Mumbai, August 23 - Bollywood breakout of the year, horror-comedy Stree 2 from Maddock Films and Jio Studios has had an epic first week at the domestic box office with 291+ crores net collection, which is the biggest of the 2024 for a Bollywood as well as Hindi title.## The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster surpassed Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 but fell short of Ranbir Kapoor-fronted Animal to score the 4th biggest first-week collection of all-time in Hindi. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan remains the biggest first-week grosser, followed by his Jawan at the second spot.## The box office juggernaut of Stree 2 began with the all-time record previews for an Indian movie with 8.50 crores net collection, followed by the biggest Independence opening day (excluding previews) of 51.80 crores net. It scored approximately 191.50 crores net first weekend and then remained rock solid during weekdays. ## Here are the top 10 movies with the biggest first-week net collection in Hindi (including extended week) - approx. figure## 1. Mumbai, August 22 - One of the potential Tamil highest-grossers of the year, The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT) starring Thalapathy Vijay is all set to hit the big screens on September 5th in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the sci-fi action thriller is super hot in the trade which is expecting it to score huge numbers at the box office. Not just in India, but the overseas market is also where Vijay's films have excelled in the past and the expectations are no less this time as well. ## According to the latest Tamil media reports, the entire overseas theatrical rights of The GOAT have been begged by Phars Films for a whopping 53 crores, which is said to be the second biggest for a Tamil title after Vijay's last year's blockbuster Leo (64 crores) and Kamal Haasan's upcoming Thug Life (63 crores).## Given the track record of Vijay's films at the overseas box office, the distributors could be up for huge returns. Mumbai, August 22 - Maddock Films and Jio Studios' horror-comedy Stree 2 has a sensational extended 8-day first week at the box office with a collection of approximately 291+ crores net. It is already one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time.## The Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster's 291.50 crores net (including approx. 16.80 crores net on the second Thursday) is the 4th biggest first week (including extended) ever in Hindi, after Pathaan, Jawan, and Animal. Interestingly, all these films were released in the last two years, including Gadar 2 which is 5th in this list.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is the highest-grossing Indian horror-comedy film, miles ahead of Kartik Aaryan-fronted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which scored 184+ crores net collection in its lifetime run. The latest blockbuster will be topping 300 crores net by tomorrow and will become only the 15th movie of all time to achieve the milestone in Hindi.## At the worldwide box office, the sequel has surpassed 400 crores gross collection in the flat 8 days. There have been mixed voices regarding this clash as both films are huge in terms of budget and scale with tremendous buzz and hype. ## Now, according to the latest buzz in Tamil media, the makers are contemplating postponing Kanguva to avoid the clash with the Rajinikanth-starrer. Mumbai, August 21 - There is no stopping Stree 2 which has another big day at the box office. The movie continues to trend above expectations during the weekdays after the heavily frontloaded holiday period of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. ## The horror-comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao completes 7 days at the box office with a net collection of around 275 crores after an estimated 19-20 crores, with a drop of around 25% on its first Wednesday (7th day). It is one of the biggest non-opening Wednesdays at the Indian box office. ## Stree 2 will finish its 8-day extended first week with a collection of around 290 crores net and will break into the 300 crores net club by the second Friday. Earlier, it surpassed Fighter's domestic gross of 254 crores in 5 days. ## The sequel has grossed approximately 306 crores in India and an estimated 55 crores at the overseas box office for a worldwide cume of 361 crores in just 6 days.
