Mumbai, September 6 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted Stree 2 has had an excellent hold in the third week, scoring over 70 crores net collection. This makes it the biggest third-week collection ever in Hindi, beating the 7-year-old record of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. ## The horror-comedy blockbuster, directed by Amar Kaushik, had a sensational third weekend followed by an excellent hold during the weekdays to finish the third week at 70.20 crores net. On its 4th Thursday, it scored approximately 5.35 crores, which takes its total collection past 500 crores net, making it the 6th film ever to do so. ## Becoming the biggest third-week net grosser is a remarkable achievement for Stree 2 to beat a long-standing record of SS Rajamouli's directorial BB2 which still remains the biggest third-week grosser in terms of gross collection. It is said that "the actor's vision is to revive the social comedy genre by keeping it exclusive for the big screen for at least 12 weeks". ## One of the alarming chatters ongoing within the Bollywood film industry is that OTT platforms are dictating terms and forcing filmmakers to release their movies on pre-decided XYZ dates even if it is not suitable for the film's business. The digital platforms are also deciding the film's prices by keeping the box-office clause in the contract.## "Aamir is willing to sell and value his film based on the audience reception to the content on theatrical release. With no logo of digital players on posters and trailers, Aamir aims to keep his communication clear – experience his content only on the big screen. His idea is to go back to the good old days when viewers didn’t have any idea about the satellite premieres", the report adds.## Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has several films in the pipeline under his production house, Aamir Khan Productions. Box Office: 'The Greatest of All Time' Opening Day Early Estimates

Chennai, September 5 - One of the biggest films of the year, Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time was released on the big screens on September 5 amid huge anticipation. The movie received mixed to positive reception from the audience, but it didn't stop the movie from taking a huge opening at the box office. ## Thalapathy Vijay has proved in the past that his movies are critic-proof and have scored a big collection at the box office. The GOAT, as far as the opening is concerned, is proving critics' reviews as a secondary thing once again. ## According to the early estimates, The GOAT is expected to score 28-30 crores in gross collection in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The TN collection might vary depending on offline ticket sales in smaller centres which is a massive aspect of South Indian movies. ## Outside Tamil Nadu, the action thriller is looking to score in the range of 9 crores gross collection in Karnataka, and 6+ crores gross in Kerala. The movie, however, has a below-par opening in Telugu states as estimates suggest around 4 crores gross start, which is nowhere near Vijay's last film, Leo's opening in this region. Mumbai, September 5 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted mega-blockbuster horror-comedy Stree 2 has entered the 500 crores net club, becoming the first film of 2024 and 6th of all time to achieve the feat in the Hindi language.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 entered the 500 crores net club on its 22nd day, becoming the second fastest after Shah Rukh Khan-fronted Jawan (18 days) to do so in Hindi. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 is the third fastest in the list with 24 days. ## The sequel to 2018's film scored approximately 498 crores net in 21 days and is expected to be 503+ crores net at the end of its 22nd day (4th Thursday). It is the first 500 crores net grosser for Shraddha Kapoor as well as Rajkummar Rao, director Amar Kaushik and Maddock Films. ## Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Stree 2 is the overall 9th movie ever to enter the 500 crores net club at the Indian box office in all languages and is the 5th Bollywood movie to do so. August 2024 Indian Box Office Report

Mumbai, September 5 - August 2024 show some of the most-awaited films getting released but none could leave a mark at the Indian box office, except for mega-blockbuster success of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2, along with Tamil movies Demonte Colony 2, and Raayan, and Telugu title Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.## Despite the mixed bag of successes, August proved to be the biggest-grossing month of the year (so far) at the Indian box office, thanks to the monstrous contribution from Stree 2. The IBO delivered approximately 1100 crores gross collection in August, with almost 50% contribution from Stree 2.## Amar Kaushik's directorial was easily the highest-grossing film in India in Independence Day month, with an approximate gross collection of 540 crores, almost 13X of the second biggest grosser of the month, Vikram-starrer Tamil movie Thangalaan which grossed approximately 42 crores.## There were 3 major Bollywood releases in August, and other than Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action thriller Vedaa proved to be failures with approximately 33 crores gross, and 25 crores gross, respectively. ## Among the Telugu titles, Double iSmart and Mr. Bachchan ended up as huge disasters while the only saving grace for the industry came towards the end of the month in the form of Nani-starrer Saripodhaa Sanivaaram which was the highest-grossing Telugu movie in August with 26 crores gross (3 days only).## For Tamil, other than Thangalaan which underperformed, it was Dhanush-starrer Raayan which released in July with a blockbuster collection and continued the momentum in August to add another 36 crores gross collection to its total and was the biggest Tamil grosser of the month. Horror thriller Demonte Colony 2 also proved to be a success with approximately 35 crores gross in Tamil. ## The total domestic collection in August was the highest of the year, beating January which delivered approximately 1025 crores in gross collection in India. It was also a year to remember for Shah Rukh Khan and his fans, however, 2024 hasn't been the same for them with not a single release. ## After 2024, it looks like there will be no film of Shah Rukh Khan getting released in 2025 as well. The actor is presently working on director Sujoy Ghosh's action thriller The King which is in the pre-production stage. Hyderabad, September 3 - The much-awaited Tamil action thriller The Greatest of All Time has scored the record pre-release theatrical business for Thalapathy Vijay in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). ## Vijay's popularity has been soaring across the country, especially among the Telugu audience with each passing film which has been reflected in the theatrical business. According to the Telugu trade portals, Mythri Movie Makers has acquired the theatrical rights of the movie in AP/TG. ## The film's AP/TG theatrical business has been valued at 21 crores, including 12 crores for the Andhra region. This is the highest pre-release business for Thalapathy Vijay in Telugu states, beating the previous record of Leo (16 crores). ## The GOAT will need to score around 35 crores in gross collection to break even in AP/TG. Vijay's last film, Leo was a huge success in the Telugu market, grossing around 50 crores. Hyderabad, September 3 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's blockbuster action drama Gabbar Singh was re-released on the occasion of his birthday yesterday and as expected, the movie scored the biggest opening for a re-release Indian movie at the worldwide box office. ## Gabbar Singh had previews on Sunday before a full-fledged release the next day. The film grossed approximately 6.25 crores in India on its opening day, including previews. This makes it the biggest re-release domestic opener, beating Mahesh Babu's Murari and Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli which grossed around 4.75 crores each. ## Overseas, Harish Shankar's directorial scored around 75 lahks, for a worldwide opening of 7+ crores. With this, it has also become the biggest worldwide Indian re-release opener, surpassing Murari and Businessmen which grossed around 5.25 crores each on the first day. ## With such a good start, one assumes the film would go on to score a big lifetime re-release collection but that's not the case here. South Indian films, especially Telugu re-releases tend to have a short life at the box office as these films are re-released as a mark of celebration rather than a genuine re-release, which means the collection after the first 2 days is reduced drastically. ## Gabbar Singh, meanwhile, was originally re-released in 2012 and emerged as a big blockbuster with a worldwide box office collection of over 100 crores. 'Kanguva' Scores Record Post-Theatrical Streaming Deal For Suriya

Chennai, September 3 - One of the most-anticipated Pan Indian movies Kanguva has scored the record post-theatrical streaming deal for actor Suriya. The movie is directed by Siva and also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in prominent roles. ## According to Forum Reelz, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Kanguva for all languages. The streaming giant has paid a whopping 100 crores to grab the rights and this is the biggest streaming deal for Suriya. ## Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, Kanguva was supposed to hit the big screens on October 10 but has now been postponed to November 2024 in order to avert a clash with superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan which is scheduled for Pan India release on Dussehra. ## Kanguva is a story that travels 500 years from the 1700s to 2023 about a Hero who has to fulfil a mission left unfinished. Complete Main Cast of Superstar Rajinikanth-Fronted 'Coolie' Announced

Chennai, September 2 - Blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj teamed up with superstar Rajinikanth for the first time for an action drama film, titled Coolie. The movie, produced by Sun Pictures, is shaping up to be one of the most-anticipated movies of 2025. ## Over the last few days, the makers have been introducing the main cast of the film with the first-look character posters. On August 28, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir was introduced as Dayal to play one of the important roles, before the announcement of veteran Telugu star Nagarjuna as Simon on the next day. ## Shruti Haasan as Preethi was announced to play the female lead on August 30 while Sathyaraj as Rajasekar was announced to play a prominent role the next day. Kannada star Upendra, who has been in the news for the last couple of weeks for his role in the film, was finally confirmed on board as Kaleesha. He is reportedly playing the role of the main villain. ## After all the main supporting cast, the makers introduced superstar Rajinikanth as Deva on September 2nd. In the first look poster, Rajinikanth can be seen holding a number tag that coolies wear with 1421 written on it. Interestingly, all the actors were introduced with monochrome posters and gold is also a common factor in them. ## Meanwhile, there are rumours that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will be playing a cameo role in Coolie, however, the official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
