YRF Unveils First Look Poster And Release Date of Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar's 'The Great Indian Family'

Mumbai, August 14 - Yash Raj Films' long-awaited comedy-drama film "The Great Indian Family", starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar in the leading roles finally has a release date in theaters. ## Directed by "Thugs of Hindostan" fame Vijay Krishna Acharya, "The Great Indian Family" has been in production since 2021, but it was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic as well as some other reasons.## Now, the movie has been confirmed to hit cinemas worldwide on September 22, 2023, two weeks after Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", and a week before Prabhas-fronted "Salaar". The release date was announced through a video featuring Vicky Kaushal.## In the video, Kaushal tells us what "family" means as he compares a family to a melodious classical Indian song. He then adds that it feels good to call a family nice but his family is full of snakes as the promo shows how the actor deals with his family in the movie.## With the release date announcement video, YRF also unveiled the first-look poster of the movie which features the entire primary cast, led by Kaushal and Manushi. Hyderabad, August 14 - The Indian box office created history during the weekend of August 11-13 with all the movies running in theaters currently grossing close to 400 crores. However, in-between raining blockbusters, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's "Bholaa Shankar" disappointed big time and registered a low opening weekend at the domestic as well as global box office.## Directed by Meher Ramesh, "Bholaa Shankar" was expected to continue the winning run for Chiranjeevi after the big blockbuster success of "Waltair Veerayya" earlier this year. But it was not the case as "Bholaa Shankar" recorded one of the lowest weekend collections for the superstar in recent times.## "Bhola Shankar" grossed approx. 36 crores worldwide, including just 5 crores at the overseas box office over the 3-day weekend. Domestically, the movie grossed 31 crores approx., including approx. 21.75 crores share collection in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana).## The AK Entertainments and Creative Commercials' production venture needs to gross at least 125 crores worldwide to reach the break-even target, for which, the movie needs a miracle which is not looking to happen. Chennai, August 14 - Pan India actress Rashmika Mandanna has been confirmed on board Dhanush's 51st movie as the female lead. The movie will be directed by the national award-winning filmmaker, Sekhar Kammula and the upcoming movie marks Rashmika's maiden collaboration with Dhanush and Kammula.## Tentatively titled "D51", the multi-lingual movie was officially announced in 2021 before it went for a long delay until recently when the makers confirmed the development. It is the first time that the national awardee, Dhanush and Kammula joined hands for a film. ## The film in the combination of Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Sekhar Kammula will be shot simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages and will also be released in Malayalam and Kannada languages. The breezy entertainer will feature Dhanush in a never-before-seen avatar. ## "D51" is produced by Suniel Narang, and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao of the accomplished production house Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, in association with Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd. Chennai, August 14 - Superstar Rajinikanth has made a roaring comeback with his latest blockbuster "Jailer" which is going bonkers at the box office, be it domestic or overseas. Nelson Dilipkumar's directorial action drama film grossed sensational 308 crores worldwide in the extended 4-day weekend, more than 130 crores than the lifetime collection of the superstar's last movie "Annaatthe" (2021).## "Jailer" grossed huge approx. 177 crores at the domestic box office, including approx. 82 crores in Tamil Nadu. On its fourth day/first Sunday, it grossed approx. 49.40 crores, the second biggest day of its run so far after the opening day of 56.60 crores. In Tamil Nadu, the movie recorded its biggest day on Sunday with approx. 24 crores, besting opening day numbers of approx. 23.50 crores.## At the overseas box office, "Jailer" has been sensational with approx. 131 crores gross ($15.8 million) over the 4-day weekend. Mumbai, August 14 - The Producers Guild of India and Multiplex Association of India have jointly issued a statement on the historic box office weekend of August 11 to August 13 in India which show collections topping 400 crores gross.## The statement read the August 11-13 weekend proved to be the all-time biggest single weekend in the 100+ years of Indian cinema history in terms of gross box office collection. The same weekend also drew 2.10+ crores in admissions in theaters, which is also the highest combined footfalls in the last 10-year history. ## Shibasish Sarkar, president of GUILD, said in the statement, "Mainstream storytelling executed in the right way has resulted in the box office records being shattered. The turnout at theaters has infused a new energy in our industry, audiences are responding in numbers we have not seen for a long time".## Kamal Gianchandani, president of MAI, added, "It was a historic weekend which proves once again that India loves going to cinemas to see great movies. This weekend is also an undeniable demonstration of cinemas being the ultimate place to be a part of a shared experience. This weekend shows that movies and cinemas are back in a big, big way".## The biggest contributor to this historic collection during the said weekend was Sunny Deol's period action drama film "Gadar 2" which grossed a huge 159 crores, followed by superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" which grossed minted approx. 120 crores, Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" with approx. 51 crores, and Chiranjeevi's "Bholaa Shankar" which contributed approx. 31 crores. ## Meanwhile, the same weekend also created history for PVR Cinemas across the country. Mumbai, August 14 - Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing movie in India, "Oppenheimer" has a good third weekend at the Indian box office despite facing competition with a few of the Indian movies that are running riot. ## The Cillian Murphy-led atom bomb movie clocked approx. 6.50 crores in the fourth weekend, pushing the total gross collection to approx. 147 crores. It will finish over 150 crores gross thus emerging superhit at the Indian box office. It is also the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India this year.## The biggest advantage "Oppenheimer" is having the IMAX screens on which it is performing exceptionally well. In its 4th weekend in India, the IMAX gross collection of the movie is approx. 3.50 crores while the total gross so far in this format is over 30 crores which is about 20% of the total collection.## "Oppenheimer" has so far grossed approx. $650 million (5390 crores) at the global box office through 4th Sunday. At the domestic (North America) box office, it has minted $264.5 million (2195 crores) while the international collection is approx. $385 million (3190 crores). India is the fifth biggest international market for the movie. ## Meanwhile, Margot Robbie-led "Barbie" scored approx. 1 crore gross in its 4th weekend, taking total gross collection to approx. 52.70 crores. The Hindi-language box office was particularly on fire, and eventually, scored the biggest single-day ever on August 13, Sunday. ## The three Bollywood films running in theaters currently, "Gadar 2", "OMG 2", and "Rocky And Rani Ki Prem Kahani" combined scored approx. 73.50 crores net (~87 crores gross) which is the biggest single-day collection by Bollywood movies ever, besting the previous record of 68 crores by Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan" earlier this year.## All three aforementioned movies clocked massive occupancies throughout the day yesterday with Sunny Deol-led "Gadar 2" going on to record a near-perfect 96% occupancy in the evening shows, the highest tracked occupancy ever for a Bollywood movie. The movie faced capacity issues in many cinemas as it scored one of the biggest single-day collections in Indian cinema.## Gadar 2: The Katha Continues scored approx. 52 crores net (official data awaited) on Sunday (August 13) which is the second biggest first Sunday of all time for a Bollywood title, behind SRK's "Pathaan" (68 crores). The 3-day opening weekend of the latest blockbuster clocked an excellent approx 135 crores net, which is the second biggest of all time. ## OMG 2, the Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam-starrer social comedy-drama also recorded its biggest day so far on Sunday with a net collection of approx. 17.50 crores (official awaited). The 3-day opening weekend of the movie is approx. 43.50 crores net. ## Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, also remained rock solid on its 3rd Sunday and clocked approx. 4 crores net. Directed by Karan Johar and starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, RRKPK has already crossed 100 crores net and the third Sunday collection takes its total cum to approx. 131 crores net.## The coming Tuesday (August 15), will most likely topple the biggest single-day collection record for Bollywood. Chennai, August 13 - Superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" scores another huge day at the domestic box office. The movie sees a jump of around 10% today, the first Sunday/fourth day from the Saturday collection which itself was huge.## The action drama film scores an estimated approx. 45 crores gross collection on Sunday which takes the total collection to approx. 170 crores gross over a 4-day extended weekend. In Tamil Nadu, the movie grossed an estimated 21-22 crores today, pushing the total gross in the state to approx. 80 crores in 4 days.## As far as the net collection is concerned, "Jailer" is nearing the 150 crore mark after an estimated 38 crore net on its fourth day for a total of approx. 146 crores net.
