Box Office Blockbuster 'Moana' Is The Most Streamed Movie Ever On Disney Plus; Numbers Revealed

Los Angeles, November 11 - Back in 2016, Disney's animated musical fantasy adventure Moana was released and turned out to be a cultural phenomenon with immense popularity, especially among kids. It was a big box office success for Disney, grossing around $700 million globally, and now, the film is doing wonders on streaming also.

Ahead of the release of Moana 2 on November 27, a recent report by Bloomberg revealed that Moana is the most streamed movie on Disney+ since the platform was first launched in November 2019. According to the report, Moana is not only the most streamed title from Disney, but it's also one of the most popular films on any platform.



Since Disney+ debuted in 2019, Moana has been one of the four most-watched movies on the streamer, with over 80 billion minutes watched by the growing fanbase of the franchise. In other words, the 80 billion viewing minutes are equivalent to seeing the picture 748 million times, and that is staggering.

The massive viewership of Moana is attributed to the growing popularity of the film among kids who are the primary audience of the franchise. According to Nelson's report, Moana has been one of the four most-watched films on any streaming service on a yearly basis for the past half-decade.

Thanks to the historic success of Moana at the box office and streamer, the sequel is now projected to reach new heights at the box office. Recently, a report emerged that the sequel has turned out so good that it can replicate the success of Disney's Inside Out 2 which grossed a mammoth $1.69 billion worldwide earlier this year. Moana is projected to score, at least, $135+ million in its domestic opening weekend.
