Warner Bros. 'Furiosa' Box Office Projection Revealed

Los Angeles, May 4 - Warner Bros. Pictures' post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is ready to roll its arm at the box office coming 24 May. The prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) could be a winner as per the early box office projection. ## According to Deadline, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-fronted blockbuster is tracking to earn $40 million - $50 million over the 4-day domestic opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The report says that it could edge out Sony/Alcon Entertainment's animated Garfield which is tracking a $35 million opening in the same weekend. ## Deadline reports that Furiosa has the benefit of being an Imax and PLFs and a Cannes Film Festival world premiere as a global loudspeaker which gives it a shot at $40+ million start from earlier projection of $30+ million, same as Garfield. ## Directed by George Miller, Furiosa could also turn into a surprise winner at the Indian box office. Mad Max: Fury Road grossed around 15 crores in India in 2015. In recent times, Hollywood movies have done well in India and with Chris Hemsworth, who has a genuine fan following among the Indian audiences, Furiosa could start well. Thalapathy Vijay's 'Ghilli' Re-Release Tops 30 Crore Worldwide Gross

Chennai, May 3 - Thalapathy Vijay's sports action drama film Ghilli is having an excellent re-run and has broken into the 30 crores mark at the worldwide box office. It is already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of the year. ## The movie has grossed around 24.25 crores in India in 13 days so far. From the second Monday-Thursday (4 days), it minted approximately 4-4.25 crores gross which is an excellent hold. At the overseas box office, the blockbuster has grossed approximately 6.50 crores, pushing the total worldwide collection to around 30.75 crores gross. ## Ghilli will cross Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam's lifetime collection of 33 crores in the coming days to become the 3rd highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office. It has already crossed Lal Salaam's domestic total of 21 crores. ## As reported earlier, Ghilli is already the highest-grossing re-release film in India in the 21st century, after beating James Cameron's Avatar 3D which minted 18 crores back in 2012. Starring Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Kareena Kapoor, the movie is getting benefitted from the lean phase of new movies. ## Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, Crew minted approximately 3 crores net, dropping around 24% in its 5th week. The movie had the strongest hold in the last week in its box office run so far and it is expected to maintain the same trend in the next couple of weeks. ## The total net collection of the film is approximately 78.80 crores while the gross collection is around 93.25 crores in 35 days. Overseas, Crew has grossed an estimated 55 crores, pushing the total worldwide cume to over 148 crores. Mumbai, May 3 - Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapataa Ladies was released theatrically on March 1st before going to digital after the 8 weeks of the box office run. However, in a positive indication, the movie witnessed a minor jump in its 9th week after the OTT release. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies has been hailed as one of the best Indian films of 2024 but the lack of star power proved a roadblock in its box office journey. Kochi, May 1 - The latest blockbuster Aavesham has become the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam film at the box office. The Fahadh Faasil-starrer has outgrossed recent mega-blockbuster Premalu to enter the top Malayalam movie globally. ## The Jithu Madhavan's directorial action drama film will be crossing 133+ crores worldwide gross at the end of its 21st day (3rd Wednesday) which will take it past Premalu which minted approximately 131.50 crores at the global box office. ## Aavesham is now behind only Manjummel Boys (236+ crores), 2018 (180 crores), Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life (156 crores), and Pulimurugan (139.50 crores) at number 5. Hyderabad, April 29 - Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya reunited with director Chandoo Mondeti for a rustic love story action thriller Thandel which is scheduled to release theatrically later this year. The movie has Sai Pallavi as the female lead, reuniting with Chaitanya after Love Story (2021). ## Thandel is touted to be the best film of Naga Chaitanya and hence, not only in trade, the movie is in hot demand in digital and satellite. Recently, it was announced that Netflix acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie and now, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the streamer has paid a whopping 40 crores for the same. ## The 40 crores deal with Netflix is the highest-ever digital deal for a Naga Chaitanya film which shows the anticipation for the movie among the audiences.
