The film witnessed almost 200% growth from Friday to Sunday, which is excellent. ## According to early estimates, R.S. Prasanna's directorial venture scored in the range of 28-30 crores net on its third day, pushing the total domestic opening weekend to around 60 crores. The movie really turned the tide after the low opening with massive growth on Saturday and Sunday, as the weekend, which looked like it might finish in the 40s, has come up much higher. ## The opening weekend trend of the movie has stunned the trade, first with the opening and then with what followed next. Mumbai, June 21 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par goes overdrive on the second day and scores an almost perfect 100% growth after the double-digit opening day. This is the biggest second-day jump for a Bollywood movie with a double-digit start. ## According to early estimates, the film has scored in the range of 21-22+ crores net on Saturday, which takes its total collection to around 32 crores net in 2 days. The opening weekend, which looked like it might finish in the mid-40s, is now aiming for 55 crores net or might be even higher as pre-sales for Sunday are excellent. ## The huge second-day growth has made up for most of the lost ground of the opening day, which saw a decent start, but it couldn't be called good, given the fact that Aamir's film used to take much bigger openings in the past. The actor has nearly half a dozen films in the pipeline, and one of the hugely anticipated ones is Drishyam 3. ## Drishyam is among the most successful film franchises of Indian cinema with immense repeat value. The third instalment of it was recently confirmed for October 2, 2026, release. According to the report by Pinkvilla, the movie will start its shooting journey exactly a year before its theatrical debut. ## "The Gandhi Jayanti date holds a lot of significance for the Drishyam franchise (those who have watched would know why), and hence, the makers are embarking on the journey for the final Drishyam film from October 2, 2025", says the report. ## Ajay Devgn has already reportedly allotted his dates for Drishyam 3, which will be shot at real locations of Maharashtra, as well as the studio set up during a marathon schedule, spanning 3 months. The script of the film is already locked, and the makers are working on the dialogue draft at the moment. ## The entire cast of the franchise, along with director Abhishek Pathak, will return for the third instalment. The report further states that it's not clear if Drishyam 3 is a remake of the Malayalam film or an original script, as the makers were also working on an original draft at some point in time. Hyderabad, June 21 - Tamil star Dhanush returns to Telugu cinema with director Sekhar Kammula's action thriller Kuberaa, after scoring a blockbuster with his debut Telugu film in the form of Vaathi/SIR (2023). The movie also stars Telugu veteran Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh in prominent roles. ## Kuberaa has been making noise for the last couple of weeks after the release of the teaser and trailer, which perfectly set the tone for the movie to score a big opening. Although the advances for the movie were not as big as the trade had thought, for some reason, the movie opened to an excellent collection all over. ## Kuberaa has taken the biggest opening for Dhanush with a worldwide collection coming in the range of 27 crores gross. The film picked up well towards the evening and night shows, and managed to cross the double-digit mark by a decent margin. ## According to early estimates, SZP has scored in the range of 11-12 crores net collection. It was also released in Telugu and Tamil, in which, it has earned around 15-20 lakh collection. The trade was expecting an 8-9 crores opening, so considering that, it is a decent start. ## The opening of Sitaare Zameen Par is almost in the same range as Aamir's last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which scored around 11.75 crores net in all versions. Mumbai, June 20 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's romantic action comedy Son of Sardaar 2 is reportedly getting a solo release as Maddock Films' romantic comedy Param Sundari is set to be delayed, according to the report by Peepingmoon.com. ## There had been speculation about the postponement of Param Sundari for some time, but the makers recently announced that it would be released on July 25, on the same day SOS2 hits the big screen. But the Maddock has now decided to postpone Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film. ## Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock believes that Param Sundari has a strong chance of succeeding at the box office, and he doesn’t want it to get lost in a crowded release schedule. Both SOS2 and Param Sundari are in the same genre, but the former has more face value due to star power and franchise. ## Vijan has strategically opted to reposition the film to ensure it receives the attention it deserves, both for its narrative and its music. Los Angeles, June 20 - Director James Gunn's Superman is possibly looking to score the biggest opening for a solo Superman movie at the domestic box office after the superhero movie arrived on tracking three weeks before the release. ## Starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Superman is the first movie under the new DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Directed by Gunn, the movie is hot in the trade with a record opening in sight. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is tracking to open in the $135 million range at the domestic (North America) box office. The projected figures are from the leading tracking service, the National Research Group, as per THR. ## NRG always provides a range in addition to a solo number; in this case, the range for Superman's domestic opening is $125 million to $145 million. Meanwhile, the insiders at DC Studios and Warner Bros. are not looking too far and are being more conservative in suggesting a $90 million to $125 million opening. ## The projection suggests Superman could emerge as one of the biggest DC openers of all time. It is still behind the $166 million domestic debut of 2016's "Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice", but is ahead of or in the range of Zack Snyder's 2013 film "Man of Steel" ($116 million). ## Scheduled to release on July 11, the film explores Superman's journey to reconcile his alien heritage with his adoptive human family. It is set in the era of the 1970s and 1980s in Pakistan when Doval worked as a spy. ## The shoot of the film is going on at a brisk pace, with nearly 75% of the total filming already completed. Now, the makers are gearing up to launch the teaser on Ranveer's birthday on July 6. Mumbai, June 18 - After scoring a big success with Shaitaan, which was the remake of the Gujarati movie Vash, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn is all set to thrill the audience with its sequel. The first film also starred R. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janaki Bodiwala. ## According to the latest report by Peepingmoon.com, Shaitaan is being developed into a full-fledged franchise with a sequel officially in the works. Unlike the first movie, Shaitaan 2 won't be the remake of Vash Level 2, which is scheduled to hit the big screen in August this year. ## Slated to go on floors in the first quarter of 2026, the sequel will reportedly shift its setting to Konkan, a region in Maharashtra known as a hub for black magic practices, and it will be an original script. Vikas Bahl will return to direct Shaitaan 2. ## Aamil Keeyan Khan has been developing the sequel since last year, and he is believed to have nearly finished the scripting, with only minor refinements remaining. Mumbai, June 17 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has often shown his love for big screen cinema, and he is doing the same for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par by protecting its exclusive theatrical window, even at the cost of crores of rupees. ## It is known to all that Aamir has not decided to sell the film's post-theatrical OTT rights, as he wants people to watch the film on the big screen without having any idea when it will be available on home media for free. While his decision is being cheered by the trade, he has sacrificed a huge sum to stand firm on his decision. ## According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, Aamir has turned down a huge 120 crore offer from Amazon Prime Video for the film's post-theatrical OTT release. The decision he has taken is not because he wanted more money from OTT platforms, but because he has decided to try and change the game. ## Normally, the films are made available on OTT after an 8-weeks of their theatrical release, and this is something Aamir is completely against. He believes that there should be no fixed window for any movie and that they should be played in theatres as long as possible. ## In the post-COVID-19 world, filmmakers started having pre-agreements with OTT platforms with a fixed theatrical window. Trade believes that this is one of the main reasons footfalls have reduced in cinemas, especially for mid-size films, as there is a section of audience which is ready to wait for 8 weeks to watch them for 'free', which was not the case before Covid-19. ## This is something Aamir wants to change, and he is leading by example by not selling OTT rights of Sitaare Zameen Par, and has vowed to do the same with his upcoming movies.
