Mumbai, July 2 - As the first half of 2024 comes to an end, it has been a decent year for the Bollywood/Hindi film industry at the box office with a couple of hits. The film industry left with a big disappointment after the disastrous performance of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, but there were a couple of unexpected hits which kept the box office running. ## The highest-grossing Hindi film of the year so far is Hrithik Roshan's Fighter with over 350 crores in gross collection at the worldwide box office. It is also the highest Hindi grosser overseas with an estimated 104 crores ($12.45 million). ## Fighter, despite not performing to the level of expectations, did well to rebound after the struggling first week when it dropped massively on the first Monday. Hyderabad, July 2 - The sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD starring Pan India superstar Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani showed a strong hold on the film's first Monday at the domestic as well as the overseas box office.## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD entered the crucial Monday after grossing over 500 crores worldwide in its 4-day opening weekend. The strong hold on Monday was crucial for the movie for its longevity at the box office and it did the same. ## Kalki grossed an estimated 40+ crores on its 5th day in India in all versions, dropping around 60% from Sunday which is a good hold after the huge weekend collection. Chennai, July 2 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. It has surpassed horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 which fell a little short of the 100 crores mark at an estimated around 99 crores. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja cleared the 100 crores worldwide gross in its third weekend in which it grossed approximately 4.50 crores, despite Kalki 2898 AD having a strong debut in Tamil Nadu with over 20 crores gross. ## After 17 days, the total domestic collection of Maharaja is an estimated 76+ crores gross while the overseas total is around 24 crores, for 100+ crores worldwide cume. Mumbai, July 1 - After the fantastic opening weekend, Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD put up an excellent hold on its first Monday in the dubbed Hindi version with a drop of just around 20% from the opening day, Thursday. ## The Nag Ashwin's directorial blockbuster shows the power of super positive word of mouth as it scores an estimated 16.50-17.50 crores net collection. This takes the total Hindi collection of the film to around 128 crores in just 5 days as the first full week is heading for 160+ crores net. ## Despite coming after an extended weekend, the superb hold on Monday, be it single screens or multiplexes indicates a long run for the movie and with the current trend, it will reach 200 crores net in the second weekend itself. Thanks to its sensational run so far, it will beat all but Baahubali 2, RRR, and KGF 2 by the end of the first week to emerge as the 4th highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi. ## Apart from Hindi, Kalki 2898 AD also scored a decent hold in the other versions as all versions are estimated to be 40+ crores gross on the first Monday. Mumbai, October 9 - Maverick director SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion set the benchmark for not just Telugu cinema but also in the Hindi and rest of the versions. It was the last film to sell over 5 crores tickets in Hindi. Baahubali 2 was only the second South Indian film, after Baahubali, to reach 100 crores net mark in Hindi. While no other film could come close to the footfalls benchmark set by BB2, nearly a dozen South Indian films have managed to breach 100 crores net mark in Hindi, with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule went on to become, not the biggest dubbed grosser, but also the biggest Hindi net grosser of all-time with over 800 crores. The latest South Indian film to join the 100 crores net club in Hindi is Rishab Shetty's Kannada blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1, which is the prequel to 2022's Kantara. The period folk action thriller has topped the milestone in 7 days, becoming the second Kannada movie and 11th South Indian title to do so in Hindi. So far, 11 South Indian movies have topped 100 crores net at the Hindi box office, and 8 of them are Telugu movies, while 2 films are Kannada origin and one is a Tamil title. It has beaten Carry On Jatta 3 which had grossed approximately 44.50 crores in the opening weekend in 2023. ## Jatt and Juliet 3 minted approximately 19.60 crores in India and 28.50 crores in international markets. The movie took just 4 days to enter the coveted box office club. ## The sensational blockbuster scored an estimated 39 crores net on Sunday which takes its total collection to over 111 in Hindi. In terms of days taken to reach 100 crores Hindi net, Kalki 2898 AD is the 26th fastest to do so. ## The list of the fastest films in 100 crores net club includes 5 movies in 2 days, 15 movies in 3 days, and 9 movies in 4 days. Los Angeles, July 1 - It's raining records for Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD which has scored the biggest opening weekend for an Indian movie in North America as it entered in the top 10 highest-grossing Indian film there, according to trade analyst Luiz Fernando. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD scored an estimated $11.2 million (93.35 crores) in the 4-day opening weekend+Wednesday previews and is now the 8th biggest Indian title there after beating Salaar: Ceasefire's $8.90 million, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's $10.6 million, and PK's $10.60 million entire run there. ## Kalki 2898 AD will next surpass Padmaavat ($12.20 million) and Dangal ($12.40 million) in the next couple of days as the 6th highest-grossing Indian title in North America. Mumbai, June 30 - All hell loose as Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD hits the ball out of the park on its first Sunday as the movie is showing a jump of around 40% in the dubbed Hindi version which is phenomenal as Saturday was itself huge with approximately 26 crores net collection. ## The collection on Saturday was affected by the final of the T20 World Cup to some extent but Sunday made up for the lost ground. As said, Kalki 2898 stormed past the 100 crores net mark in the 4-day extended weekend after an estimated 38-40+ crores net (45-47+ crores gross) on its first Sunday for a total of around 110 crores net (~130 crores gross) in Hindi. ## The Hindi version collection is strong everywhere, be it in mass centres or multiplex and the trend is such that it will score well during the weekdays as there were some capacity issues at some places which are expected to come good in the coming days.## Apart from Hindi, the rest of the other versions were also firing all calendars on Sunday as the overall collection is flirting with 100 crores gross as estimates suggest 95-105 crores for all versions today and it could higher depending on South versions. If the Sunday estimates hold, the movie will touch 300+ crores net (355+ crores gross) in the 4-day opening weekend. ## The worldwide collection of the movie is, at least, 485+ crores gross in 4 days with a high possibility of crossing 500 crores when the actual overseas collection is made official tomorrow. Mumbai, June 30 - Disney's Pixar mega-blockbuster Inside Out 2 has become the fastest animated movie ever to cross $1 billion at the worldwide box office, taking just 19 days to reach the milestone where only 52 movies could reach before. ## The summer blockbuster added another $165+ million worldwide in the 3rd weekend, pushing global telly to $1.015 billion (8460 crores), including $469.3 million (3910 crores) in North America and $545.5 million (4550 crores) through Sunday (19 days). ## IO2 is the 11th animated movie of all time to achieve the feat of $1 billion globally. It is also the first movie since Margot Robbie's Barbie last year to hit the milestone. Among the 11 animated movies in the billion-dollar club, Disney has 8 movies. ## The blockbuster sequel has topped Disney's Frozen 2 which took 25 days to reach the $1 billion mark worldwide.
