersey, Among Others Announced

Mumbai, September 26 - The government of Maharashtra, on September 25, announced that the theaters in the state will be permitted to operate from October 22. The announcement came after filmmaker Rohit Shetty among others met the state CM and urged him to reopen theaters as it is the biggest market for Hindi films. ## Upon the good news, Shetty announced the release date of his long-awaited "Sooryavanshi" on Diwali this year. This actually paves the way for other filmmakers and studios to follow the suit and finalize the premiere dates of their pending films that include medium to big-budget films. ## Yash Raj Films was one of the firsts to announce the release dates of its four movies. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar starrer historical drama film "Prithviraj" has been confirmed to debut in theaters on January 21, 2022. Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh Shalini Pandey, will now hit theaters on 25 February 2022 while Ranbir Kapoor's "Shamshera" arrives on March 18, 2022. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", one of the highly awaited films starring superstar Aamir Khan, has been pushed to Valentine's Day weekend in 2022 from Christmas 2021. Meanwhile, the biopic sports drama "83" featuring Ranveer Singh has taken LSC's original date and is confirmed to arrive on Christmas 2021. ## Producer Sajid Nadiadwala also confirmed the arrival date of three of his upcoming films including "Tadap" (December 3), "Bachchan Pandey" (March 4), and "Heropanti 2" (May 6). Maharashtra Government Announces The Reopening Of Theaters After Filmmaker Rohit Shetty And Others Met State CM

Mumbai, September 25: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday announced that cinema halls and drama theatres in the state will be allowed to operate from October 22 on the condition that they follow all the protocols required to prevent the spread of coronavirus.## The standard operating procedure (SOPs) regarding cinema reopening is in the works and will be issued soon. Earlier in the day, filmmaker Rohit Shetty along with Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios, and representative of multiplex owners met chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and discussed the theater reopening status and urged him for urgent action. ## Theatres and auditoriums in Maharashtra will open after 22nd October 2021 while observing all COVID safety protocols. SOP is in the works and will be declared soon.— CMO Maharashtra (@CMOMaharashtra) September 25, 2021 ## The announcement of cinema reopening in Maharashtra come as a major relief for the Bollywood film industry which is going through a tough phase due to the covid-19 pandemic. It is reported that Bollywood filmmakers are eyeing the Diwali 2021 release for some of their most anticipated films. ## The persence of Rohit Shetty in the meeting with CM Uddhav Thackeray indicates that his directorial "Sooryavanshi" may release during the upcoming big festival season. "Sooryavanshi" starring Akshay Kumar has been on waiting mode since March 2022 and it has already been one and a half years since then. ## Apart from "Sooryavanshi", Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma starrer "Antim: The Final Truth", and Ayushmann Khurrana's "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" are also gearing up for Diwali 2022 release. Interestingly, it was Akshay Kumar's "Bell Bottom", which was the first Bollywood biggie to release post-second covid-19 wave without Maharashtra. Los Angeles, September 25, 2021 - It took just three weeks for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" to reach "Black Widow's" lifetime domestic box office numbers and a few more hours to cross it. There were a lot of doubts about the audience visiting theaters amid the pandemic, and "Shang-Chi" blown away those doubts and becomes the biggest domestic blockbuster. ## The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed superhero movie has completed its 4th weekend in the domestic market and its total collection stands at $196.5 million, after collecting another $13 million in the 4th weekend. The Simu Liu fronted pic had officially crossed its fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow's" $184.4M domestic cum on Friday and became the highest grosser Hollywood pic in North America during the 18-months of the pandemic era. ## Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9 (F9)" remains the third highest-grossing movie at the domestic B.O. during the pandemic with $172.1M. However, globally, it is the top grosser Hollywood film with $716M. Warner Bros./Legendary's "Godzilla vs. Kong" is at number two with $467M globally, then Black Widow with $378.7M WW, and Shang-Chi with well over $360M around the globe. ## "Shang-Chi's" lifetime domestic box office projection is around $225 million. It has already crossed the domestic box office collection of previous Marvel movies such as Captain America ($176 million in 2011), Ant-Man ($180 million in 2015), and Thor ($181 million in 2011) along with The Incredible Hulk ($132 million in 2008). Hyderabad, September 24: Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya will be making his Bollywood debut with the upcoming Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer "Laal Singh Chaddha". The actor is currently busy promoting his film "Love Story" co-starring Sai Pallavi, which has been released in theaters on September 24. ## Naga, however, said in a recent interview that his focus is always on Telugu, and if he gets an opportunity to work in Hindi, he will do that. He also shared his experience of working with Aamir Khan and said that making his Hindi debut alongside the superstar was a big learning experience for him. ## "I got the opportunity of Laal Singh Chaddha magically, and everything happened organically. It was a great learning experience for me to spend nearly 50 days with Aamir Khan".## Earlier, Aamir Khan had attended the pre-release event of Love Story in Hyderabad, where he praised Chaitanya. Aamir had funnily said that the makers of Love Story had to invite him forcibly as he wasn't invited but wanted to go there to covey something special. ## "I had some experiences with Naga Chaitanya that are so special that I wanted to share with his parents. I took his father’s number and his mother’s number too. But I wanted to tell something to all of his fans as well. So I came here. One of the most-awaited Telugu movies, Love Story is a romantic drama directed by the National award-winning director Sekhar Kammula. ## Produced by Narayan Das K Narang, and Puskar Ram Mohan Rao under the banners of Amigos Creations, and Sree Venkateswara Cinemas and distributed by Asian Cinemas, "Love Story" was supposed to release in April this year. Mumbai, September 23: Superstar Ajay Devgn has locked one more film in his long list of the upcoming slate. The actor, who is currently working on multiple films such as Mayday, Maidaan, Thank God, and Disney+Hotstar series Rudra, is all set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar in the sequel to the blockbuster "Drishyam".## Earlier in May this year, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak's Panorama Studios International had acquired the Hindi remake rights of Mohanlal starrer suspense thriller "Drishyam 2". The latest development around the Hindi remake is that it is set to go on floors in December this year after Ajay Devgn finishing his current projects. ## According to Peepingmoon, Ajay Devgn has given his dates from late December to this sequel that will be the remake of Mohanlal's critically acclaimed Malayalam film, Drishyam 2: The Resumption. The sequel will also see Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta reprising their roles from the first part which was released in 2015. ## Abhishek Pathak, who made his directorial debut with Sunny Singh's "Ujda Chaman", will reportedly be directing "Drishyam 2". He has stepped in to helm this much-awaited thriller in the absence of the first part's director Nishikant Kamat who passed away last year due to multiple organ failure. ## The first part of Drishyam traced the struggle of Salgaonkar and his family who come under suspicion when the son of Inspector General Police gets killed. Drishyam 2, which is set six years after the events of the first film, will showcase how Vijay Salgaonkar and his family's past come to haunt them and how they manage to escape once again. ## The original "Drishyam 2" was released directly on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year. Upon its digital premiere, it received rave reviews as audiences hailed it one of the finest suspense thrillers of Indian cinema. Across 11 categories, there are 44 nominees announced from a number of 24 countries. ## Among the Indian nominees, supremely talented, Nawazuddin Siddique, has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his Netflix film "Serious Man". It is a satirical comedy-drama film based on Manu Joseph's book of the same name.## The story follows Ayyan Mani, a middle-aged man working as an assistant to an astronomer at the National Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. Furious at his situation in life, Ayyan develops an outrageous story that his 10-year-old son is a science genius—a lie which later gets out of control. ## Apart from Siddique, actor comedian Vir Das gets nominations in the Comedy category for his special show "Vir Das: For India" on Netflix. Written and co-directed by Das, the comedian celebrates the history of India with his one-of-a-kind perspective in the show. ## Moving from the individual category, Sushmita Sen fronted crime drama web series on Disney+Hotstar, "Aarya" has been nominated in the Best Drama Series category. Sidharth Malhotra's 'Shershaah' Will Be The Opening Film In 1st Himalayan Film Festival

Mumbai, September 22: After proving to be the biggest blockbuster for Amazon Prime Video, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer biographical war film "Shershaah" is all set to be screened on the big screen during the 1st ever The Himalayan Film Festival (THFF) on 24th September. ## Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur will inaugurate the first Himalayan Film Festival on 24th September 2021. The festival spanning five days is being held at Leh, Ladakh from 24th to 28th September 2021.## The inaugural of the festival will witness the presence of makers and cast of Shershah, including Director Shri Vishnuvardhan and the lead actor Shri Siddharth Malhotra. Shershah is also the opening feature film of the festival on September 24. Shershaah is a biographical war film based on the Kargil War hero, Param Vir Chakra awardee Capt. Vikram Batra. ## During the 5-day festival, a package of contemporary National awards and Indian panorama selected films will be showcased at the event. The screenings will be at the Sindhu Sankriti Auditorium, Leh having digital projection facilities.## The festival ceremony will also have a competition section for the short and documentary film where the Awards are for Best Film to be given to Director and Producer, Best Cinematography, Best Editor & Best Story. ## The Himalayan Film festival also envisions institutionalizing a Himalayan film fraternity which will have productive repercussions for filmmaking in the Himalayan parts of India.
