Mumbai, July 15 - Director Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD is a one-horse race at the Hindi box office and is marching towards 300 crores net club after a very good third weekend despite the arrival of new releases in the form of Akshay Kumar's Sarfira and Kamal Haasan's Hindustani 2. ## The Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic remained the first choice of Hindi moviegoers after it scored approximately 21.70 crores net collection, more than the combined opening weekend total of Sarfira and Hindustani 2's 15.80 crores net in the third weekend. ## The total Hindi collection of Kalki 2898 AD has crossed 250 crores net at approximately 255 crores after 18 days. The movie will beat SS Rajamouli's RRR (272.80 crores net approx.) in its 4th weekend to become the third highest-grossing South Indian movie in Hindi after Baahubali 2 (511 crores) and KGF: Chapter (435 crores). ## With new releases not performing to the level of expectations, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to continue to perform well for a couple of weeks and is on track to enter 300 crores net club. There is, however, Dharma Productions' Bad Newz on July 19 which might put some dent in Kalki's progress but it is likely to sail through due to the acceptance in all age groups.## The next big challenge to Kalki 2898 AD will be on July 26 when Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine will hit Indian cinemas.## Stay tuned...

New Delhi, July 15 - Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic-comedy Jatt and Juliet 3 crossed 90 crores worldwide gross during its third weekend as it is heading towards becoming only the second Indian Punjabi movie ever to top 100 crores gross. ## Directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, the third instalment of the blockbuster franchise grossed an estimated 3.10 crores in its third weekend at the domestic box office, taking its total India gross to approximately 40.65 crores gross (34.40 crores net) in 18 days.## Jatt & Juliet 3 is the second biggest Punjabi grosser at the domestic box office, after Carry on Jatta 3 (56 crores gross approx.) which will remain the top grosser for now as JJ3 is unlikely to gross another 15 crores in India with legs slowing down. ## Overseas, JJ3 has grossed an estimated 53+ crores, pushing worldwide cume to 93.50+ crores gross. This took the movie's total to 690 crores in 18 days. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi epic has become the 5th biggest-grosser at the Indian box office after beating Ranbir Kapoor's Animal (660 crore gross approx.) and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (657.50 crores gross approx.) over the third weekend. Kalki will top 700 crores in domestic gross in a couple of days.## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD has grossed an estimated 256 crores, for a worldwide cume of 945.80 crores after the third weekend. The movie will top 950 crores by Monday to become the 7th highest-grossing Indian movie globally of all time. ## The hold in the third weekend has kept Kalki 2898 AD in the race to reach the milestone of 1000 crores gross which only 6 movies have topped previously. Shankar, Indian 2 witnessed a continuous drop over the weekend due to mixed to negative word of mouth, but did enough to cross 100 crores worldwide. In India, the movie grossed an estimated 69+ crores gross and overseas, it minted an estimated 40 crores, for 109+ crores worldwide cume, beating Maharaja (105 crores gross approx.). ## Despite the 100+ crores opening weekend, Indian 2 somehow performed underwhelmingly as it was projected to score 100 crore weekend at the domestic box office alone. The movie's 69 crores domestic collection includes an estimated 35.50+ crores in Tamil Nadu and 17 crores in Telugu states.## Language-wise, the original Tamil version grossed an estimated 48.50+ crores, followed by 16+ crores in Telugu, and 4.50+ crores collection in Hindi. Chennai, July 14 - Veteran Kamal Haasan's vigilante action thriller Indian 2, directed by S. Shankar, scored the biggest opening of 2024 for a Tamil movie at the domestic and worldwide box office by a long margin. ## The sequel to the 1996 film Indian, Indian 2 grossed an estimated 30.25 crores in India and 26 crores overseas for 56.25 crores worldwide on opening day. It has beaten Dhanush's Captain Miller, which scored approximately 14 crores on its opening day, to become the biggest Tamil opener of the year.## With the opening day collection, Indian 2 became the 6th highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024 at the domestic as well as worldwide box office, and with the second-day box office figures, it has become the third biggest grosser after Maharaja (104 crores gross approx.) and Aranmanai 4 (99 crores gross approx.) worldwide. ## Indian 2 stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, leading a massive ensemble which also includes Siddharth, S. Mumbai, July 12 - Akshay Kumar's drama film Sarfira takes a low start at the box office with poor occupancy throughout the day. The movie was expected to see some boost due to the positive reviews which don't seem happening as it opens in the range of Selfiee. ## Sarfira, directed by Sudha Kongara, has had pre-sales between Akshay Kumar's previous two low starters, Selfiee and Mission Raniganj which indicated a low start which turns out to be true as it scored an estimated 2.25-2.50 crores net opening day. ## The movie was always going to open in a similar range due to its remake status which has struggled in the post-COVID era, and its subject which doesn't have mass appeal. The initial word of mouth, however, seems to be positive which can come into play over the weekend but it will be hard for it to make up for the very low opening. ## Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 (Hindi) also has a poor start which was expected due to negligible pre-sales. As per the early estimates, the movie is expected to open in the range of 1.25 crores net collection which might vary on either side when the actuals come. ## Indian 2, however, has a much better showing in all versions on its opening day as it is expected to score an estimated 25-26 crores net (30-31 crores gross) collection. The movie has opened on the expected lines with a slightly lower of the optimistic projections. ## In Tamil Nadu, it is expected to gross in the range of 13+ crores, followed by 9-10 crores in Telugu states which is a good collection. The rest of India gross of the movie is estimated to be around 8 crores, including around 4 crores in Karnataka. Box Office: Akshay Kumar's 'Sarfira' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, July 11 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira, a remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, is finally hitting the big screens on July 12 after multiple delays and postponements. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the original movie starring Suriya. ## Sarfira has been the most anticipated new movie for the last couple of weeks, as per the IMDb's real-time popularity but the pre-sales response is telling a completely different story. The advance booking of Sarfira opened a couple of days ago but it has been progressing at a snail's pace and is not going anywhere. ## As of 4 PM on July 11, the pre-sales gross collection of Sarfira is only approximately 32 lakh with 15.6K sold for the opening day. With not much time left for the first show to start, the advance sales of the movie are heading for around 50+ lakh for the opening day which is very low. ## In comparison to the previous movies of Akshay, the pre-sales of Sarfira are trending a little above Selfiee which finished opening day sales at just around 40 lahks, and below Mission Raniganj (76 lakh gross), which are among the lowest for the actor in many years. Sarfira's pre-sales will probably finish somewhere between Selfiee and Mission Raniganj.## Selfiee opened at around 2.50 crores net while Mission Ranigang took the start of 2.80 crores net and a similar sort of opening is expected for Sarfira with a possibility of 3+ crores start depending on word of mouth. However, unlike Selfiee, Sarfira has to face challenges, first with holdover Kalki 2898 AD which is running strongly and second with Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 which is also releasing on July 12. ## Sarfira is not a mass entertainer, plus the original version of the film has widely been watched by the Hindi audience so the areas where a movie can grow are limited.
